Old Fishery

Curse of the Crimson Throne

How are you supposed to move between the upper floor and the lower? The text has mentions things being lowered down multiple times but it also mentions Yagrin running to warn Gaerden. Does he climb a rope from are A8 to A12?

The Exchange

That is the only way that the thugs know to get down. The other way is via the secret door, but in terms of their set up that's the only way down.

Dark Archive

I believe the decking of the "understructure" is pretty close to the surface of the work floor. Not sure if it's pictured on the maps, but I put a small boat just under that opening in the work floor.

The party I GM used a rope to climb down to the lower floor, of course one of them had to fall in and get attacked by the jigsaw shark, quite amusing...

Well, if you have to climb down a rope to get to Gaedren, then Yagrin "fleeing to Gaedren's side" doesn't make a whole lot of sense - especially since Yagrin has no ranks in climb.

A minor, minor issue. I'll have him run out on the dock and start screaming for help.

The Climb DC for a knotted rope is DC 5 and you only actually fall on a 0. A lot of people get this wrong, believing that failing a climb check automatically leads to a fall. In fact, our party ended up with a TPK in Age of Worms because I wasn't there and the rest of the players missed this rule.

The Exchange

Sorry to necropost this, but I am just now hoping to run this adventure in a PBP (Play-by-Post) format, and I find the Old Fishery quite confusing.

Where do these two sections join?

I cannot figure-out where one rests atop the other.

Where are the entry points between the two? Are there TWO boats? I'm sorry of this should seem obvious, but it really doesn't to me.

Here is how the Fishery works (using the room numbers for navigation):

The important thing is you need to pretend that the lower floor (A13 and 14) don't EXACTLY line up with the upper floor (A4, A5, A6, and A7), but rather you need to kind of pretend they're offset a bit due to the ground sloping down towards the water under the upper floor.

A8 10 feet below A4/5/6/7, and A13 is 5 feet or so below that, level-wise.

There are not two boats. There is one boat, and what you see in the first map (A9 and 10) is the deck of the boat, while A11 is below-deck, the floor of which is about level with the water, and level with the plank walkway (A12) is also level with the water, so 5 feet below the floor of A8.

The only entry point to the walkway is via the boat, which is entered by going all the way around the walkway outside (A3) and entering from the deck. There is no way to A12 and the doorway to Gaedren from inside, save by jumping through that square hole in the floor in A8, into the water 5 feet below, and then climbing up onto the walkway.

I added a staircase just before the boat on the dock.
