Dog-gone it, what's the deal?

I'm told the 5th printing of the CRB changes riding dog to just "dog" on the summon monster I list of creatures summonable.

The PRD does not show this nor do any of the errata documents.

Is there anything else changed in the 5th printing that is not in the PRD or in any errata documents?

Am I misinformed and the 5th printing does NOT have this change?

Inquiring minds want to know!

The light spell, for one.

The Exchange

Oh yeah that one too. One of the other collaborators on the team caught that one and updated the site already for that. Any others?

Apparently the 5th printing added the phrase "from the point touched" to describe the touched object's glowing, but there's no online record of that change. It's already been brought up in the New PRD thread.

Ah...stealth errata. A fine D&D tradition. :-)

Having said that, it was pretty clear that having the riding dog on the SM I list was an oversight, considering it was removed from the SNA I list quite a while ago.

I want to get all the text from the 5th printing and diff it with the 4th printing, then cross reference between the errata. But I don't have a 4th printing on hand. :(

The Exchange

That would be an interesting comparison Cheapy. I wonder if anyone has a 4th printing pdf?

I do have a 2nd printing at my home computer, but...that's like 3 times the cross referencing necessary!

Do you have a program that would do an intelligent diff on a PDF file (where there's all kinds of formatting junk that could change between versions, for instance)?

Nope!

Removed a post. We don't talk about our security features openly for obvious reasons.

However, this is a known error, and has been discussed on the PRD support thread (in the last page, I believe). The tech team does update the PRD, but as with everything else, it's on a long to do list and is updated when we get the proper amount of time to focus on it. In the future, please post to that thread with issues.

Chris, I believe Reyst's purpose for this thread is more so that these changes weren't in the errata released to update old printings to new ones, especially ones that change the way the game works like the summon monster and light changes.

While I don't know what weird magic you guys use to update the PRD, if it's going thru the errata documents and applying everything, then the PRD will have the same issue that we ran into where the errata documents don't document everything that changed.

The Exchange

Hm.. While my post certainly DID mention a security feature, it was not done so with any intent or purpose of circumventing security for nefarious purposes, merely to remove things which would make one PDF different from another so they could be compared carefully for differences. Since I had seen such security features mentioned previously I hadn't thought that how I had referenced it would be an issue. Oh well, ok, sorry about that!

So riding dog was change in the books?
