Advanced Race Guide, the Imperious Bloodline for human sorcerers. It grants the bonus spell Pure Strain at 13th level, however no such spell seems to exist.

That is the question

Are there spells of equal level that could be the spell that should be in place of this nonexistent spell?

Nope I thought of that too, but there´s nothing that would fit.I always think of Pure Strain Humans from Gamma World when I read the name.

bimp...ahem I meant bump

I would also like to know this.

For replacement spells, I'd choose Heroes' Feast or Battlemind Link (UM).

That was the intended echo when I wrote the spell (and the archetype), but it turns out there's a half-orc racial spell that does a pretty similar thing to what the pure strain spell was supposed to do that is also in the ARG book - don't recall the name of it but look in the half-orc section.

That said, there has been no official Paizo errata issued on what spell should be used as a replacement as far as I am aware. If you're playing PFS, you're out of luck until then. If you're playing in a home game, I'd suggest using greater heroism, geas/quest, or heroes' feast as a replacement.

Grand Lodge

Well,I thank you for the insight.

Can't wait for the errata.

Just what I thought:)

You mean Half-Blood Extraction just in reverse right...

Grand Lodge

An alternate version of Half-Blood Extraction would be cool.

Not particularly useful to a sorcerer, though.

So, what happened to the spell? Was it accidentally omitted, or was it decided it should be removed but you forgot to decide on a replacement by the time the book went to print?

So, if I wished to use "Half-Orc Extraction" as the spell, then in this case it would turn any half-human creature into a full blood human? So Half-Elf, Half-Dragon, Half-Fiend, etc all would become normal humans for the duration?

Grand Lodge

Half-Blood Extraction is instantaneous.

It turns the target half-orc into a full-blooded orc.

A human version would turn the target half-human into a full-blooded human.

I don't imagine it was accidental. As a contractor for Paizo (or anyone else), they contract with you to write x-and-such many words on topics A, B, and C. Sometimes there are specific requirements (build a rogue archetype that uses mancatcher and sap, include an encounter with a giant dire tapeworm in the Dungeon of Digestion) and sometimes general guidelines (we need 2000 words of magic items or feats or spells).

Once you turn over your stuff, it's Paizo's to use, alter, amend, cut and save for a future product, or even toss in the trash at their sole discretion. You get your payment based on words contracted and written, not on the words they actually use.

What most likely happened is that one of the developers noticed the spells Pure Strain and Half-Orc Extraction doing somewhat similar things, talked it over with the other devs, and they decided to just keep one, and they chose the half-orc one. However, the fact that pure strain was listed as a bloodline spell for the Imperious bloodline escaped notice, so nobody swapped it out for something different after the spell was deleted. Things like that happen sometimes. There were some sample spellbooks in Ultimate Magic that contained spells that didn't end up in the book. When you've got a kajillion very specific rule elements in a book, it's harder than you'd think to simultaneously and dynamically track all of them, so that changes at any point cross-pollinate to any other mention of the same.

I can't give you the original text of the spell, as that is Paizo's IP now and they've chosen not to publish it, but as I recall it did pretty much that - either permanently or instantaneously (don't remember which) suppressed any kind of "half-" template, including stat mods, special abilities, and all the rest. I think you could choose to make a half-race into either one of its component races; I don't think you were restricted to making them human, but that would work fine too.

Have the devs noticed this thread yet?

I REALLY want to play this bloodline.

Grand Lodge

Someone is likely giving it consideration.

Personally, I'm hoping they put in heroes' feast. Sorcerers that get spells from other class lists are awesome!

Grand Lodge

I still hope they release an alternate version of Half-Blood Extraction.

Human supremacy based spells are awesome!

Human: Where is the pure strain spell for the imperious bloodline sorcerer?

The pure strain spell was cut in development but its name in the bonus spells list wasn't changed. Replace pure strain with repulsion.
This has been noted for a future reprint of the Advanced Race Guide.
