Freedom of movement is nice, unless you have it via an item or friend in the party.
If you don't like that one, Dance of a Hundred Cuts could be good, or Greater Invisibility.
If you're a ranged/archer Paladin, Tiny Hut is just mean. Otherwise Haste, Slow, or perhaps Displacement.
Versatile Weapon could help you overcome DR. Tongues could help you use your Diplo skill on critters you otherwise can't talk to. Or perhaps Glitterdust or Mirror Image.
At 1st level, Expeditious Retreat (to close with enemies) and Silent Image are both useful.
Note I suggested Arcane (Bard) spells, because Paladins already have pretty good access to Divine spells.

Level 1 : Expeditious Retreat. Paladins in heavy armor are slow, with this spell you will never have that problem again. Command can give you some nice tactical opportunities in a fight.
Level 2 : Glitterdust and Silence are good, Blur or Mirror Image will make your paladin last longer.
Level 3 : Slow/Haste are both good but should be already used by your party wizard. Blink and Displacement help you last longer in fights too but you have already good spells for that one level earlier. Bestow Curse is a good offensive spell to disable a major target, and you are more likely to be in range than your wizard. Invisibility Purge if you have noone to deal with invisible creatures.
Level 4 : FoM, Dimension Door, Spell Immunity are very good. Divine Power is an option but you shouldn't need to buff yourself normally. Shadow Conjuration is highly versatile. Air walk if you have no other option for flying.

^ These are all good suggestions.
I would add Vanish to the list as a possibility (even short term invisibility is better than most 1st level spells paladins have access to), Sound Burst (ranged AoE stun? SWEET, though Glitterdust is probably a bit better, but not by much IMO), and Thunderous Drums, just because it's the only decent blasty spell you get access to, and if you take the Magical Knack trait it functions at almost full caster level.
Charm Person, Hideous Laughter, and Touch of Gracelessness are all excellent choices as well. You've got Blindness/Deafness and Shatter, both of which can really screw over martial enemies. Good Hope is normally pretty specific to bards, making it a good choice for versatility, especially if you already have a spellcaster that can cast Haste, Slow, and/or Displacement.
I'll also add Wall of Sound, Shocking Image, Hold Monster, and Dimension Door as great 4th level spells.
Really, the main problem with Unsanctioned Knowledge is finding the right spells for your Paladin's fighting style. I often build melee-oriented versatility specialized Paladins, so anything that broadens my role in the group is beneficial. As such, I'll usually grab something like:
1st: Vanish or Hideous Laughter/Charm Person (Vanish for Scouting, Hideous Laughter/Charm Person for crowd control)
2nd: Glitterdust/Sound Burst or Mirror Image (Glitterdust/Sound Burst for control, Mirror Image for defense)
3rd: Haste or Thunderous Drums (Haste because it's amazing, Thunderous Drums because it's an AoE ranged option with a nice control effect)
4th: Dimension Door or Wall of Sound (Travel Options are nice, and Wall of Sound for Control)

Unless you get it off before combat starts, I've never really been a fan of True Strike. You get one guaranteed hit next turn by not attacking this turn, but you have full BAB so you have a good chance of hitting most things anyway, so why not just try to hit it this turn and save the slot for something else?

chaoseffect wrote:Looking at the wording on Mirror Image, would it really help? It's not really "miss chance" as used by most spells, but yeah I can see your point otherwise. It would if you close your eyes.
So you'd still have +20 to hit plus no chance of missing your enemies illusion?

I took this with my paladin and i picked
1st-Expeditous Retreat - Because i was tired of being last to the party..
2nd-Silence - I considered mirror image alot here, but in the end i decide shutin up an enemy caster was a better use. I cast on myself usually..
3rd-Good Hope - Its just an overall great spell if u have no bard.. I mean really really great.
4th-Freedom of Movement - Again tough choice here, as i almost picked dimension door but in the end i decided not being held/grappled etc etc..
