Hey, neither do I! One of the things with naval terminology is that it can be extremelly idyosincratic, and the names usually don't translate between languages. So while, sure, I can name all sorts of ship elements in Castillian, I still get confused with most of them in English.

It's like trying to name fishes or trees in another language.

In Gulliver's Travels, Swift just made up all (? some, anyway) of the nautical terms.

Hee hee! Jonathan Swift would've made a great internet troll.

Laufey is actually the name of Loki's mother in Norse Mythology. Neither his mother nor his father were frost giants.

The northernmost place to have hosted a World Cup game of football is Sandviken in Sweden (in 1958).

His father was the frost giant Fárbauti. Who was married to Laufey or in some stories Nál, the mother of Loki. Laufey also seems to have been one of the Vanir. I looked this up quite extensively for my Norse/Russian/Finnish game I am currently off and on running.

Danica McKellar, who played Winnie Cooper on The Wonder Years, graduated summa cum laude from UCLA. While still an undergrad, she helped to formulate the mathematical 'Chayes–McKellar–Winn theorem'. She's also written three best-selling books aimed at encouraging middle-school and junior high school aged girls to learn and study mathematics.

That makes sense.

Olive Oil is not supposed to smell or taste like olive. If it does, it is sign of a mistreatment during the production process.

Before putting together the Attractions, Elvis Costello recorded his first album, My Aim Is True with a country-rock band called Clover who went on to become Huey Lewis and the News.

Journey was formed from the remnants of Santana, after Carlos left the band. Steve Perry and his trademark voice didn't start with them until after they'd recorded a couple of totally fogettable albums.

Also, Santana's hit "Black Magic Woman" was originally a Fleetwood Mack song.

There have been five books written, and four films made about "the fifth Beatle" Stuart Sutcliffe.

I can actually see Selleck in that kind of a role. Not as effectively as the guy from the movies, but I can still see it.

WHAT? I loved that album! Huey Lewis and the freakin' news? I think I just threw up a little.

Not all the News, but some. I think Huey was on vacation and they needed some quick cash.
