Butterfly Sting

Seize the Moment

Lets say Big Guy and Little Guy are threatening Bad Guy.

Big guy has a Naginata (x4 crit, Reach), Improved Critical, Seize the Moment and Combat Reflexes.

Little Guy has a Fauchard (18-20 crit, Reach), Improved Critical, Butterfly Sting, Seize the Moment and Combat Reflexes.

If I read this right, when Little Guy confirms a crit, he does normal damage and immediately grants Big Guy an AoO, which Auto-Crits if it hits. Because Big Guy just confirmed a crit (automatically), Little Guy then also gets an AoO (and another chance to crit).

Do I have this right?

If so, ouch...

Teamwork is a beautiful, scary thing.

Grand Lodge

Inquisitors do not require this "teamwork" thing.

An Inquisitor can do this on his own Via
Broken Wing Gambit (give opponent +2 to hit and damage you, when he does, ally gets AOO)
Paired Opportunists (you get a free AOO, when an Ally AOO's, with +4 to attack)

Doesn't do as much damage as a crit, but comes up more.

This gets worse...

Let's picture a phalanx of higher level mercenaries, all fighters armed with Fauchads, Little Guy's Feat spread, and Lunge.

With a 15 foot reach and a 5x2 formation, about five of these guys can threaten a given Medium sized target.

If any one of them gets a crit he gives it away with Butterfly Sting and, they all get AoOs, one of which is an auto-crit, which gives them all another set of AoOs.

So, for every successful Crit, these guys get a total of 9 additional attacks (any one of which could Crit and start the cycle over)

I'm picturing a squad of monster-slaying spearmen who avoid AoE attacks with tower shields (which grant evasion), march up and rapid-stab just about anything to death in a few seconds.

Since they're all a minimum of 8th level, give them all a Cloak of the Montebank.

Poof! Stabitystabstabstabstabitystabitystabstabstabstabstabstabstabstabstabstabad nauseum

"Good work guys, lets go get paid and go home."

Won't work unless the ally also has Broken Wing Gambit.

The inquisitor's solo tactics give him, and only him, the benefits of the teamwork feat as if his ally possessed it. Thus, the ally is not going get the AoO.

I posted a pair of ratfolk guys using those (and much more) in the DPR Olympics topic

they have an average DPR per round per PJ (at level 11): 175
