Being naked is a good way to get sent home, too...

Sounds like you could use an ice-pack and some keeping the foot still.

Hmm, A newcomer stopped by? Cool.

Yeah she's one of my players. I yakked about the forum enough and she joined up. =)

I hope she keeps speaking to you once she's experienced a BttH blitz.

Actually they don't do anything if you break your pinky toe either. You just get stuck wearing sandals until it heals. At least that's what happened to me.

They taped my pinkie toe to the next one and sent me home. The tape helped a lot, really, but I couldn't get into toed shoes for a couple of weeks.

In other health news, I suspect this 'bug bite' is actually a touch of shingles. Now I just need a roofer.

Yeah, they couldn't tape my pinkie toe. I have long monkey toes but my pinky toe is too curved. Apparently the bones grew that way. My feet are weird.

Also, sorry to hear you have shingles. I've heard it's pretty awful. :(

If it's shingles, it's really, really mild. But the lasting burning skin pain from my eye back along my head is kind of a clue. My swollen eye looked just like some of the shingles pics, too. However, self-diagnosis is always tricky. It's healing, whatever it is.

This is good news at least.

I hope it isn't shingles. I hear that is some awful pain. I've never had chicken pox either, so it's all Greek to me.

I remember my grandmother screaming in pain from them, and her sister actually died of a stroke caused by pain in the midst of a terrible bout. I used some ice when it got bad, and put a lot of benadryl and topical anesthetic on it, but it's not nearly as painful as it could be. They say it's triggered by stress or exposure to a child with chicken pox. Either could work for me!

PM me with your snail mail address and I'll send you some virii. :)

I hope your toe is feeling better and that you can tough it out with some ice and ibu. I always feel so stupid asking for time off for things like that, even though they're legit.

Yep. I asked. Managers are conferring.

wow, that sounds serious. I am sorry your great aunt died in so much pain. I'm glad to hear that the ice and analgesics are working for you.

Well, I did have to look at the typeface. Does that count?

Flying is easy. Getting clearance and proving you aren't a terrorist to Homeland Security is the hard part. Hopefully his toe heals quickly and straight.

(And hopefully, you Treppa, are well along the Road to Wellville too.)

Yes. They're very fetching, though, aren't they?

Ugh. I'm very glad to be done with the class I had to take this week.

Too much detail:
It was a class based on this book, and while I'm sure parts of it will be useful, other parts of it were really uncomfortable for me. Some aspects of the class overlapped with work I've done in domestic violence and rape crisis counseling and victim's advocacy in strange ways. I've spent years learning to recognize signs that a situation was about to become abusive and/or dangerous and counseling people about how to get out of those situations (or how to deal with the consequences after the danger has passed). The class focused on seeing a lot of the same signs, but remaining engaged in the interaction and trying to turn it around. I'm still not sure what kind of long-term use I'm going to get out of the class, but it's definitely been an interesting (and exhausting!) two days.

So I get all the way to work, and realize I left my purse, with my phones and flash drives nd everything at home. i turn around to get it, getting to work about 50 minutes later than I would have otherwise. my car isn't starting nicely yesterday or today, so I bring it to the shop too.

they're not sure what it is, so I have to find some time to leave it at the shop for them to diagnose.

Hold together (cheaply) for a couple more months, car! I'm saving up for another one!

casts gentle repose on jess doors car

So I'm at work right now, in a hipster bar in the hipsteriest part of hipster hell, but it is also one of the most beautiful parts of Brooklyn I have seen outside of downtown and cobble hill/historical areas. I can see the Brooklyn of my youth, the graffiti and rusting old buildings that comprised the industrialized part of Brooklyn when it was a city and not a borough, and even the less gaudy new construction the hipsters and proto yuppies are bringing into the area. It all fits together somehow and it is beautiful. It almost makes up for the copious amounts of b*$@&&#@ I had to deal with in the first meeting I had today. The breeze is coming in from the ocean and adult contemporary from 1992 is being pumped in. It's almost peaceful.

I was typing in "tongues" It happens when your head hits the keyboard, typically in exasperation.

Tongues doesn't work very well on the iPhone. I just tried it and only got two letters and some very strange looks from the other people waiting for the train.

Note to self do not mash head against iPhone while bored and waiting for the train home. Judging from the looks I got I think I will have a seat all to my self on the trip home.

Good morning FAWTLY Folk! Happy Thursday! Not really, as I have a circus to attend (not the good kind with clowns). But I at least have somethign to look forward to - my flight home to New Orleans for the weekend.

Scarab Sages

Big to do today over in another building - giving presentations to some folks from D.C. Actually, to call them folk would be an insult to folk everywhere. These ultradouches are more like bloated, egotistical meatsacks.

Scarab Sages

Luckily, once I'm done with my presentations, I'm leaving.

Scarab Sages

Watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes again last night. What a great movie - a refreshing and creative reboot of an otherwise worn out (but awesome) franchise.

Scarab Sages

Andy Serkis deserves some kind of recognition for his work. The dude is FAWESOME!
