Fighting defensively + combat expertise?

I know total defense does not stack with combat expertise, but what about fighting defensively?

Yes.

There is no caveat to disallow combining the two.

Also, the Dodge bonuses from each stack, as it is a noted bonus that stacks.

They are both dodge bonuses, so they stack.

(The problem with total defense is that you aren't making a melee attack or a combat maneuver, which you have to do to use Combat Expertise.)


If you plan on doing this halfway regularly, don't forget to put your 3(?) ranks in Acrobatics. Also, check out the Crane Style tree. Could be helpful if you want to focus in that direction.
