problem with my order

Is there another problem with my order this month? It still says pending but I was charged for it last week. I believe that you only charge me when it ships. This happened last order and nothing was done until I said something.


I just went and checked my bank account and now the charge from last week has disappeared and a new charge is there from today. It appears things may be ok now for whatever reason. Something like this happened last time and my order was kept pending due to a problem on your end that was not noticed until I said something. Sorry for the trouble.

However, at the discretion of your bank, an authorization can (and almost always will) put a hold on that amount of your credit. The duration of this hold is entirely up to your bank. If you are checking your balance via online banking, this authorization may show up as a "pending transaction" (or it may not show up at all). An authorization will only remain open for a set period of time that depends on your bank's policies. Since the average order on paizo.com takes anywhere from 3 to 11 business days to fulfill, some orders will necessarily be authorized twice. This is especially true for preorders and backorders.

With subscription shipments, we generally authorize the payment method for the subscription order a couple days before we begin shipping out the actual books. When we do that, subscribers often see a "pending" transaction on their bank account. Once we begin shipping, these "pending transactions" generally are then used to settle the charges we put through when we click the ship button.

It appears there is a problem with my order. It still says pending.

How this will look to you, depending on your bank, is that from the time your card is authorized until your order is shipped is a Pending charge, so if your order has not been shipped it will say pending.

During a subscription run we have thousands of shipments to send out which is why we give an estimated time in our ware house of 2-6 days.


There have been 2 different pending charges and both have disappeared. Until last month I never had a problem. I would receive the notification on friday and my order would ship on monday. It has been 7 days since my notification and it still has not shipped. Last month was like this month and there was a problem on your end of things. I never had a problem until I made a complaint about how 4 Winds gaming was not sending out their book. I paid for that book in march and it still has not been printed.

We put the authorization through Thursday, Jun 30 2011 07:33:24 PM PST which is when we sent you the email notice. We try to do the email notice a few days before we begin shipping subscriptions so that if subscribers have any issues they can be resolved before we begin actually shipping. Usually we start shipping the Monday after we do the authorization process, however, in this case, Monday was the July 4th holiday and we didn't begin shipping until Tuesday. We literally have *thousands* of orders to package and ship during subscription runs and we usually have 2-4 people in the warehouse. It usually takes us about a week to get all of our packages shipped during the subscription run. Sometimes you might be at the beginning and sometimes you might be at the end, it's an automated process.

As for the authorizations, there has been only one on your account for this order. However, recently you did place two orders for PDFs; there was a charge for 1731870 on June 30th and a charge for order 1738087 on July 5th.

I have no special knowledge of Paizo's prioritization process, but it appears to me that when I do that my shipment is significantly delayed. I kind of assumed they did all the 'straightforward' orders first and then moved on to those with other orders waiting to be packaged with our subscriptions.

Ah well - scratch that theory then. :)


It did ship today. The only item in my sidecart is a book from 4 Winds that keeps getting moved to the next month. It has been in my sidecart since march so I don't think that is the problem. I never had a problem until last month. I will give it one more month and then I am finished. I think I know what is happening. Thank you both for the help and idea's.
