The minute RPG writer Rone “The Jade” Barton saw the comic strips of Hugo “Butterfrog” Solis on the Paizo forums, he knew he wanted a to work with Hugo on a strip for Atomic Array, our biweekly gaming podcast. Hugo came on board and the two of them created Blammo’s Atomic Episodes – A new RPG-based web comic.
Atomic Array spotlights RPG games of every stripe, including our Pathfinder episode,so our mascot, Blammo, a sardonic lil mushroom cloud, saunters boldly from strip to strip, through the many specific game worlds featured on the Array.
Come check out our first efforts and let us know what you think. The guys are working to get a bunch done quickly and soon we’ll catch up to our latest episodes.
Blammo strips thus far:
Colonial Gothic from Episode One.
Reign of Discordia from Episode Two.
Prophecy from Episode Three.
Click on the strips to enlarge them, and while you’re there, go on and download an episode or two.
NOTE: You'll need to scroll down a little to see the script, and want to click the image to enlarge it.

I liked the discordia one. :)
Darrin Drader's Reign of Discordia game setting recalls a vision of the future that's quite fun and can be, if you want it to, campy like late 70's TV shows such as Buck Rogers and Battlestar Galactica... with some good ol' 60's Star Trek thrown in for good measure. So this strip plays off some of those show's sillier elements.
BTW, it's a fantastic setting book.

Congrats guys! And in Stan Lee's words EXCELSIOR !
Thanks, Baron.:) We still have 19 episodes to catch up on but I've got Hugo locked in the basement, sketching senselessly while surrounded and scourged by fifteen flagellating fey. Turns out he likes that sort of thing... both the aliteration and the faery dominatrices.

I (ahem) wrote them. It's a Rone/Hugo collaboration.
Let the praise-showering commence or I'll double the price to view them from zero to two times zero!

How long do you need to go unpraised before we are paid to view them?
I am prepared to laugh silently to myself for quite some time.

Laugh, Damn You! Laugh!
We all know you are laughing, so just fess up to it.

Great strips you two!
Both of you never cease to amaze me.
Keep that up, won't ya?
I feel the very same about the talents of your and your alter ego, evil Adam Daigle. (Who still seems like a really decent guy.)

I can tell you're one of those guys who can figure out how to break a game system. I'm going to have to co-opt that genius for fun and profit!

An exciting development!
Now there's Atomic Frog!
*sings* Ive heard the Atomic Dog, Ive seen the Crunchy Frog. But I'd be done see'n 'bout everything when I see an Atomic Frog.
**EDIT after reading said strips of comic**
All Hail the Rone/Hugo! sounds a bit like Rankin/Bass, and that's fine company to keep.

These are awesome fun, guys! Well done. Hugo - rock it! And whoever wrote these, not bad too.
:^)
Just kidding Jade! You remain my favorite professional humorist. Well done!
Thanks, Lou. The challenge was to design an iconic character who could be even mildly funny despite the fact that he has no clear job or recurring role. You can get a lot of mileage out of those things. He's just there to stroll through various RPG game settings and react. With an ever changing arena I can't invest much in Blammo other than his general (mis)demeanor. Luckily, even if my humor misses here and there, Hugo's art is utterly mesmerizing. It delights the eye enough to make any viewing worthwhile and carry the show. Seriously.

I think they might still be in the basement. And really, who could blame them? :-)

Thank you all for the kind words, guys. As promised... three more of Blammo's Atomic Episodes! As always, just scroll halfway down the page until you find the strip, then click to enlarge.
For our Gen Con Indy 2008 special, we introduce Blammo's friend Sucko
Blammo’s Atomic Episodes: Gen Con Indy 2008
For our Interface-Zero show, a cyberpunk setting for True 20, our strip may smack of Lawnmower Man meets Wargames.
Blammo’s Atomic Episodes: Interface-Zero
And for our New Gods of Mankind episode, an RPG that allows every player to control a god, we show what happens when wannabee Sumerian legends mess with the incarnated fruit of modern science.

Sorry guys...I'll try to hurry up and finish the next batch on the weeked.

Strips 7-9 delivered hot and fresh! Three more of Blammo's Atomic Episodes! As always, just scroll halfway down the page until you find the strip, then click to enlarge.
For our Thousand Suns episode, Blammo enacts classic space opera. Well sorta. ;)
Blammo’s Atomic Episodes: Thousand Suns
For our Great City episode, Blammo buffs out as strength maxed warrior visiting the unique flavor of each of the wards.
Blammo’s Atomic Episodes: The Great City
Since KQ comes on the Array regularly we came up with an ongoing theme. Starting with our KQ 7 episode we pitted the ever scheming Jiro (KQ’s iconic kobold) against Blammo… setting traps ala Wile E. Coyote. We also used black and white as homage to Mad Magazine’s Spy vs. Spy series.

The KQ comic was too funny.
I always felt sorry for Mr. Coyote, though, and I kept pulling for him to finally catch that Roadrunner. Jiro didn't stand a chance either.

I'm really glad you guys dug the homage. I loved those Spy Vs Spy compilations and I also thought that a monochromatic approach might allow Hugo a much deserved break. ;) Didn't turn out that way though. Look at how much work he put into it.
Actually, monocromatic is more work since you have to choose the shades carefull so you find a nice contrast to it all, not just plain gray :P
