That's been around in every edition.

Tolkien even had a note about halflings Hobbits competing in rock skipping contests from early in their youths to well past adulthood. The race as whole took great pride at this.

In the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy you see Merry and Pippin throw rocks several times.

You would think that the Order would finally realize by now don't split the party.

Well, Belkar skulking off by himself aside, they didn't have much choice, this time.

What "sulking off by himself"?

Durkula threw him out the window.

No, Belkar willingly separated himself from Roy, and got into a fight with HPoH alone. It was only after he had already split off from Roy that HPoH through him out a window, to stop Belkar from telling Roy what he heard/saw HPoH do.

And Belkar is still wounded, and not getting healed. The group has lost their party healer. You'd think they'd have plenty of potions, though, and Elan is the backup healer. Something tells me that could become important later, though.

Well, I think he sill only has Mass CLW, unless he ever got around to swapping in Cure Critical.

Don't forget about Julio's endorsement deal with the Potion manufacturer!

I love that joke. I'm sure someday it will be dated; so perfect for Julio - the OOTS most interesting man!

Apparently there is a company which claims to have helped the Giant (and others) market his Kickstarter, and are trying to scam people into giving them money. The Giant says that it is a scam and he never worked with them during his KS. Apparently the fake advertising company keeps changing its name, too. The Giant just made nine tweets about it, which you can see in the sidebar of the GitP forums (which shows the Giant's twitter feed).

That was a pointless digression. Which means it'll come back to haunt the team later.

I do think its a good point about adventuring parties when it comes to epic-quests. Not everyone is interested in this kind of work - they just want to get paid. The longer these kind of stories move on, it's easy to forget that not everyone lives in that rarefied air of heroics.

There's definitely some potential ground for story in Andi's resentment/frustration with Bandana - I could see her helping one of their foes out of spite. She's already been antagonistic about the situation when it comes to the captain; I wonder if Scoundrel made Andi certain promises he didn't keep.

Of course, adventurers have so much gold at this level that their pocker change should set a party of normal people for life

Honestly, I'm kind of wondering if this is just romantic tension between Andi and Bandana. But I've had trouble taking my shipping goggles off ever since Sharoth glued them to my face while I was sleeping, the prankster devil.

There might be a problem when they reach the destination—Andi might hijack the ship, Bandana might get killed, Bandana might give into pressure after Andi or someone else on the crew gets killed—or it might just be background info to explain why the pirates keep ferrying them around.

I don't think Andi would sell them out, though. Andi's not a jerk, she's just somewhere on the morally Neutral spectrum and doesn't like being pushed around.

They missed out by naming their own price and not letting the adventurers start the haggling.

While that is true and PCs indeed quickly forget what the prices for basic products are, I have also seen PCs with lvl10+ WBL under their +6 belt haggling the very smallest copper coin :-/

I love how Haley knows everything there is to know about money, no matter how obscure.

Truly we should create the Greedy Rogue archetype in her honor, with bonuses to any skill pertaining to money in all its forms :-)

This is why I think Knowledges (and Appraise, and Linguistics, and possibly Survival and Profession, and at least half of Spellcraft) should just be swapped for a skill closer to the Wises from Mouse Guard, where you just know everything about a particular subject you write in. Knowledge (economics) would definitely fit the cut of Haley's jib.

I think "Nokrud" was an amusing nod to the Elan/Nale shtick. Also...Leechy Veinquaff?

In any case, this is one of those strips that makes me wonder:
Has Rich been keeping a notebook of these for just such a gag; or is this more a skimming the forum boards for nicknames.

Lastly, Belkar's response to being told he's right is great: "Are you just trolling me at this point?"

I'm disappointed Phyrnglsnyx, though it's not exactly surprising.

Going off the last panel, maybe we could call Durkon* "Chronicles of Durkon," while referring to the original Durkon as "World of Durkon Classic."

Oooh, or maybe we can call one of them Durkon 8.1, and the other one Durkon 10. If anyone asked what happened to Durkon 9, just sarcastically say "we couldn't call him Durkon One."

Or if the vampire is destroyed and Durkon is ressurected, we could call the vampire "Durkon: The Masquerade," and the restored Durkon "Durkon: The Requiem."

'Our former friend'?
The 'Ale-drinker not the blood-sucker'?
The 'The cleric formerly known as'?
The 'mask that we must see beyond'?

The last one being the most realistic.

I think some people would give that title to Sir Galahad, but I am an O-Chul fan.

No, it's definitely O-Chul. Galahad is cool and all, but the Authurian Legend is kind of a downer, despite its ending in some amount of glory.

Certainly Galahad is the best in his omniverse, however! :D
