Male Human Cleric 1

This is the part that worried Kedan the most. The unknown. Not knowing if there was danger or just a fluffy bunny waiting around the corner.

He held his breath, waiting with his companions.

Kedan watched the rats warily. He knew that people often contracted illnesses after being bitten by one. He wondered if they had venom like a snake. Does everything deserve the right to live? Not if its existence threatens the well being of the races blessed with intelligence and the divine spark, he reasoned.

He shivered, then took his place at the back of the line.

Kedan looks about for a moment. He appears a bit dazed, but then takes his place behind the others. He knows that he can provide his friends the most support by remaining behind them.

Kedan was barely done wiping his mouth on his sleeve when he jumped out of the way of a handspringing bard. He mumbled something about "morning people," but those thoughts vanished from his mind when he looked up. A beautiful light descending.

"I have to see it," he murmured to his new friends. He looked around to make sure that the others were going, too. "I wish my other friends were here to see this," he told Gloisel as they headed up the hill. "I feel like something good is about to happen."

The ground made a better bed than Kedan had anticipated.

He immediately looked toward the lake, hoping to see his friends' camp from afar. The mist made it difficult, though.

His first concern addressed, he moved on to the second concern: breakfast!

Brother Kedan smiled nervously. "Well, then, I suppose that's decided. My friend, and the soldiers... I suppose they can take care of themselves."

"I do wish I'd brought my bedroll. But hardship is part of every spirit quest. It's all a part."

Kedan had a seat on the ground near the fire, removed his footwear, and rubbed his journey reddened feet. He laid down, head on his shoes, and listened as Mogue told his story.

"Father of luck and lies, I am thankful you made it through. That sounds absolutely harrowing."

Kedan looked at the two small flowers stitched into his garment. If the black dog had been a bad omen, this was certainly a good one. The musty smell of ten days on the road was gone, and he didn't miss it one bit.

Belly full, he thanked everyone sincerely and copiously. "I have companions back by the lake. I traveled with my good friend and mentor, and some soldiers from home. I need to let them know I'm okay. I appreciate the fine meal and fine company."

"I suppose I should probably rejoin my old friends now. It was a great pleasure meeting new ones."

Out of town until Sunday.

"I suppose I'm for hearing the prophecy sooner rather than later, too."

After a pause, he added, "Does there happen to be anything in the prophecy about a stone table? On a hill between a forest and a lake?"

"And an...umm...Elven Preeyatna to you, as well." Kedan's return of the gnome's greeting was more good intentions than accuracy. He helped himself to some of the hot food and seated himself near Gloisil and Petrovich. He nodded politely to the Goliath, but the look in his eyes betrayed the fact that he had never seen one before.

"This is a considerable sight better than what I was expecting to eat tonight."

"What are you all doing up here? We have a small expedition traveling through the area. You have probably seen our fires by the lake. We're looking for..." Kedan's voice trailed off, suddenly uncertain in his tone.

"Say, does anyone here have a big black dog? I just saw one before I came upon you all. A big fellow. He gave me the chills. They can be ill omens, I've heard. But if he belongs to one of you, I'm sure it isn't a bad sign at all."

Upon hearing the invitation from the cooking fire, Kedan stepped into the fire's light.

"Something smells delicious," the middle aged man added.

He is wearing the robes usually reserved for men who have taken holy orders; they appear almost new. An angry red scar, probably a serious burn, covers a large portion of his face; but his smile is warm nevertheless.

"Thank you for your kind invitation."

"I'm Kedan," he said to the others. "Brother Kedan now, I suppose, thought I'm having trouble remembering to say 'brother' after just being Kedan for so many years. You may call me either. Especially if you feed me." He laughed good naturedly and extended his hand in greeting.
