Tiefling Cleric of Iomedae: "Thomas"

Spoiler'd for length:
Thomas is not his real name.
In the eastern land of Tian Xia, a human family who greatly enjoyed the status afforded them by their prestigious ancestry was shocked when their firstborn child was an oni-spawn tiefling. After some discreet divinations, it was determined that the child was the manifestation of demonic heritage that had been dormant in the family's bloodline for countless generations.
While keeping the mother and child hidden at home under the pretense of being ill due to a complicated birth, the father wrestled with the prospect of losing all his social status to a tainted ancestry. Fearing he would lose everything and seeing no acceptable (in his mind) solution, he eventually resolved to kill the pit-stained child and keep the whole thing secret.

Fortunately for the young tiefling, his mother was more compassionate. Realizing her husband's intent, she fled under cover of darkness, taking her precious child with her on a desperate flight to the west. She had heard of Absalom, the City at the Center of the World, where people were diverse enough that perhaps her child would be a little less stared-at, a little less forced into constant self-defense.

And so she traveled. Sometimes walking, sometimes hitchiking, sometimes running. While her husband back home faked the death of both her and the child (thus retaining his beloved status), she trekked countless miles, sometimes staying for extended periods with generous (and open-minded) souls, sometimes sleeping on a forest floor and telling her toddler that he could go ahead and eat their only food because she wasn't hungry.

The journey was long and hard, made longer and harder by not knowing the way, or needing to recover from an illness or injury, or needing to hide from dangerously scared townsfolk. The tiefling was a teenager by the time they finally reached the Inner Sea. Unfortunately, his mother did not get to see him arrive safely at their destination. After one too many nights in the rain and too much distance between them and someone willing to house them for a while, she died unceremoniously in the wilderness. The tiefling, now nearly an adult, dug her a grave and mourned alone.

Or so he thought.

The goddess Iomedae had plans for him, and sent a startling vision to a devout paladin in Absalom: the paladin was to venture alone into the wilderness, encounter a tiefling, and bring him back with her to Absalom to be trained as a cleric! Despite warnings from her peers that this could be trickery of a demon, she followed the prompting of her vision and, upon reaching the appointed place, found not a snarling villain but a mourning teen in the process of placing a lovingly-crafted marker atop a fresh grave.

Moved by what she saw, she greeted the tiefling warmly - more warmly than anyone but his mother had ever treated him. Realizing that he could trust her (and that he had no choice, as a half-starved commoner is no match for a well-equipped paladin), he went with her back to Absalom to learn of Iomedae and the future he could have in her service.

Almost ten years later, the oni-spawn is starting to become known both inside and outside the church of Iomedae. Having assumed the name Thomas to shield his family (mostly his mother's memory) from shame, he now travels the Inner Sea as both a Pathfinder and an agent of Ollysta Zadrian's Silver Crusade. With the wisdom to differentiate between the evil and the desperate, and the strength to cut down the former and protect the latter; Thomas the Tiefling Hero spreads the holy light of Iomedae wherever he goes.

Thomas is strong and noble, willing even to throw himself in front of a blade aimed at his allies. Ever vigilant and always prepared, he strikes down evil with his goddess' favored weapon, using magic both to bolster his combat ability and to negate whatever tactics his enemies might use to confound him and his allies.

Though his life has never been easy, Thomas' biggest challenge is yet to come. There are murmurs of late; murmurs of trouble at the Worldwound. Though Thomas has faced a few demons in his career (even venturing once into hell on a rescue mission), the time is coming when he will be called upon to march against the mustered hordes at the worldwound. The danger will be great, but so is Thomas' courage and his faith that Iomedae will be guiding both his spells and his sword arm.

Sovereign Court

"Righty" - Athelas Talimah - Arcane Trickster/Magus - I am always Righty so you stand on the Lefty and then we Flanky. Remember to Flanky. I have to tell the humans that because they often forget to Flanky.

The Marquis du Ruum is estranged from Kyonin. His parents little more than a memory of six score years hence. The babe was raised in a Taldan family both as a curiosity and potential long term asset. His magical training was mainly from the House wizard, who died after a mere 20 years. His training in classical Taldan weapons is similarly brief, a mere 30 years with a young drill instructor..who died late in life. Due to the insightful nature of a resident member of the thieves guild, Righty found his way out of the household and into the more interesting parts of Absolom. Cutting his way through the rogues of the city was part skill, part luck, and mainly from certain inquiries by a "Baron Jaquo" on his whereabouts. The Baron kept tabs on the Elf, who he met decades ago in a less than noble part of town. The intent was simple, another potential candidate for the growing Taldan influence in Absolom and in the Pathfinder Society.

Soon enough Righty was moved into place, hired to investigate and infiltrate a noble manor...the Baron was inside waiting. The final piece clicked into place Righty realized, my dear sir you've set me up...

Of course my boy, its your calling to join the Pathfinders or its jail..

Yes, but not those people. Smelly and dirty and climbing into all sorts of nasty places.

My suggestion lad, buy some perfume...maybe a gallon. keep it near the nose when things get too ripe. But join you have and go you must. At least there is good coin in the finding of the Path.

A treasure you are dear Baron. We'll have to find somewhere special to bury you. Maybe a future generation will dig you up, "for study!"

HA! But not today dear lad, and not by you. Go, the coach is waiting and you have a job to do....for Taldor. Remember us, and stay true to dear Stavian's realm.

Jail might not be so bad.... But there's no perfume available in the cells...and if there is, I don't want to be in that cell. I'm off.

Cado Deus

Spoiler:
Sylah was once married to the esteemed clergyman Tidus. Their social status within the community was virtually unrivaled. The commoners looked to them for all manner of guidance and protection; a sort of beacon in the midst of vast darkness.

Sylah’s beauty and character always afforded her constant attention, but ultimately that attraction brought about some rather destructive attention. She caught the eye of a devious scoundrel tainted with Rakshasa blood named Maahes. The sinister and cunning Maahes was intrigued by her purity and made it his personal mission to destroy that bright light within her.

Maahes disguised himself as traveling missionary who got close to Sylah by appealing to her desire to spread their “mutual” faith. All the while as Sylah and Maahes got closer and closer, he was working his charms to gain her affection. The day came she could no longer resist his machinations and a passionate affair ensued.

It wasn’t long until Sylah was with child and the conniving Maahes was no longer interested in developing a relationship. Instead he remained in the town as an independent missionary, sowing vicious rumors about Sylah. Disguised as various commoners, he began telling others that Sylah had been unfaithful to Tidus, and that she had even been seen consorting with members of demonic faiths. These rumors spread for their absurdity among the community more so than because anyone actually believed them. But even in jest the fault line of Sylah’s character had been laid. When she gave birth to a child with lanugos, elongated pupils, and highly pronounced philtrum, what was once seen as an absurdity was perceived as a scary reality for the public.

Sylah admitted to the affair with the missionary, but denied all allegations of consorting with demons or demon worshippers (this was a true statement as far as she knew). Her claims fell on deaf ears as her character was beyond repair. With quick growing unrest, it was clear that Tidus and the town intended to purge the demon child from their midst. Emotionally wrecked and feeling abandoned by her faith, she didn’t know what to do. Seeing the current travesty as her mistake and not that of the child, she fled from town in the night taking the infant Cado Deus with her.

Out on their own they were certain to die in the hostile outlands, but Maahes wouldn’t let her pain end so quickly. He sought to savor her fall as long as he could. Without her knowledge, Maahes would fend off potential aggressors before they could prey upon the new mother. His return payment would be to watch her tears for endless hours.

As Cado Deus grew, Sylah did her best to teach her bastard son all she knew, which ironically was how to comport herself around the masses. She always hoped for the day that Cado Deus could actually be accepted despite his genetic defects. Eventually the day came when Maahes grew bored of the distressed mother and left her proximity for good. It wasn’t long before she was abused and slain by brigands that stumbled upon her hiding spot, but when the brigands turned their hostilities towards the young Cado Deus they found themselves unable to advance.

In fact, they soon found themselves actually bending to the will of the young demon-blooded Cado. By means of his mother’s tongue and his father’s blood, he realized that he could assert his will over the miscreants. Knowing that he couldn’t survive out on his own but realizing that he had matured to the point that he could survive in the presence of others, he compelled the thieves to bring him to a nearby town where he could find a new life.

The more mature Cado found that free from the treacherous tale of his mother it was surprisingly easy to reintegrate into other towns. Rather than the abomination he was said to have been treated as during his infancy, his feline-esque beauty and silver tongue made him a boon of attraction rather than repulsion.

His meticulous and manipulative nature made him quite interested in both law and economics. The adult Cado fashioned himself as quite the businessman. Taking note of his acumen, the Qadiran faction came knocking. They knew they could use a man of his skills and their offers of travel and insight were most compelling. Thus a new Pathfinder was born.

During his time as a Pathfinder, Cado studied the laws of the lands in his free time. As a sort of indulgence to that passion, he even thought he would give religion another try despite the wicked role it played in his conception. He pledged himself to Abadar, the most legalistic and mercantile of the gods. This suited him quite well for a time, but Cado is currently having yet another crisis of faith. As business savvy as Abadar and his ilk may be, the drug trade and profits to be made from it are weighing heavily against Cado and his favor with Abadar.

Uriel "The Jester" Elnevel

Spoiler:
The first record of Uriel Elnevel was as an abandoned infant. He was found on the doorsteps of a cathedral to Iomedae and taken in with great excitement. The baby was not like most, clearly the blood of a celestial flowed strongly in his veins as the energy was manifest on his very skin. He looked almost like a living breathing porcelain doll. His skin was pure white, completely pore-less, and an all-together sight of great beauty. He was heralded as a gift from Iomedae herself by the church elders and quickly became a beacon for nearby worshippers to marvel in her gracious gift to the church.

It seemed that Uriel had a life of respect and adulation laid before him from the start, but then he learned to talk. Everything was so remarkably funny to him. From silly rituals of his home to the sacred stories of Iomedae, to the toil in which most people lived out their lives, Uriel looked upon it all as utter hilarity. What he found even funnier was how serious and angry some people became at his musings while others could be brought to his same states of elation with just a few words. Uriel never played with toys as a child, he played with people. He would push them from their comfort zone and then dance them about like his own private puppet show.

At 11 when Uriel began proclaiming himself as the bastard love child of Cayden Cailean and Zon-Kuthon, the church elders had suffered all that they were going to on account of the alabaster child. They cast him out on his own, but this was no concern for Uriel; rather his playpen was expanded. He roamed from town to town sometimes living off the wealth of others and sometimes sleeping on the streets. But no matter where he found himself Uriel was laughing all the while, after all this world and its inhabitants were all just so ridiculous.

As he grew older he realized that he had a certain supernatural knack, which empowered his antics and further separated him from the dullards he walked amongst. About that time his reputation for biting humor and alabaster skin became quite noteworthy everywhere he went. People would often refer to him as The Jester instead of his real name. The moniker seemed to pop up in every town independently, and he decided to embrace this persona. He never cared much for the traditional costume, but by applying large amounts of make up to his lips and eyes, everyone simply saw him as an irresistible clown instead of some irresponsible avatar.

As he further developed in both mind and body, he was constantly in search of new laughs and new challenges. He found that while the folly of a random person was humorous, the folly at the expense of a foe was to die for. He decided to join the Pathfinders to exploit this very thing. This ridiculous group of so-called heroes never had any shortage of adversaries to one up, and his abilities made him quite the valued recruit.

Silas Wretch

Spoiler:
Silas is my name; I have no formal surname to my knowledge. I was raised, and presumably birthed, by a Wescroni conjurer that never even told me her name. My room, for what I have calculated to be about 15 years, was a small library turned dungeon. I don’t think my….caretaker really knew what to do with me. For all their comfort when doing business with demons her kind are remarkably prudish about fornicating with them. And let’s face it; she couldn’t very well bring something looking like me out into society with her.

It retrospect there are worst ways to be raised. While creature comforts were light, the reading material was exquisite. I taught myself to read before I learned to speak my first language. Hell, I probably knew more about science, demons, and magic before I learned to speak than most people know in their whole lives. It didn’t really matter that the only person I had known was nothing more than a food delivery system, it isn’t like I am the type of…..person that needs coddling.

But one day when the lock turned it was not the familiar face I knew that came through the door. Instead there were three individuals who seemed quite startled to see me. Screams, throwing things, they were quite frazzled, as was I. Prior to this event the only person I had ever known acted more like a fleshy golem than something capable of emotion. I was chased out like a rat into the streets. I later came to know that my caretaker, who liked to think of herself as some sort of nobility, had passed. My three impromptu aggressors had come to lay claim on their share of her Vira. Of course I was not surprised my name didn't make it onto the will. Even after I found out her name I didn't draw the connection that it should be my own, but I am getting ahead of myself.

The people I met on the streets were not very accepting. I didn’t look like them; I looked more like the things they try to control. While I couldn’t depend on their good nature, I did learn to depend on their stupidity and carelessness. I found myself stealing things from them that I needed. I took both their food and their words. I learned my first two oral languages by eavesdropping alone.

Living on the street, it was a bit harder for me to get my hands on a steady supply of books. So in the interim, I decided to read anatomy. I dissected anything I could get my hands on. It was during one of my exploratory sessions that I was discovered by a rich traveler named Yahem Yalan. His disposition towards me was one of fascination and not horror. He was made inquisitive by my inquisitiveness. After I told him what I was doing, he asked my name. Occasionally I had been called Silas in my home and repeatedly I had been called Wretch in the streets. Apparently how names are given was not one of the tidbits of information I had picked up along the way, so I answered with what I thought best at the time “Silas Wretch”. By the time I knew better I thought the whole thing quite humorous and decided that I would keep the name.

Back to the matter at hand, Yahem was a very decent man although very peculiar by most peoples' standards. That probably worked out in my favor. He ended up taking me from my home in Westcrown to his home in Sothis. He taught me to dress like a leper and people would treat me a bit better not knowing what I was, but his real gift to me was his lab. Books and chemicals and test subjects were abundant. I learned much over the next few decades, I was working at three times the pace I was in my first library. I couldn’t have been more euphoric for a very long time.

But eventually something started to itch with me. I realized that there were still limits in my new home as well. If some merchant, traveler, scientist could amass this many resources, just imagine what I could amass gathering the knowledge of kings, emperors, and pharaohs. The Osirian Faction of the Pathfinder Society helps direct me to the greatest of secrets.

Czernobog Vreniss

Spoiler:
Treant Vrennis was a very talented academic and aspiring medic in the city of Slothis. While socially Treant fit in rather well and was often able to keep his personal idiosyncrasies to himself, they were in fact quite numerous. One particular oddity sprung from his academic love of anatomy. Treant was a grave robber, not of material goods but organic ones. He received a rush from the dissection of corpses, and kept meticulous notes and drawings of each one.

By earning a name for himself with scholastic achievements, he managed to secure personal passage into the tomb of the pharaoh Czernobog Al’ Akkara for academic purposes. While he was very clearly instructed not to remove anything from the tomb or damage any of the artifacts, he saw this as no reason to forego the chance to see the inner workings of what some people once considered a god.

Upon opening the chest cavity of the pharaoh, he was stunned to see a strange reptile that appeared to be living inside. Its eyes were a deep, piercing red that made Treant’s entire body feel very stiff and very heavy. Without moving, it was almost as if the weight of his own limbs felt so great that they were collapsing his entire body into the ground and itself.

He immerged from the tomb hours later carrying the reptile he calls Ezzit. Immediately one of the guards addressed him, reminding Treant of the instruction to remove nothing from the tomb. Treant stared directly into the guards eyes and replied. “Czernobog Vreniss has made no such agreement. It would serve you well to forget what you have seen here.”

Treant, who stopped answering to that name, was said to go through a series of progressive changes so that most of his former peers scarcely recognized him. One of which was his transition from academia, to the much more visceral, Pathfinder Society.

Lorenzo Talcotta

Spoiler:
Lorenzo, or more specifically the man who uses the name Lorenzo as an important alias among many, is a complicated and elusive character. He is know to claim many identities, religious affiliations, regional affiliations, and personal motivations.

At one time there was a claim by now deceased people about missing documents that point to what some think is the most likely truth of Lorenzo’s history. Allegedly, Lorenzo was born to an Andoran slave woman and both were exchanged as consideration on a bet at the Histoqen in Katheer. After the race, both Lorenzo and his mother became property of a Qadiran noble named Alhem Alhazar.

Alhem, while quite prudent in matters of acquiring wealth, was quite decadent with his funds for a Qadiran. He was prone to hosting massive balls and masked soirees where nobles could anonymously indulge themselves, oftentimes at the expense of the slaves.

One of the repeat visitors, a man in an ivory plague doctor’s mask, became quite fond of the young Lorenzo and very quickly became quite attached the lad. As both a show of appreciation and mentorship, he offered to help Lorenzo rise from his lowly station. The man in Ivory drew up documents and had them falsely notarized to state that Lorenzo’s mother was a concubine to Alhem, and Lorenzo was their son.

Very shortly after the documents were in place, Alhem mysteriously died in his sleep. According to Qadiran law, Lorenzo was inheritor of both his property and title. Lorenzo then liquidated his “father’s” assets and the paper trail quickly disappeared.

This story is as much hearsay as any other, but from this point the tales diverge even more greatly. One murmur that perhaps crops up slightly more than others among the most trusted of spies include tales of the Reaper of Reputation.

Grand Lodge 1/5

Some are long and most are brief.

Sorilus Tauronor:
Human:Chelaxian Male NG Cleric of Sarenrae 4 (Healing/Sun) Silver Crusade

A Chelaxian man born to a family of decent station in the land that reveres the Prince of Law. He bore a strange mark on his arm that would not be understood for a few years.
His parents were decent enough folk. They cared and provided for him well but could be somewhat strict. Some of the servants would be more lax with him. At about the age of 4 years old a halfling servant woman found him playing with a lit candle while being "watched" by another servant. The flame seemed to have little or no effect on him. As the candle flame passed by the mark on his arm she realized it matched the symbol for the Dawnflower. She became agitated and brought forth this information to his parents. They considered the minor protection from flame to be a possible blessing. As for the mark the parents were concerned by what it could mean, so took measures to alter and conceal it. This worked for almost a decade.
Now in his teens Sorilus had grown a great distaste for his parents and their constant concern over the birthmark. Years prior he had learned of the relation to Sarenrae. After which he had spent much time learning as much as he could about her. Now he had grown tired of all the lying. His parents had become lax and tried placating him as much as possible. He had never wanted for anything. Even, as an attempt to rile his parents up, had requested to have a Succubus to do with as he pleased for his 13th birthday. When they actually delivered he nearly lost his head. After using the demon to grant him some stress relief he decided to think carefully about how much longer he could continue like this.
Several months later Sorilus went to his parents and told them he was leaving, both them and Cheliax. He was going to seek out a temple of Sarenrae for more study and see where things went from there. His place was not here and they all knew it. They told him if he left he would leave with their love but would also have to be with a disowned status. He had expected as much.
Once out of Cheliax it did not take long to find a temple that would accept him. It only took a couple of years to complete his training. It was toward the end of this time that he had helped an adventuring party to such a degree that they offered to help get him into the Pathfinder Society. Even though he did not know much about the Society he felt that he might be able to do more good this way. During his time with the society he has found his initial belief to still hold true. Things looked up even more when he met Ollysta Zadrian. As a part of the Silver Crusade at this time he is looking to see how will he will be able to help with the current threat from the Worldwound.

Ormkuya (Trip):
Human:Keleshite Male CN Sorcerer 4 (Wildblooded: Arcane/Sage, Seeker) Sczarni (Formerly Shadow Lodge)

Ormkuya is son of a Keleshite pair of arcanists. His father is a Wizard and his mother is a Witch. He was born and raised mostly in Yanmass, Taldor. His sharp intellect was noticable at an early age. They found him mimicking their motions and words whenever they were using magic. One day when he was about 5 years old he managed to actually cast Dancing Lights. Both of his parents were ecstatic and began testing and teaching him as much as they could. It only took a matter of days to confirm that he was a bloodliner. Since his parents could only do so much to help him directly they hired many tutors over the years. In the beginning he picked up a few simple spells relatively quickly. His mother started calling him "Mr. Cantrip" because of his fondness for these types of spells. The name stuck but ended up shortened to "Trip".
At about 12 years old there was an incident with someone mistaking his mom for a prostitute. His mom cursed the man for it. That man then used his own money and influence to cause problems for Ormkuya's parents. So the three of them left Yanmass and ended up in Kravenkus. They were able to ward up a small section in some of the unclaimed area in the outskirts of the citadel. They were able to create a comfortable enough home for themselves.
Of course Ormkuya would not be able to stay here forever. There were still so many questions that he wanted to find answers to. So his parents contacted some of their old friends and got Ormkuya into the Pathfinder Society training program. It was there that "Trip" found himself delving more into the source of his powers. He also found himself listening to the talk going around about one Grandmaster Torch. Upon completing his confirmation he had already decided to join up with this man.
Now, since the incident in which Torch parted ways with the Society, he has become involved with one Guaril Karela. He is somewhat torn. He has become less trusting of others but still tries to follow the ideals put forth by Torch. He believes in looking out for his fellow pathfinders and trying his best to make sure everyone gets home safe. He sees his set up with the Sczarni as business. He helps them and then he uses the resources he gets from them to aid in helping his fellow Pathfinders.

Aula Wintrish:
Human:Chelaxian Female NG Witch 2 (Agility) Silver Crusade

Aula was born in Anferita Wood to a Green Faith couple. Her parents were visiting the wood in hopes of having their child born in the same place as Grand Druid Tregellus Aranega. She grew up in various places around Cheliax. Her parents were skilled at crafting. They specialized in clothing, which they taught to their daughter. It was a comfortable life for Aula until she came into contact with "it".
When she was about 12 years old, while in the Barrowood, she came across a baby fox just as its mother was being killed by a monster of some sort. There were other dead fox in the immediate area as well, most likely the father and siblings. The monster then turned toward the baby fox. Since the monster was apparently not killing for sustenance Aula jumped out to protect the baby fox. She jumped in between the monster and fox held up her hands to shield the animal, then screaming at the monster to stop. Suddenly there was a surge of energy that coursed through her then the monster dropped to the ground asleep. Without hesitation Aula grabbed the fox and ran as fast as she could with the fox biting her the whole time. Once back to her parents at one of the druid groves she collapsed. When she came around the baby fox was sleeping right beside her. After her parents calmed down, from their excitement that she was okay, she explained what happened. It was not long after this that they realized there was a deeper connection between Aula and the fox.
Over the next few years Aula began performing more spells and abilities. Eventually her parents brought her around the Inner Sea to allow her to grow and expand her abilities. A significant portion ended up being in Qadira. While there Aula learned of the Pathfinder Society and became intrigued. She decided to go through the training and see where it would bring her.
Upon becoming a part of the Society she found herself falling with the Silver Crusade. She tries to use her spells and abilities to incapacitate her enemies or heal/boost her allies. When needed she will use a summon spell to bring forth a creature to assist her comrades in melee.

Oz of Backar Forest:
Human:unknown ethnicity Male N Fighter 1 Sczarni

(PFS version of a character concept for a home game)
Notes: Most of the characters will be referred to by their age, gender, class, or race until their names are actually given by the characters.

Starting at the age of three, if not sooner, until the age of seven the child was led around by a strange person. This person always had their entire body concealed. This included wearing a mask that covered the entire face. This Masked one would lead the child around as a servant/slave. The child was made to do many things, such as cleaning the Masked ones clothes, repairing/polishing the equipment, setting up campsites, and more. Most of these things were beyond the child’s abilities. All this time the Masked one would go on and on about being one of the ones chosen by the gods and that it was his/her duty to find others chosen by the gods for their grand plan. At the age of 7 the child was brought to some woods somewhere and left there. The Masked one said this was a test to see if the child was one of the chosen ones.
The child had been left with only the rags on his back and a dagger. The first night the child found a hole in the ground at the base of a tree that he crawled inside and cried himself to sleep. When he awoke the next day, it was to find a strange flying creature shaking him. This creature was a little over two feet tall, male, and had wings like a butterfly. The creature, upon seeing the child awake, introduced himself as Pix. He said that he was a Pixie and that his actual name would be rather difficult to pronounce. The child was a little scared at first but Pix had a warm and friendly smile that put the child at ease. The child then spoke to Pix saying that he did not have a name. He was always called child, servant, bug, or whatever else the Masked one felt like. At this Pix then said he would call him Young man or Young one, since he was not all that familiar with human naming styles. The young man liked these better and smiled at Pix. Pix then looked at the boy and said he knew where they could get some food and a place to take a bath. The young one followed Pix as best he could through the woods, eating berries and nuts along the way. They eventually came upon a glade with a large pool of water at the center of it. Pix flew up to water and called in his kinds native tongue and in response the water bubbled and the same language was returned in a different voice. This scared the young man, but Pix calmed him. He said that there was a creature that lived here and that creature helped to protect this forest. Then he went on to say that everyone should always ask for permission to enter first and wait for the okay. If the water is entered without permission the creature will attack. So, until the young one learned the Fey language (Sylvan), he always made sure he went there with Pix. After the food, which was better than what the Masked one gave him, and the bath the young man asked Pix why he was helping him. Pix responded by saying that he was currently assisting the creature in the water in protecting this forest and that it was in their nature to help those in need. Pix said he had been sent word by one of the other guardians (for this forest had a few of them) about a child being left in the woods. Now, Pix said he was going to do his best to teach him the ways of the forest so that he may learn to survive on his own. Pix told the young man that it was going to be tough and that there would be times when he would be on his own for weeks at a time. Pix then set about helping the young one in finding a suitable place for a semi-permanent camp. After that would be the arduous task of teaching this boy to survive. For the next four years he learned many things. And even though there were times where he was alone for almost three months without seeing anyone and only speaking with the unknown creature in the water, he never felt all that alone. Then the day came when the Masked one appeared again to see if by chance he had survived. The Masked one managed to catch site of the young man and yelled out calling him child. The Masked one was trying to order him once again. The young one had already decided long ago that he would heed this man and his “gods” no more. The young man took off into the woods making sure the Masked one was following him. Suddenly the Masked one was caught by a natural hazard of the forest and was unable to move. The young man came up to the Masked one and said in the Fey tongue that he would go nowhere with this Masked man ever again and slit the Masked one’s throat. Once the Masked one was completely dead the young man freed the body and dragged it to a clearer area. Here the young one stripped the body of everything. The young man now saw that it was a human male, but different than what the young man looked like in the water’s reflection. He then sorted the stuff into piles. He only kept the weapons, clothing and anything else that he could use in these woods. Everything else was brought to the edge of the woods and left there to be claimed by anyone that wanted it. The body was dragged to an area where there were creatures that would gladly feast on it. The young man saw the beasts come out as soon as he had walked away and could hear them enjoying the meal that was left for them. The young one continued to walk away feeling nothing but a since of relief.
Two years later while the young man was going through the woods he heard the distinctive sound of metal on metal. He carefully approached the source and found it too be a woman wearing a tarnished and dented suit of armor. The young one thought that if the armor had been clean it would be of a color similar to that of the sun. She also bore a sword and matching shield. As far as he could recall, this type of armor was not suited for wilderness travel. As the woman making her way through the woods she came upon a section with some thick branches blocking her way. She then drew her sword and set to hack her way through. At this the young man notched an arrow to his bow pulled back the string. Suddenly the woman turned in his general direction and raised her shield. She called out asking as to who was there. He kept his arrow ready and watched. She continued to shout out claiming that she was looking for the glade and meant no harm. At this he responded, in the language of the Fey, that there were better ways to go if she truly meant no harm. She yelled back saying she couldn’t understand his language. He then responded by using his unpracticed common to repeat himself. She then sheathed her sword and lowered her shield. The woman called out again asking to be shown the way. The young man responded by telling her to lay any weapons she had on the ground and step away. She was allowed to keep her shield. After she did as he asked he stepped out with his bow at his side with the arrow still notched but not drawn. The woman had looks of both surprise and shame that a child that looked about half her age had caught her. Although he bore scars and weapons that showed he had been here some time. The young man didn’t understand her expressions at this time. He retrieved her weapons, told her to remain silent and follow his directions. The woman with her pride wounded nodded consent. After about two hours of making there way through the woods they came to the glade. Here the young man asked her what she wanted with this place. The woman claimed she had heard that there were healing properties here. She continued on by explaining that she had been seriously injured recently and was in need of any healing she could get. He then responded by saying three things. 1) The first was a command for her to remove her armor and any clothing that covered her “wounds”. 2) He would keep his arrow trained on her at all times. 3) She should beseech the creature of the water for permission first. At this last one the woman froze and looked at him, then asked what kind of creature lived here. He said that in all the years he lived here he had never seen the creature only spoken with it. Again, surprised, the woman asked just how long he had been here. He said he had been here about six years. At this the woman decided asking questions was just giving her more things to question. She now stripped down to a pair of legless undergarments and a wrapping around her chest. She was covered in large bruises and one hideous gash across her midsection just below the chest wrap. He looked her over and then indicated she should now beseech the creature. At this she called out to the water to which there was response of bubbles and a voice that spoke in the same tongue the young man had used when he first spoke to her. She looked at him pleadingly for help. This look was lost on him and he just looked back at her. She finally broke down and asked for him to translate for her. He then called out to the creature using the Fey tongue and translated back and forth between the two. The last bit of the conversation was between himself and the creature. (This he didn’t translate) After it all he turned to the woman, held out his hand, and asked for her remaining clothes. She removed what little she had left, handed them to young man, and stood still while he examined her again. After this he said he was taking her clothes and equipment to the edge of the glade to wait. He watched her walk into the water before collecting the stuff and walking off. At first she screamed out of surprise a few times then was quiet. After some time she quietly returned and asked for her clothes. He saw that her wounds were now fully healed. Also now that she was clean there was an interesting smell coming from her. He looked her over again and then gave her clothes back. As she dressed she asked him for his name. The young man told her that he had no name and was called either young man or young one by the fey residents. She asked how he could have no name and he replied with a portion of the story he told Pix. The woman then inquired about this Masked one that he spoke of. The young one would say nothing about it. She then suggested that she give him a name, as thanks for his help. He replied by saying he would rather her stay here with him and be his companion. His only friend Pix had left the forest for good six months ago and he had started to feel the loneliness. Pix had been with him from the beginning and was the one who had taught him how to survive. Pix had been a good friend to him. Understanding his need for a friend, and for reasons of her own to not return to her home, she agreed to stay with him for four years. She would need to leave then and no later. The woman would give no reason for the time limit. The young man didn’t need the reason as long as he wasn’t going to be alone. Plus this woman could teach him of the world he didn’t know and he could teach her of the ways of this forest. Since they were at an agreement now, she introduced herself as Anca Charito [note: Varisian/Taldoran names] of Lastwall. Then looked at him and said he would now be known as Oz of the Wild.
The next four years were filled with many things learned and many things taught. Anca taught Oz the ways of a soldier(fighter), as well as general concepts of society, family, and more. He taught her how to survive in the woods. This included knowing which paths to tread, where animals fed regularly, and natural hazard identifiers. At the end of the four years, just before Anca was to leave, Oz told her his entire life story from before they had met. After the story he turned to her and asked if she would become his wife. She was shocked still. Here was a man ten years her junior asking such a thing. He continued by saying that he knew, due to her teachings, that being a husband and wife was similar, but not exactly the same, to how some animals have lifetime mates. The idea of spending his lifetime with this woman, Anca, was joyous enough to dull the past he had endured. At this she burst into tears and embraced him, kissed him, and spoke softly into his ears saying that what he had just said made her happier than anything else in her life ever had. Although he hid it well he knew she was still going to leave. After that he enjoyed every moment with her as if it would be his last. Then it finally came, the morning where he woke and found her gone. She left a note saying that there were things that she had never told him. Things that, if he knew, would change the way he looked at her. There were also matters that she had to attend to or else she would forever live in fear. She goes on to say that she asked the creature of the water to help ease the loneliness that he would inevitably feel. If after a year he still could not be without her and she had not returned to him that he should leave the forest and experience the world. If she had not returned or even sent word to him she would not be seeing him again. At this he laughed aloud and set off to the glade. Once there he called to the creature and asked for it to show itself. Just then a creature of exquisite beauty walked out of the water. From what he had learned from Pix he had suspected it to be a Nereid, but this was an actual Nymph. The first thing she asked was how long he was going to stay. He said about a month. The Nymph then said she should get started on becoming the friend to him that she had always wanted to be. Here Oz sat down and listened to the Nymph’s story. After their month together the Nymph gave him a lock of her hair and a kiss farewell. With that Oz set off to travel, learn, and find the woman Anca and convince her to take him as her husband.

These are additional notes, mainly on Anca with a little directly relating to Oz.
http://www.pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Razmiran
This last one is not actually referenced, but the idea is to have Anca actually from here. She was once a Herald of the Eighth Step (clergy rank 3 out of 5, steps represent the number that can be taken up the 31 step throne that the False god Razmir sits upon.) At some point she was awakened, so to speak, to what was going on around her. She had been a guest of the Exalted Wood before she took up the path of the Steps. She then flees from Razmiran and makes her way to Lastwall in hopes that she might redeem herself. But she is not trusted there and begins traveling, having a suit of armor fashioned in the likeness of the ones the Knights of Ozem wear minus the holy symbols of Iomedae. She hopes to find her redemption by helping them in any way she can. She claims Lastwall as her home in hopes that any good she does that inspires others will lead them there to assist Lastwall in any of there battles with evils that abound around them. But she knows she is also being hunted, this is how she was injured before meeting Oz. So she tries to keep on the move. She was able to hide in that forest because of its many protectors. I am thinking a special corner of this forest (http://www.pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Backar_Forest) is where Oz lived and met Anca.

Shalaye Roiat:
Human:Varisian Female CN "Adventurer" 1 Sczarni(formerly Lantern Lodge)
(kept brief and ambiguous for thematic reasons)

Born to Varisian man and a Tian woman and raised mostly in Riddleport. Her father was a sailor, which is how he met Shalaye's mother. Her mother was an evoker. Shalaye grew up learning different things from her parents. She also used to steal her mother's potions and drink them so much that she had to learn a few tricks to get them down while avoiding her mother. She even got to spend time with her fathers people where she took to learning their traditional weapons and getting a tatoo. Then she spent time with her mother's side in Minata. Between both families she came into contact with future tellers that when they read her future they would always get signs that lead to the Glyph of the Open road. This is what lead her to join the Society where she uses what she learned from her parents to help.

Narast (Charging Beast):
Human:Shoanti (Shriikirri Quah) Male N Dragoon 2 Grand Lodge

Narast was the son of the Quah's shaman and the daughter of his quah's jothka(war-chief) . He used to get into trouble playing with his father's stuff. Eventually his father brought him to their quah's horse master where he was to learn some discipline. It was there that he found a love for riding. Over the years he came to be one with a particular horse, now called "Ochotný nosič"(willing carrier). Around the age of 11 his quah came into contact with a group of Pathfinders. This particular group treated them like they were idiots. This infuriated Narast. After they parted ways he swore he would join the Pathfinder Society and prove to outsiders like the ones that he met, that just because they chose to live simply did not mean they lacked intelligence. So in a few years he set out with his horse to undergo the training to become an agent. He managed to succeed at the confirmation early. When not on missions he works as a stable master.

Ticaria Sapaulo:
Human:Varisian Female N Oracle 2(lore, clouded vision) Grand Lodge

Ticaria grew up traveling most of Varisia with her clan. She had been born with her affliction and pretty much always had to have an escort when away from the caravan. Her parents were simple entertainers, singing and dancing. No one thought there was anything special until she showed signs of seeing without light. It was then that they sought an explanation and learned of the cursed casters. It was then that she was usually left with the clans harrower. With the help of the harrower's divination's and some connections to the world abroad Ticaria was able to learn some helpful abilities as well as spellcasting. Eventually she decided she would like to see the world, really "see" the world. She had heard of the Pathfinders from some Sczarni. She believed this may be her best way to attain the knowledge and power to overcome her affliction. Once she completed her training for the society she came to follow Grandmaster Torch. Since he is no longer with the Society she now listens to Ambrus Valsin. She does her best to work around her limitations. She has a fondness for knowledge, language, talking with people.

Andes Junket:
Halfling Male CG Seperatist of Desna 1(Travel, Animal/Fur) Silver Crusade

Andes has always loved traveling. When he was young his family had to move around often due to having little to no money. They barely managed to get by most of the time. During his adolesence his family came down with such an illness that the afflicted were being driven mad. Andes desperately tried to get help for them. By the time he found a cleric to help there was nothing that could be done. Now alone he decided to head out and see as much of the world as possible. During his travels he often found himself following swallowtails. One time he was brought to a storyteller that was recanting about the death of Curchanus. After hearing the story , of how Lamashtu had stripped him of the domain over beasts and Desna was gifted with the domain over Travel, he felt a certain connection to Desna that he had not felt before. Both had lost important people to a form of madness and both enjoyed the idea of travel. After hearing this Andes decided he would follow Desna and he would do everything he could to take the domain of beasts from Lamashtu and return it to Desna. During his temple training he came into contact with Pathfinders that recanted stories of contact with Lamashtans and their travels in general. This made Andes decide to join the Society. After the training he joined up with the Silver Crusade in a flash. (a fitting place to start for one that wishes to take on a Demon Goddess) During his downtime he has come across a Gnome named Osbjörne preaching about the possibility that Curchanus is not completely dead and if one were able to take back the domain stolen from him he may reveal himself to us again. (See "Retake the Wild!" in the Silver Crusade Faction talk section) Andes has currently declared to himself that anything related to Lamshtu that he comes across in his travels will be cleansed/destroyed. If he also has the power and resources he will reclaim any cleansed subjects in the name of Desna.

Jalsit:
Human:Kellid Female CN Rogue 1 Qadira

Born and raised in Starfall, Numeria to a couple of diplomats. Her parents mainly dealt with outsiders that came through looking to establish connections to Starfall. These ranged from the mercantile, militaristic, and religious. One such person was a Dwarf from Qadira that was looking to establish secure trade. Jalsit, 9 years old at the time, liked this man from the start. The dwarf took kindly to her as well. She even showed and aptitude for business, albeit she also had a bit of a short fuse. When the Dwarf secured a contract to set up a post in Starfall Jalsit got permission to work for him. She spent the next few years really making a name for herself as an excellent merchant. She became so known that a representative of Trade-Prince Aaqir al’Hakam approached her about joining the Pathfinder Society. She was informed of the risks involved but once established she could reap some major benefits. So, she took the risk and signed up for the training. After making it through the confirmation she showed even more skill in her line of work. And now with her latest connections made she has a fairly good base to work from. (I plan on getting the Property Broker vanity for this character asap. After that will be taking multiple business and property vanities.)

Tryam:
Half-Elf Male N Pistolero 1 Grand Lodge

Tryam hails from Alkenstar. His mother is an Elf and his father is a Garundi man originally from Osirion. His mother worked as a river guide and transporter and his father is an engineer. Tryam started helping his father at an early age and since has become a decent engineer in his own right. On the other hand it was mother that got him interested in firearms. She felt if he was going to be raised around such dangerous weapons he should have a healthy fear/respect for them. After getting a decent understanding of the use of his weapon of choice he would take to the wastes to see what he could do. It was during one of these excursions that he came across an interesting object. When he brought it back to his parents his mother seemed to understand what it was and suggested that he take it to the Pathfinder Society. When Tryam asked why she mentioned that it would be a good way for him to get out of the Mana Wastes. He should get out and see the world. Tryam's father then mentioned that they had been aware that he was growing agitated and they figured he could use some exposure to a variety of cultures. Now with this opportunity he could get away see what else was out there. This was true. Tryam had never been beyond the Mana Wastes and had only heard stories of the outside. He had only seen magic on special family trips to the border areas where it would work properly and safely. So, he took his parents advice and sought out the Society. Using his find from the wastes he was able to score a field commission. Now as a part of the Society he follows Ambrus Valsin. He is looking forward to seeing more of the world.
