DMPC advice

Advice

I'm currently running a campaign for two new player and have decided to insert a DMPC so I can use it to show them more options than just their chosen classes (Inquisitor and Fighter)so that they can learn the rules faster.
My players expressed interest in doing a kingdom building game similar to kingmaker, so in the first session I had them witness the overthrowing of the king and they will take control of a small town next session.
I just want some advice for what kind of character would fit the themes that I could run. Thanks.

In general, DMPC's are a bad idea. But with a small game with new players, one could certainly run a support PC, one that makes THEM fight better and heals them.

Life oracle is the win here.

Dr. Deth is right in general, but that's assuming the players want to be up front. If they made casters, give them a meat shield. Round out the party for them.

The only kind of character I don't like as a DMPC is a scout, because it is too much of a thinking class. It should be a PC that does most of the showing of initiative and taking point. You don't want to funnel information gained through adventuring through a DMPC.

Meat shields, support casters, fighter archers, and other dudes in the rear with the gear or at least sticking with the group are better.

Whatever the character is, I'm going to let them tell it what to do outside of encounters and use it primarily for battlefield control and support in combat. I was considering an illusionist sorcerer to aid in infiltration and sabotage.

Please don't use a DMPC. It's terrible. It's one of the worst things you can do to your players.

It's not going to be a permanent DMPC just around long enough to teach them the system and allow for players away for the summer to come back.
