Howling Wolf, of The Wolf Clan |
Hello there! I recently completed the fabulous Way of the Kirin, and thus have switched from the Lantern Lodge to the Silver Crusade. I'm thinking of getting a Shinning Wayfinder as a symbol of my new affiliation, but would also like to maintain my roots to Tian by getting a jade inlay.
So, how exactly does the jade inlay's ability to cast guidance work vis-â-vis the ability of a wayfinder to cast light?
- You can cast guidance freely without having to shut off the light feature
- It can only do one thing at a time so casting guidance "turns out the lights" as it were
- You can't cast light because the guidance feature REPLACES the light feature
Also, can I latter add more inlays, such as the diamond one, or can a wayfinder only have one inlay?
Finally, what books would I need to purchase to make adding an ioun stone PFS legal?
Thanks.

Some wayfinders have multiple slots, most have one slot. They have that listed. You can't upgrade a named item in PFS, so no, you can't add slots. You also can't have more than one on your person per the description of the item.
You need the book with the Wayfinder you are buying in it, and you need the book with all the stones and the resonances for having them in a wayfinder, which is in Seeker of Secrets.

A jade wayfinder's guidance ability replaces a wayfinder's ability to produce light. The shining wayfinder isn't a standard wayfinder, but is a wayfinder that has the light ability, so you should be able to replace it with guidance.
I don't see anything preventing you having multiple wayfinder enhancements, unless they replace the same feature, so you couldn't combine a jade wayfinder and messenger wayfinder.
Ioun stone resonance is described in Seekers of Secrets. edit: Apparently there is more about it in the PFS Primer, which I don't yet have.
