Missing Card and other problems in S&S

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

I'm not sure if this is the proper place to post this, but I'm looking to see if my experiences with S&S are similar to others, or just an outlier. I thoroughly enjoyed the RotR ACG, but I've had some issues with my copy of S&S that I picked up at GenCon.

The biggest problem is that I seem to simply be missing a location. Riptide Cove is nowhere to be found. I've checked every single card that came with S&S and the first Adventure Deck, and it's simply not there. So I can't play beyond 'The Grindylow and the Whale' scenario, which is the first time the location has shown up for me.

There's also numerous printing issues with my copy. RotR had some misprints, but the cards themselves were outstanding quality. S&S, on the other hand, or at least in my copy, has multiple bad printings. There are black dots, which I can only assume are ink, over many of the cards. They're small, but considering that maybe 1 in 10 cards have them, it gets annoying.

Also, several of the cards have a crease across the entire width of the card. It looks like maybe a machine in the process of creating the cards simply clamped down on the card and made the indentation.

I'm just wondering if these are recurring problems for people who already have the game, or just my copy.

I don't have my copy yet, so I can't verify anything for you, but I can say this: Paizo has high standards and excellent customer service. (See this excellent example of both.) I would contact customer service, since you bought from them directly. I'm sure they'll help you out. See this link for email and phone info or post a new thread in the customer service forum.

The new printings are all with one printer and they moved because there's supposed to be less deviation. That being said, the printers apparently had an issue that caused Paizo to have to push back the release date for a few things.

As far as dealing with your issue, you should do the following:
Take pictures of the cards that have issues or scan them and then shoot Paizo's CS an email with the pics to show the issues. They're usually very good about dealing with hiccups when they rarely occur.

I myself purchased pathfinder a Gen Con today but I Bought the Rise of the Runelords base set. I got home and went through the cards and noticed I did not have any Loot cards. I have yet to find a list of how many of each card you are suppose to get with the set but I imagine I should have at least a couple loot cards. Waiting for an email reply from customer support. Also if someone knows for sure that I am suppose to have loot cards or knows where a list is so I can check that I have all the cards I am suppose to have it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Skoku

Rise of the Runelords base set has 1 loot card, the Sihedron Medallion, but it is in the adventure deck 1 box which comes in the base set. (Though ironically it is mislabeled as from deck B).

The Exchange

Burnt Offerings should have a single copy of the Sihedron Medallion I believe. If you haven't opened that up look there for it.

Second step would be to separate all cards with a number 1 in the corner and count them all. You should have 110, if not one is missing, if you do have 110 and no Sihedron, you might have a duplicate of one card.

The card will count as both loot and an item, make sure if you separated them by type that you double check your item pile.

And here is a specific count of all the cards, thanks to the work of Balogh János on BGG.

Playing in OP at GenCon, there was definitely noticeable color variation on the backs of cards within the sets. These were all S&S cards, so should have all come from the same printer (right?) but I don't know if these were special sets that they banged out for OP or actual retail boxes.

There will always be some color variation when printing large quantities.

If you've ever bought floor tile for your house, you might have learned about dye lots. A professional would know that each box of tile might have slightly different color saturation from each other box. So they would mix tiles from different boxes as they laid your floor, thus spreading the color variation out over your floor so that it wouldn't be in a noticeable pattern.

The problem only arises if all B cards are darker than all 1 cards. So long as the issue is "some B cards are darker than some other B cards" and "some 1 cards are darker than other 1 cards" but "some B cards are the same as some 1 cards, while other B cards are the same as other 1 cards" then it shouldn't be something that accidentally provides you with game spoiling information.

That happened to me with my ROTR Adventure Deck 6. The backs of the cards were noticeably lighter in color than all the other cards in the box. If it were the fronts it would've been no big deal, but with the backs, I knew too much about the likelihood of where villains and henchmen were. It was really hard to check myself from using that information I wasn't supposed to have!

The loaner class decks we had in the OP room at Gen Con were print-on-demand decks that we rushed to complete when we learned that the Class Decks from the printer were going to be late, and we did not have time to match the colors precisely on them.
