New Pathfinder Adventure Path has arrived!

The weather is starting to turn bitterly cold on the Crown of the World, the setting for the latest chapter in the Jade Regent Adventure Path!

In "The Hungry Storm," the caravan journey begun in Varisia has reached its most perilous stretch yet: the arctic wastelands of the very top of the world of Golarion. The environmental hazards are challenging enough, but the smell of warm blood carried on the icy winds draw out predators such as the boreal yrthak and ice trolls, or maybe even the legendary Lonely Maiden. The PCs will encounter the nomadic Erutaki who live upon the ice, and enemies of the future empress of Minkai are eager to cause as much problems as possible... The Crown of the World is an excellent grave, after all, and many have perished in the crossing. Unnatural blizzards have come to the Crown, and as the PCs travel deeper into this unfamiliar realm of half-buried ruins, they only get worse, and they must stop the mastermind behind the storms if they wish to cross the Wall of Heaven into the continent of Tian Xia.

Besides the adventure, we have plenty of information for the game master on how to run adventures in polar regions, including tips on frostbite, how the long days and nights of arctic regions affect vision, as well new diseases and poisons. (Pro tip: Avoid ergia.) For players, be sure to get your snow goggles and cold weather gear, and study up on the geography of the region--this is no place to get lost.

Count Varian Jeggare and Radovan return in the third part of Dave Gross's tale, "Husks." In this tale, this duo descends into an entirely different sort of danger with their allies, seeking answers to the murders that are plaguing the city of Oda.

Finally, one of my favorite sections of the Adventure Path volumes: the bestiary! Those that succumb to the ice may rise again as the frostfallen, a new template with the unnerving ability to sense life around them, but there are two new creatures inspired by Inuit lore as well. The qallupilluk, hag-like creatures with the horrifying ability to transform those they touch, lurks near the shoreline, luring in the unwary with their pleasant scent. The saumen kar stride across the tundra, bearing ancient brands upon their snow-matted fur and able to control the ice they walk upon, and there is also a new oni, the double-headed atamahuta! Arcane casters resembling ettins with the spellstrike ability of a magus, but all the fury and power of a raging barbarian, this brutal oni will make your PCs question their tactics against it!

The monsters sound very intriguing this time around! Especially the atamahuta; I've gotten fond of the magus, and a monster that uses magus class abilities when it fights should be fascinating.

Though with all the Inuit monsters making their way into gaming of late, I still keep hoping that one day someone will write up the Amarok. Yeah, it's basically a giant supernatural wolf, but I'd enjoy seeing someone's take on it.

Monsters sound interesting but not as interesting as some from the last two jade regent APs. But I do like the sound of that new Oni though.
