Have I mentioned that my morning commute averages about 20 or so minutes? And my evening commute has been pretty solidly hovering around 30 minutes! At just shy of a mile less than my old Philly commute, that's already a BIG win!!!

To make matters worse Denver cut our forestry and fire fighting budget this year. Denver also had to work some $67 million into the budget this year IIRC to pay the victims of the fire they started last year near Denver.

My state is run by ass clowns.

Many sectors of Houston are hopping. I got an offer within 4 days of initiating a job search. I might have had 2, but I let the recruiter know I wasn't interested in the other job up front.

BTW, my headhunter was awesome. They only work with IT jobs, but if anyone in Houston wants to be hooked up with them, PM me. I contracted through them at the new job until I was hired in, and have no complaints whatsoever.

My younger brother keeps trying to lure the wife and I down with knowledge of various engineering-related jobs we could get.

I think all the FAWTLY folk who have not yet moved to Houston should do so. Then we can slowly migrate into the same neighborhood. Once the FAWTLY population reaches critical mass we take the place over and re-create it as Hobbiton.

Wife has a tentative job offer that may have us in Houston by next March, with moving expenses paid if it all works out. So we're keeping our fingers crossed.

If Houston does happen, it'll strengthen the chances that I'll have to find a way down that direction and raise hell.
