Can Animate Objects be made permanent? If so, I'd Animate pretty much everything in my house, and quite a few things outside my house too.

Then I'd animate my house.

Yes they can. There are two methods: Cast the spell and make it permanent with permanency (which can be dispelled), or make them as constructs in their own right with Craft Construct (which cannot be dispelled).

I had a witch that animated her house and used it to attack an adventuring party. Nearly crushed them into the earth it did.

Dotting.

Also linked in the spell guide.

I am going to refer to this in a couple levels.

Unseen Servant seems too useful and too easy a spell to leave home without it functioning. In fact, wizards/sorcerers in our group even at low levels always have it and Mage Armor cast when they get out of bed.

Unseen Servant is not very useful for the adventuring wizard as a long-term 'buff'.

The fact it only moves at a 15, means it will usually get dispelled as soon as you start moving from point A to point B, unless you willingly only ever walk at half speed.

'Tis fine if you're sitting in one spot... lots of suckage once you start traveling.

Um. Generally you will be walking at half speed. Anything faster is effectively jogging.

The unseen servant could ride on your cart or wagon. If you don't have one, you should! You can animate them to attack stuff!

Carry it? It appears to have no weight of its own. Just transport the invisible servant via piggyback and send it out whenever you need something done.

It's also shapeless. I don't know how you'd carry something that has no shape.

I realize there are a lot of different ways you could interpret Unseen Servant. It could be an actual invisible being, but I think that if it was, there'd be a lot more description. To me, the spell sounds more like a semi-autonomous telekinesis.

What would an Unseen Servant look like with See Invisible or Glitterdust?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

The Unseen Servant can Run to move 60 feet per round, which is the same as a standard base speed 30 character double-moving.

Base speed 15 really isn't that big an issue.

Anything worth doing is worth overdoing to the point of doubtful sanity.

With that in mind, I present you Long Term Buffs.
