Gaining Darkvision

Advice

Grand Lodge

I have a Duergar casting the Darkness spell often, to utilize the Nightmare Fist, and Nightmare Weaver feats.

I have a few fellow players without Darkvision.

Any cheap, effective ways to give them Darkvision?

scrolls are fairly inexpensive. Making a custom item that can cast it a couple times per day is relatively cheap as well.

Not super-duper cheap, but they're always on.

They are pretty cheap if you have a crafter, depending on the level 6000 gp shouldn't be too much to spring for.

Goggles of Darkvision (12k, 6k if crafted ), Alchemist infusion or have any of your spellcasters with the spell ( 2nd level, so not the most exciting spell-list either to steal slots from ) on your guy.

Alternative race traits are probably a bit late now and also normally come with light blindness to boot.

We are 7th now.
I don't need to have them always have Darkvision, but at key times, it's important.

Wouldn't "always on hand" Darkvision be better than "at key times" Darkvision? Especially since you said Darkness was being cast fairly often, seemingly as part of a standard combo?

But if the Goggles aren't your style, I refer you back to scrolls. Or a wand. You can have a wand of Darkvision, can't you?

Grand Lodge

Well, the goggles are expensive, and I would need at least three of them.

We have no crafter either.

Goggles are super expensive. Darkvision spell is hours/level, so even a base CL wand, 4500gp, will do the trick for 3 hours.

Grand Lodge

So, wand of Darkvision is the cheapest, simplest option?

unless you have someone who can cast communal darkvision?

Well, we have two Sorcerers, and both have Darkvision, and are unwilling to give up those spells known.

well then a long term solution would be to buy a 'page of spell knowledge' from UE for 9,000g.

it is twice the cost of a wand, but will give both your sorcerers the ability to cast communal darkvision for a 3rd level spell slot. they may not want to spend a spell known on it but the should have plenty of 3rd level spells to cast it, and the page can be traded back and forth for whoever wants to spend the slot on it. plus you have caster level to duration instead of the minimum for the wand.

Grand Lodge

That's actually not a bad idea.

that's someting needed to be aken care of in th group...

you'll be unwilling to defend them or heal them .
if a player in my group would do something that cause me to be hinder - and refuse to take effort to correct it - i'd kill it.

Grand Lodge

Well, the frequent response is "don't cast Darkness".
Then I remind them that my build depends on it, and I get "Oh, yeah, that's right".

I am working on synergy, as the crew seems new to that.

I just got our Aasimar to stop casting Daylight, and Dazzling my PC.
