A warpriest for PFS

Advice

Silver Crusade

So I got an oread boon for GMing at a recent Con and I think I am going to make a warpriest out of it. I think they are certainly the best class based on the ability bonuses. Anybody got any good ideas for a warpriest? Or maybe a better idea for what to do with an oread boon?

Scarab Sages

They make exceptional Zen Archers, but it's not really thematic.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, I considered that, but I already have an archer inquisitor and an archer fighter, oh and a gunsliger. So I wanted to stay away from any more ranged physical damage dealers.

What I really like about warpriests are the sacred weapon bonus making non-standard weapons attractive.

You could make a great character that focuses on two-handing a shield, using sacred weapon to increase the damage on shield bashes with a free bull rush on every hit.

Blackbloodtroll is making one that makes the club into a decent weapon.

You could use a whip and do real damage at reach in addition to the normal whip tricks.

Take a Quarterstaff and Quarterstaff Master and you are the only warpriest that can take weapon specialization without dipping into Magus or Monk.

Use a Dagger and the River Rat trait for Longsword damage with a dagger at level 1 that scales with level.

Use a Shortspear to make it as Deadly as the Aiel in Wheel of Time.

Use Battle Poi to use your Sacred Weapon damage with FIRE.

I bet an oread would make a great warpriest. They make good inquisitors, which is the closest established analogue for the warpriest. The -2 CHA will hurt, but the class might become less MAD in the final book.

I would take Weapon Focus (Shield Bash) and chose a god with a good 1 handed weapon in order to make a sword and board warpriest who can use their main weapon or shield bash without losing any effectiveness. I advocate that only becasue I find the image of just two-handing a shield to be very silly.

Silver Crusade

Hmmmm...I guess it's really not worth it to use a two-handed weapon with the warpriest because of the scaling damage. So what god has the kukri as their weapon? I am looking forward to kukri and shield now.

Lamashtu, but you don't need your sacred weapon to be your deity's favored weapon. Any weapon you have weapon focus in is a sacred weapon, and the bonus weapon focus feat you get at first level can be applied to any weapon, it does not have to be the favored weapon.

Silver Crusade

Yes, I'm aware of all that. I was going to use the free Weapon Focus on shield bash and then take a diety with an 18-20 crit weapon. I've already got one worshipper of Sarenrae, so I thought of the kukri. Although now I'm wondering which Empyreal lord or Tien diety has the katana as preferred weapon.

Edit: Shizuru has the katana as preferred weapon. She also has some interesting domains, but I guess that doesn't really to a warpriest.

Edit #2: And Shizuru is probably not PFS legal, so back to the drawing board.

Edit #3: After a review of the Additional Resources, Shizuru is, in fact, legal for PFS play. So now I have to get a copy of the Dragon Empires Gazetteer.

Blessings generally line up to Domains, so they can be nice. Even more so if you dip a level of inquisitor or two for int to initiative and a domain power.

Silver Crusade

Yeah, I'm probably not going to dip inquisitor. My "main" and the character I will take through Eyes of the Ten is an inquisitor, so I've had my fill of them. I'm also overall not much of a multi-classer.

I wish the info from the ACG was online somewhere, because otherwise I have to have my iPad to look up info on the classes from it and that's annoying when I'm bored at work and trying to put together a new build.
