Dungeon Ring for the prisoner and scrying questions, please help

Rules Questions

so for story reasons I have a PC in my campaign who is wearing a prisoners dungeon ring. does the person wearing the ring get a save vs the scrying or no because of the ring. and with scrying is the target the only one to get a save and anyone around the target is just observed?

From what I have read about the dungeon ring, if the wearer of a jailor's ring placed it on the PC then the ring cannot be removed. If the PC placed it on himself, then it can be worn and removed at will.

Regardless of any of that, the wearer of the jailor's ring linked to the dungeon ring always knows the status (as the spell) of the PC and is considered 'familiar' with the PC for purposes of scrying and teleport.

Looking at Scrying, it does not say that a target gets no saving throw if the caster is familiar with them. They do get a -5 penalty to the Will save to negate the spell.

Of course, if a scrying spell (other than the actual spell named Scrying) is used, then you use the rules for that spell. For instance, if it said that familiar targets get no save, then yes, your PC would get no save.

If the PC succeeds on the save against Scrying, then per the spell, it fails and you cannot scry on them again for 24 hours. If they fail the save, the spell works and the scryer can view anyone and anything around the target as per the rules for the spell. Anyone in the area of the spell may get a chance to detect the scrying sensor, as stated in the spell, but otherwise there's not much they can do about it, except leave or dispel it.

Scrying

Scrying: A scrying spell creates an invisible magical sensor that sends you information. Unless noted otherwise, the sensor has the same powers of sensory acuity that you possess. This level of acuity includes any spells or effects that target you, but not spells or effects that emanate from you. The sensor, however, is treated as a separate, independent sensory organ of yours, and thus functions normally even if you have been blinded or deafened, or otherwise suffered sensory impairment.

A creature can notice the sensor by making a Perception check with a DC 20 + the spell level. The sensor can be dispelled as if it were an active spell.

Lead sheeting or magical protection blocks a scrying spell, and you sense that the spell is blocked.

There is still a save as the ring does not specify there isn't. However, the creature wearing the ring counts as familiar, which imposes a -5 penalty to their save.

The target being scryed on is the only one who gets to make a save. If the spell is successfully cast and not resisted then you can see 10ft in all directions of the target.

thank you both very much
