DM, you mentioned marking off water. I've never done that before in my games.

Looking at the rules on Starvation and Thirst it looks like Medium Creatures need 1 gallon of water a day and Small Creatures need half a gallon a day.

It looks like medium waterskins hold half a gallon and small ones hold a pint.

Should we assume we used our entire waterskin on the walk over if we had no other source, since that is half a days worth of drink?

Sorry for the rules question, its just one I haven't dealt with before and I want to make sure I do it correctly.

Just raid Zords corpse... lol Or rather you should have :P i had rations and water :)

Yep Zord its offical. You should crack a book once in a while, it's good for you. Second hand knowledge of a book is like an empty pie pan when you really want pie. I on the other hand have a shelf full of video games, though probably a paltry sum in your eyes. I thik I have 30 or so, only three of which I have played until the end. Well over half I didn't even make it a quarter of the way. They always get so boring. I have even played Balders Gate 2 three times and never made it to the end.

Quayon hits the nail on the head, and I too am ashamed that I completely forgot about LOTR.

Zord I have some homework for you. First I need you to take some time over our holiday break, if your not too busy, and reread the combat section of the Core book. If you don't have the book, read the rules for combat over at d20pfsrd.com.

Starting gold is 150, 20 point buy. Post your character when you have it built.

OK np. And i end up messing up on rules a lot because i still haven't gotten all the 3.5 rules out of my head and reading the marvel rpg books about a million times doesn't help either. But i will look through combat section and also a few other basics. One big problem also is my irl games take out some rules because they find it complicated. (attacks of opportunity being a good example). But i realize some of my basics are lacking :)

To add on to that, simple fighter characters in other stories, many of the characters in the Lord of the Rings were "just" fighter types but they were far deeper (I am going to butcher some spelling here as I have only seen the movies as I found all the fluff in the beginning to much o overcome) Boramir was a great example, noble to say the least, but with a lot of depth that is seen towards the end of the first movie, Gimley a traditional dwarven warrior, if not THE traditional dwarven fighter. Also, look at Salvatore's books, Bruenor would be very simple, may be vanilla on paper but as the character is written you see that there is more to him. Hell, I think Athrogate is one of the most annoying characters I have ever read and he is meant to be, just a dual wielding fighter.

The mechanics do not make the character, if they did my Bard hear would be in a world of pain.

*sigh* i really feel ashamed when im out nerd-ed :c lol. My downfall is not reading enough i think. I am boss when it comes to video games and classical films. What im getting at is i have only seen the first lord of the rings all the way through and have not read the books :c. However i have heard the books drag on. That he will take five pages to describe a corpse hanging from a tree :P lol. So i barely know what your talking about but i do see what your getting at :)

It seems the rules are gone from recruitment. What twas the starting gold? i will start work on Alberus? the noble. Still working on a truly noble name. Just want to double check, everyone is cool with me rejoining the campaign under a different character? I will admit i feel like a b*tch doing this lol. I feel a bit like a cheat is what i mean :)

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

Ok. then its settled :). And i want him to follow laws :c lol. If im doing this im doing this right. Super honorable fighter. I just see the image of a human in armor and dragon is breathing fire at him and he is blocking it with his shield. But do you guys like the idea of tactician archetype? I think it gives hims some knowledge and other things that i would like. The more i am thinking of this the more i want to fulfill that (maybe vanilla) but the role of the really noble and honorable fighter.

Just because he is vanilla on paper doesn't mean he will be as played. That is up to you.

Play a monk if you'd like to do that but I'd hold off on the two bladed sword.

If you are more focused on learning, and the most customization then fighter is the way. you build it with feats.

Hmm... i could always pick a two bladed sword for my fighter and just give him wepaon finesse and raise his DEX to give him that nimble feel. But i think everyone will agree with the vanilla LN fighter. I will just make him have a lot of honor and such. Maybe a tactician archytype? I am thinking about bringing about more of a leader into the campaign as opposed to support character. I try to play support-ish cahracter in pbp because irl i always end up leadin our group. However i amd liking the idea of a fighter who can also carry on a conversation properly. Hence the tactician archetype. Also raise his perception and diplomacy up.

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

I will just build a noble LN fighter :P

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

And i can't help but also liking the monk with the two bladed sword :). I just want everyone to be happy with my character :P. I may just end up with a vanilla fighter. Shield, long sword etc.

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

Ok cool :). and those were the two feats i was thinking about as well :P

I agree on no dump stat. I personally try to play out low stats. A low wisdom leads me to play a character with poor decision making.

GM, I don't like you using the word dying in there.

*sigh* ok. Well you guys just tell me what character you want me to make and i will make it :P. I always try to add a little zing in there, i don't think i can do just a vanilla character lol. Too boring. Even if you guys just really want that i will have to add something to make him a little different, maybe personality wise.

interesting concept, bear in mind the size of the hammers will be a factor in your to hit roll, two war hammers will be like -4 to hit in each hand. Also, this will make it a 2 or 3 stat class, since I am guessing after the prior events you see that con is not a dump stat and personally I think all stats have merit and a putting a negative anywhere will have consequences. but for dual wielding, you need at least a 15 dex (unless I am mistaken) and being a dwarven fighter a strength of some sort will be greatly desired.

Yes i will tried too be more balance this time, also i intend on taking feats and anything i can to cut down on negatives to the attack rolls :P

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

Lots of debate here guys :p. Could i settle everyones needs with a dwarf that dual wields hammers? (fighter class)

Current party make up without the archer"

Druid
Cleric
Barbarian
Bard (trapdinder)

My opinion, Nuker type (unless we want to 100% rely on me, though I know clerics get some stuff later)

Rogue damage dealer (feel free to go two-weapon knife fighter (per the archetype) build to maximize sneak attacks and drop trapfinding)

Of course, this is just my thoughts, the character is completely up to you.

Nuker type? :P what be that?

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

GM:
Would you prefer me pm you as opposed to posting character ideas on here? Because if it doesn't bother you i would like to hear if everyone likes it :P (as long as it doesn't give too much of the character away because they will be meeting for the first time and i don't want them to know the character before they met)

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

what about a monk who uses a two bladed sword? (honestly having darth maul in mind when i think of this character). Maybe maneuver master as an archetype? I thought it would be cool seing a monk flying through the air with a two bladed sword. Thoughts anyone, everyone?

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

I said me and you going back and forth to choose a new character :P. Yeah sorry about that. And the ghost of zord was just something funny to do. Yeah man i have no issues :P

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

Although i will say that it will be a fighter just because i was a fighter and the party needs a fighter. But idk what kind yet. Dwarf with an affinity for large hammers? A human that prefers another sword as opposed to a shield? idk yet

Round 2: Makvor - HP 10/10

Makvor, seeing Zatqualmie vault back to his side of the fence, thinks, It's bad enough that I'm still over here, now I have to worry about him? Then he sees Zordlon launch himself over and get gored by the bull. Insanity...pure insanity. I told them to run, why are they coming back??

He screams to Zatqualmie, "What are you doing?? Get over that fence!", then does what he can for Zordlon and vaults the fence himself.

Makvor casts Stabilize on Zordlon, which should hold him at -8 until we can do something else for him, or at least take him back to town for the healer to deal with. Then, he moves and vaults the fence, hoping Zatqualmie can get over as well.

Thanks man :P. although i think i am done for :c

Makvor wrote:

Well, okay, so I thought the plan was to run. The entangle, at the very least, kept the bull from doing a charge attack, which was still somewhat helpful, at least in theory...

In the future, I'd recommend that if someone states an intent for the rest of the party (like screaming "RUN", for example), unless you have a better idea or it's really against your character's nature, best to just go with it - if that person dies, then it's their own fault.

So, yeah - I'm not planning on engaging something that can move faster than us and kill us all easily with a single attack (you'll notice that wasn't a critical hit, and still did more damage than any one of us have). Sorry, Zordlon - as much as it sucks having you dead, I'm not going to risk a TPK (total party kill) or my character's life to try to stabilize you.

I understand man, its cool. What was the changing event for Zordlon was seeing his little gnome friend jump over the fence. At that point He was in rescue/distract mode.

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

well not always. But in this situation it was. And also i didn't realize the bull was in that square honestly... But oh well.

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

Yeah i agree. But when i play an rpg: Logic < character personality. I always go with what my character would do as opposed to what would be the smart thing to do

I can't find your HP anywhere on your sheet -- what did you take as your level 1 favored class bonus?

Yeah i apparently didn't copy my hp over. And it wouldn't matter. with 9 hp(1d10 - 1(con) - 17 will still kill me.

Mrachni wrote:
How many HP did you have? With a HD of 10, and a -1 to CON, that puts you at 9 unless you took some feat or trait to up it... and 17 damage puts you at -8.

i guess im dead then. I have never confronted something at level 1 that can kill you in one hit :P

I am dead? 0_o oh well i suppose. I will wait to here for conformation. There better be a memorial for me is all im saying -_- lol

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

even though this seems bad, this is how this character is, he would gladly die to save those of his companions. He charged in (stupidly) but heroically, in an attempt to save his friends. I will wait to do anything until other people post :P

Edit: This is interesting. It will be interesting to see how this turns out

natural 20 -_- i soar over it with a spawned space shuttle ultimately crashes into the beast and killing it, after which we realize the bull was filled with delicious CANDY!!!!!!! i love natural 20s c:

erm... k

Liberty's Edge

so theoretically i could sprint for the fence and he couldnt get me? If it is how i think it is this will probably be my next action

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

We should try and get everyone together and play some for awhile over skype. I mean, continue to play pbp, but we could get a lot done, even in a small amount of time, over skype.

Liberty's Edge

Male Elf Fighter(archer)1

I would there be consequences for killing an npc that us attacking me? I'm not attacking it I'm trying to sneak around it. But if it attacks me I'm attacking back lol

Liberty's Edge

I was just trying to be funny, I could care less if we fight this bull or not

I mean if we do, hey XP, if we don't then we may be able to avoid any unnecessary injuries

Liberty's Edge
