Symbol of Sealing; Permanency and effects

The Symbol of Sealing spell is neat, but I'm terribly, terribly confused as to its effects...

First off, It's not listed under "permanency", like virtually every other symbol in existence, as far as I can tell. Is this deliberate? Does anyone have an estimate as to the cost, if not? (As they vary from symbol to symbol...)

Second off, What happens if someone manages to destroy the Wall of Force it generates? Does this mean the non-permanent seal becomes Entirely useless? Nothing seems to suggest it can be generated again...

...Those two questions out of the way, the Rest of the spell's description confuses me further:

It's got quite a potent material cost; Unlike other symbols, it's Immediately triggered... All this after 10 minutes of casting

Password feature aside... Am I reading correctly to assume it's merely a Wall of Force, costing roughly half the Permanency cost for a typical wall of force, that lasts only 10 minutes / caster level?

Although the Symbol itself is suggested Permanent, is there no other effect once the initial wall of force dissipates? Again, there's nothing to suggest that the wall regenerates once destroyed...

Perhaps someone can bestow some insight on what makes this 2 hour long seal worth 5000 gp?

...And, as a similar question: If a custom Magic item was forged to bestow a continuous Wall of force... Would that be considered the same as Permanency; Destroy the wall Once, and it's gone for good, rendering the item useless?

I been wondering same thing as bane and didnt find anything other in search of forums, so hoping to bring this post back to life in hopes someone can answer it.

Bane seems to have largely answered his own questions. The Symbol of Sealing, as it appears in the PRD at least, is of questionable value at best. The wall of force effect isn't permanent, and doesn't regenerate, though the spell itself is already permanent. Makes little sense, honestly.

Where this in one of my games, I'd simply rule that it's treated as any other Symbol, make it activate on proximity unless the command word was spoken/subject was attuned, and have the same rules for Permanency as Symbol of Death.

In short, a Symbol of Death, except it creates a wall of force over an opening or door, rather than killing things.

i think you missed something here. looking at the spell here

the SPELL duration is permenant. the force wall it triggers last 10 min per caster. it doesn't say that after that the symbol is gone. ("Once triggered, the WALL remains for 10 minutes per caster level.")

normal sumbols have nothing list in their duration. and in the effect say they last 10 min per level if not made pemenant.

to what i see this thing IS a permenant spell with unlimitied uses. each time it is triggered it makes a wall of force that last 10min\level.

notice that later on when describing the ability to let others pass without trigering the wall it state :"the password only prevents them from triggering the symbol, not from ignoring its effects if triggered."
-since this wall is auto trigers after casting the apssword will be unefective since the wall is allready triggered and no1 can pass unless we break down the wall. UNLESS the password is for later use once the wall goes down but the symbol remain.

this also explan why you don't have it as a spell that premenecy can be used with. it is allready permenent.
