For some shameless self-advertising, here are the races for a game I run in a so far small world of my own creation.
Humans from (about) eleven cultures. From tribes, to collapsed regions, to feudal territories to free peoples.
Under-realm Ibixian: warlike goatfolk. +1 ECL
Boggard: medium frog. +2 ECL
Small lizardfolk.
Burly medium-sized lizardfolk. +1 ECL
Young otyugh: tentacled eating machine. +2 ECL
Thorn: small fey rogues +1 ECL
Woodling: plant spellcasters. +2 ECL
Wood woad: plant guardian/stalkers. +2 ECL
Ratling: medium rat. +1 ECL
Centaur or southern zebrataur. +2 ECL
It's a not Tolkien game, so no elves, dwarves or halflings. Still some fey though, there are gremlins.

So the Catfolk, Ratfolk, Suli, Vishkanya, and Varana are comparable to the core races, and aren't overpowered like say, Drow or Aasimar or the like? I'm running a game in Golarion and the list on page 10-11 looks like this
Comparable to Core
Goblin
Hobgoblin
Kobold
Orc
Tengu
Not comparable
Drow
Duergar
Gillmen
Merfolk
Strix
Svirfneblin
All native Outsiders
So again I ask, Catfolk, Ratfolk, Suli, Vishkanya and Varana are closer to goblins and kobolds, or should I put them in the "do not play" list with Duergar and Gillmen?

well based solely on the advance race guide list (which I just found), and given that the statted point value for the core races is 11 or less:
Vanara: 8
Vishkanya: 13
Suli: 16
Ratfolk: 9
Catfolk: 9
So depending on how strict you are, The Suli and maybe the Vishkanya (Tengu are 13) would be too powerful, but the others should be fine.
