So far I only see PACG demos listed in the Origins 2017 events list. Will there be organized play this year?

Grand Lodge

Still nothing on the Origins schedule. Anybody have an update? I'm holding slots for this but if it's not going to be listed then I'll go ahead and fill them and fit PACG in when I can. Thanks for any info.

Grand Lodge

How long are the slots?

Grand Lodge

I just came to ask this exact question. I'm shocked, shocked! that there will be no official representation right after the launch of WotR.

In an earlier thread Mike said he was going, I guess we'll just all have to play with him.

Grand Lodge

That is awesome!

Will there be organized play on the con schedule?

Grand Lodge

I was about to ask this same thing!

Grand Lodge

Just anecdotally, when we played OP at GenCon I think we had 6 every time. We might have had 5 but we definitely never had 4. We got through the scenarios (1-4) in 2 hours (or less) each and only lost once.

Grand Lodge

Minor detail: in my order 3290504, I got the subscriber discount on the adventure deck but not on the add-on deck.

Grand Lodge

OK, thanks Katina!

Grand Lodge

My subscription order disappeared and everything went into my sidecart. Then I hit "ship immediately" or whatever that button says, but then I didn't complete the order (thinking maybe I would lose my spot in the sub order shipping line). Now the add on deck is in my cart but the promos are gone and I have no orders pending and I'm scared.

Thanks Sara and CS team.

Grand Lodge

Maybe you are looking at the Skull & Shackles deck list (just one list) instead of the class decks deck list (one list for each class) ?

Grand Lodge

I don't think the card you are encountering is considered part of the location deck, although I don't have a line in the rulebook to point to. I think the intention is to shuffle the rest of the location deck. If that's the case, there's nothing that says the encounter ends; you still need to resolve the original encounter.

So it will likely be late October before any scenarios become available for purchase then? Are we still looking at a month delay before the pdfs go on sale for those of us who don't have access to store OP?

Bump. Curious about this as well. I suppose I should have bumped during business hours!

I am a known bard hater, and only ordered the bard class deck out of being a completionist. But then I saw Meliski's character sheet and was like hmmmmmm....

I played him in my last session at GC and liked him a LOT. Beside his gambling ability, he's got Arcane, Divine, and Diplomacy all based on his Charisma d10.

So, in conclusion: OP, buy the Bard deck!

Grand Lodge

Yes, sorry, I said 3 upgrades, but I meant 3 new cards. (Upgrade + Scenario Reward + ??? )

Grand Lodge

It's already changed in the 1.1 guide. The original sheets had one section per scenario. The new sheets let you write in the scenario in each section, allowing for replay. There's still only three lines for upgrades, but I can't think of a way you'd get more than three in a single play of a scenario.

Grand Lodge

I like the new Chronicle sheet, which is better-formatted to allow for replays of the same scenario.

Grand Lodge

Yeah, sorry, I should have been more clear. I was talking about upgrading and plunder. So, if your assumption is correct (which makes sense to me, it's just not spelled out anywhere that I can find), it doesn't make sense for Flenta to take a Spell 1 until after adventure 3.

You do not rebuild with your history—you rebuild with the standard rules.

I don't see anything specifically about rebuilding your deck in the OP guide except this:

OP Guide wrote:

After upgrading your deck, when rebuilding the rest of

your character deck, choose extra cards, if needed, from
your Class Deck. First, choose cards with the Basic trait
and B set indicator; then choose cards without the Basic
trait with the B set indicator, if you don’t have enough
Basic cards.

The S&S rulebook says:

S&S Rulebook wrote:

After each scenario, you must rebuild your character deck. Start by

combining your discard pile with your hand, your character deck,
any cards you buried under your character card, and any cards you
displayed; you may then freely trade cards with other players.
Your deck must end up meeting the Cards List requirements on
your character card, along with any deck adjustments on your role
card, if you have one. Loot cards count as cards of their type. For
example, if your character’s Cards List specifies 3 items, and you
keep 1 loot card with the item type when your rebuild your deck,
your deck must contain exactly 2 other items.
If you can’t construct a valid deck from the cards your group has
available because you don’t have enough of certain card types,
choose the extra cards you need from the box, choosing only cards
with the Basic trait. After you begin the adventure Tempest Rising,
you may ignore the Basic trait restriction; instead, you may use any
cards in the box from the base set and the Character Add-On Deck, as
well as any cards from an adventure whose adventure deck number
is at least 2 lower than the adventure you’re currently playing. If you
have cards left over after rebuilding all of the surviving characters’
decks, put them back in the box.

So, for clarification, WHEN/HOW can Flenta add above-B spells to her deck?

Grand Lodge

My package is about to ship and I can finally download the ACG. Thanks Sara and CS team.

Grand Lodge

My order (Skull & Shackles and ACG) is still "pending".

Grand Lodge

Thanks for the explanation but this is really really disappointing. Even after reading the explanation, I still have no email, and I still don't know when I'm going to have various parts of my order.

My frustration is compounded by the fact that I would have picked up all of these at GenCon, but didn't because I had no reason to think my sub would not ship.

Terrible way to treat your best, most loyal customers.

Edit: Will there be an option for subscribers NOT to wait until September for the Character Add On deck? That seems the right way to handle it.

Grand Lodge

Is her voice recovered?

Grand Lodge

Thanks NOG. I guess I won't buy any (more) til we hear the new announcement from Vic.

Grand Lodge

I think I may have had the Pro Tower and Satin Tower confused. The dice compartment on the Satin Tower looks on the small side. Can you fit a full set of dice in there? (Actually I like to have 2 full sets since you're often rolling multiples.)

Grand Lodge

DarthBuckets wrote:

I have the Pro Tower. I can keep 5-6 full sets of dice in the bottom drawer, pens/pencils in the little door, and an entire class deck + sleeves in the top compartment. It's a little bulky, but can fit in a backpack / saddlebag.

Oh wow, that sounds great. I sit corrected. Sold!

Grand Lodge

What are people using?

Not being a CCG player, I haven't had use for a deck box before, so I just walked up to a random stand in the dealers' hall at GC and said "Do you have any deck boxes with dividers?

They ended up giving me an Ultra Pro Pro-Dual box that works pretty well. It's five bucks, and unfolds to reveal 2 separate deck compartments. Each compartment is big enough to hold all the cards in a class deck box, and there's 2 dividers to keep your play deck separate from the, uh, rest. (Do we have a name for that yet? Sideboard? Ugh.)

When I got back I also was tempted by the Ultra-Pro Tower, which has a little drawer for dice at the bottom, but judging by the photos either it's too big to lug around or too small to carry enough dice.

First World Bard: you were a great Lem! I was Arabundi and my brother was Flenta in that first slot. We both commented to each other a couple times over the weekend how quick to assist you were. You inspired me to play Meliski later in the weekend, which I liked a lot.

Doc76, we played with you too. You are a monster! Congrats for getting through the whole adventure twice!

The current plan is for 7 sets that will cover all 31 iconics from the Core Rulebook, Advanced Player's Guide, Ultimate Magic, Ultimate Combat, and the Advanced Class Guide, plus notable animal companion/familiar/eidolon.

Was musing about this last night. 7 sets at 6 characters each =42 minis. One mini in each set is an "associated creature". That leaves 35. There are currently only 31 iconics.

Let the speculation begin!

At the PACG panel at GenCon, I asked if there were any plans to put out minis for the class deck characters after the first 7 sets. They didn't have a decision on that yet, but they said that there's actually going to be 9 initial sets but they couldn't say yet what was in the last 2.

I think at that point in the con Occult Adventures hadn't been announced yet, so that would be 6 more iconics. Not sure what else there would be. Let the speculation resume!

Grand Lodge

Playing in OP at GenCon, there was definitely noticeable color variation on the backs of cards within the sets. These were all S&S cards, so should have all come from the same printer (right?) but I don't know if these were special sets that they banged out for OP or actual retail boxes.

Just make it 2 separate events:
6pm - 7pm Learn to Play PACG
8pm - 10pm PACG OP

This way veterans don't have to sit around bored while people learn and can show up for the OP, and people just learning don't have to commit to 3 hours of something they don't know if they like.

I wonder if the solution would be a setup like (or exactly the same as) the dealer hall demos. A couple locations with just a couple cards each, so you can run through it in a few minutes but still get all the concepts across.

Grand Lodge

Hey, yeah! That's me against the wall behind #90 and my brother next to me.

What a great couple days getting introduced to PACG OP. Over the course of 7 sessions I ended up getting through scenarios 1-4 with one character (Arabundi) and scenario 1 with Meliski.

The PACG panel was also really cool. Nice to see the development team in the flesh and get the chance to thank them for how great their support of the community here is.

Tanis and crew, thanks again for making it so fun and smooth (from a player's point of view).

Mustering is going to present you with an interesting challenge. We saw everything from a guy who had blown through the first 4 scenarios and couldn't find anyone to play scenario 5 with him, to small groups of people who had never played PACG at all.

The three play sessions I've been in have all run right to the end of the allotted time. (Slots are 2 hours, but they have been ending them about 1:45 to allow cleanup I guess.) By the time people sit down, construct their decks, and get the scenario set up (some were pre-set up and some we had to set up ourselves), you're probably 15 to 20 minutes in.

Play itself has been great. Good variety of players and classes and characters. Tannis mentioned yesterday that they ran out of Rogue decks for the free decks. (I assume they eventually got more in since they are selling them downstairs now too.) No conflicts at the table. We haven't had any deaths, although in scenario 2 we had 3 people come close. We did fail the scenario though, so we will be replaying it.

Grand Lodge

Yes, the guys at the booth said the class decks were shipped directly to the con from the printer.

We played in the very first session, Thursday at 8am. It was understandably a little disorganized, but the Paizo staff was great and kept everything moving. We used temporary class decks since they hadn't arrived yet.

There was an error in our table's pre-done setup: the henchman and villains had not been shuffled in. By the time we figured that out, we had pretty much run out of time, so we failed the scenario. We divvied up the boons with no problems and got our chronicle sheets signed.

Played again last night. Class decks were in at this point and we got our free one for signing up for 4 sessions. My brother's fighter deck was messed up: it had duplicates of half the cards and half the cards were missing. They replace it on the spot. We replayed adventure 1 and won the scenario. There was some confusion about how to fill out the sheets for a second time through, whether we needed a new sheet or what. We ended up just doing filling in the first sheet and getting a second signature in the box.

Again, kudos to Tannis and the whole Paizo staff for keeping things going smoothly and bending over backwards to keep players happy. Excited for the next sessions.

Autoduelist - this is great! I will definitely be using this.

Hawkmoon - Thanks for the info. I registered my PACG Skull & Shackles pawn set.

Grand Lodge

Yeah, I posted them on Sunday in the "rampant speculation" thread, but here it is again:

If you go to My Account and click Make Changes under Pathfinder Society, you will see a button "Register a New Card Game Character". This lets you see the names of all the class deck characters for each class.

Bard: "Bekah", "Lem", "Meliski", "Siwar"
Cleric: "Heggal", "Kyra", "Tarlin", "Zarlova"
Fighter: "Flenta", "Tontelizi", "Valeros", "Vika"
Ranger: "Agna", "Arabundi", "Harsk", "Wrathack"
Rogue: "Lesath", "Merisiel", "Olenjack", "Wu Shen"
Sorcerer: "Amaryllis", "Qualzar", "Seoni", "Valendron"
Wizard: "Darago", "Ezren", "Melindra", "Radillo"

My brother made a list over on BGG matching these names up to the codex and other people's speculations:

Grand Lodge

Sounds great! Sorry if I'm being dumb, but where would I find this?

Grand Lodge

Got my fixed up combined order. Thank you!

I fixed it for you and sent a new email.
I also have the problem withe PACG class decks not being part of my subscription order. I also can't seem to find the sidecart with anything in it, though I do have a pending order with all the class decks. Is this the same problem or different root cause?

Same for me. Did I screw up? My class decks stayed a separate order.

Thanks Sara (and the rest of Paizo Customer Service)!

Grand Lodge

If you play a character in OP and then decide you don't like it, will there be the opportunity to apply the experience to a new character/deck, similar to the way you can in PFS before 2nd level?

I assume this will be answered in the forthcoming OP guide, but figured I'd ask while we're waiting...

Grand Lodge

Depending on who my wife chooses, I will probably go with either Magus or Warpriest.

I don't have RotR in front of me, but looking at the S&S rulebook I didn't see an obvious difference between the Valeros-es. Is there one?

Grand Lodge

With 8 hours of PACG on my GC schedule, I probably won't be playing S&S in my downtime, so I'm going to let my sub ship and hope for the best. (Watch this space for my tearful lamentations!)
