Interesting. I haven't yet checked out any of the e-reader devices. I hear that some are awesome, and some are less than. ;P
If I were to collect 'art-sy' type books, I would defintiely continue to purchase those in phytsical form even if I were to become a whole-hearted e-format junkie.
(Not gonna happen, but a few years ago I swore I would never use anything but check or cash to buy stuff either. Now no one will take a check, but they have NO problem with the bank card that draws from the SAME ACCOUNT)
;P
Hm, I now recall that a couple of years ago, My little brother's Christmas gift to me was a thumb drive filled with comics. I downloaded an electronic comic-reader and BAM, hours of entertainment.
Not convenient, as I have to sit at my PC to read them, but he included many interesting titles I would most likely never have purchased on my own. I do enjoy the fact that I don't have to worry about bagging them, but I'm afraid of what happens if my PC crashes, do I lose them forever? Or does he still have access to his originals?
The world may never know,...

Most of my recent game purchases are in e-format. Several Paizo titles I've purchased in both forms, but I find myself using the e-format almost exclusively because I'm not where my physical books are very often when I need the information.
I have not made the leap to a dedicated e-reader device yet. The smartphone is as close as I might claim, and I won't be putting any of my game stuff on it since it's not really mine-mine, it's work-mine. So I do my e-reading on the laptop.

I'm TOTALLY with the addition of the PDF files with our purchase.
I probably have read as many of my adventure paths on PC as on paper, just because I never think to bring my adventure path with me to work for my breaks! :)
But again, I just feel like if I paid for ONLY a pdf, i feel like i'm paying for 'nothing' if I don't have something physical to hold.
;P
ANd, I just love sitting down with a book. One of my oldest, favoritist, mostest bestest things ever. :)

My 'kindle' is an app on my ipad, and I find it works for absolutely everything other than reading outside on a sunny day. And (again due the pain of shipping things across the pacific) pretty much all of my RPG purchases are PDF only.
Works great for books, not so well for the RPG stuff. I really miss the feel of leafing through a book, and I find that artwork isn't as impressive in PDF.
I agree there's nothing quite like sitting down with a new book from a favorite author. It's just ... marvelous.

Heh, As long as we can agree on this, I'll be happy to consider the benefits of electronic format. :)

Ebooks have their benefits, aye. But if freed from the constraints of money, time and space, my library of physical books would rival the Alexandrian in its epic scale and diversity.

Heathy, another Spelljammer link for you: Piazza Spelljammer forum
These cats usually have good stuff to peruse.

Also, this;

I am also pretty certain that I have Dungeon number 92. (or at least the Dragon that went with it. But I tended to buy the Dungeon that went with the Dragon I liked.) However FINDING it in my boxes of Dragons might take me a little bit,...
And sorry for the absence, I got sick on my OK vacate. I'm back now. At least Physically. Mentally might take longer.

I have received a gift horse and, rather than looking it in the mouth, I'm going to go for a ride. I will be far from home and computer for the next ten days or so. Please bot Emrael in my absence.
Talk to you soon!

Hey Pixie, I have a question that maybe you (or the all-powerful Heathy) might be able to answer.
On the following link/page
Magus Racial Favorite class alternates
I am a little confused by the ELF listing.
Does it mean I can only take it every 6 levels? (levels 6, 12 & 18)?
(Or would that be levels 1, 7, 13, 19? Possibly more realistic, and I'm guessing that was what they were aiming for.)
Surely I don't have to take it 6 times to get the bonus! THAT would be redonkulous! ;P
Obviously i cannot take it EVERY level, as that would give me a new magus arcana at every level, and THAT would also be redonkulous.
Little help in translating what is otherwise probably very clear and simple? :)
Thank you! :D

Sorry, your fears are correct. Six selections = one arcana.

The gift horse in question was a ticket to a Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Magic. We had several days at sea and stopped at Montego Bay (Jamaica), Georgetown (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands), and Cozumel (Mexico). We got to snorkel out to a shipwreck and hike to (and climb up!) a Mayan pyramid.
I know some of you are much more traveled than I am, so this might not sound like a big deal for you, but this was an absolutely amazing experience for someone that had never even been to the seashore. It's going to be very hard to return to reality...
AinvarG |
Well,...
That certainly sucks a little more than I hoped it would. ;PThanks for the help! :)
Yeah, it might seem harsh, but remember what you are comparing this choice to - an extra arcana is worth more than a hit point or skill point, for certain. Whether it's worth 6 hit points might be a point to argue, but I think that depends a lot on the arcana you select...
Ragadolf |
Very true.
Sad, but true! :)
It also makes sense since you get your first arcana normally about lvl 5, so the extra at 6th lvl is pretty good. (Still stinks that you get NO bonus hp or skill points for the first 5 lvls to get it though)
And I'm glad you had a great time!
I'm moderately traveled, and that sounds like a blast to me! :)
Now get back to reality with the rest of us poor slobs!
(Jealous? Who, me? Nooooo,...)
;)

It was just a game for school; I can't find any dice at home, so I was using Paizo's random number generator in lieu of dice.
Had to roll 2d6, the rolls representing the length and width of a rectangle, then compute the area, circumference, add them, rinse and repeat until somebody got to a total of 200.

I wanna kill some Tharks, and make some poached Thark eggs for breakfast.
Oz (the bookish version) would be cool. Nehwon, the world of Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser is also pretty darn cool. Earthsea from Ursula K LeGuin maybe(you'd have to import some cool sea monsters). Maybe a trip to Melnibone and the Young Kingdoms?

As a former math teacher, that's kind of cool means of getting them to practice. And it brings other possible conversations in - statistics and random numbers would be within easy reach if the teacher wanted to use it.
Did you win?

Now we finally know what Elgan is up to in his spare time.
OMGLOLROFLMAO!
That video, oh my gosh I haven't laughed that much in a while!
Thx, I needed that! :D
