Duplication of Characters

Advice

While brainstorming ideas for a new BBEG for my campaign (As an extremely, EXTREMELY lucky arrow killed my previous one. I hate called shot heart.) a friend of mine suggested a villain that Duplicates people, particularly the Party, and uses them as his soldiers. The obvious choice here is Simulacrum, but I was hoping for more options than just that.

  • Simulacrum
  • Silent Image (while regular henchmen do the dirty work)
  • Sculpt Corpse Zombies
  • A couple of good Disguise checks for those henchmen
  • castings of Disguise Other, again on the henchmen

In the 3.5 era, there was a concept floating around for an antagonist to the "Batman" wizard: the Joker, built as a Bard. It had a lot of good ideas about how to make others - preferably innocent bystanders - be the villains while the true antagonist remains hidden. You may want to google for threads about that NPC, and mine them for ideas that still apply in Pathfinder.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

A Doppelganger clone master alchemist. Dopple for that uncanny valley disguise.
Clonemaster gets Simulacrum at L13 as an alchemist spell, Clone at L8 so you can ambush folks with dozens of you. And as a doppleganger each of those "yous" could be a completely separate person in the crowd.
crazy stuff like sharing a spell of Skinsend to an enemy with a time delayed explosion near them. Then you have BBEG#C2 stand up and huck bombs til the main target is dead.
even if they do catch the main "you" all it does is give you time to activate your poison tooth or your implanted bomb in order to blow up and try again.

The feat Master of the Ledger grants an exponential amount of gold only limited by the number of cities in the world you inhabit. This would permit the creation of the normally exorbitantly expensive Simulacrum as throwaway minions.
