Agreed it was a lot of fun. I hate to give up on Bein but until we gain momentum its hard to focus on the game. :/

I would definitely game with all of you again and I learned a lot in my time playing with you all.

Well, let me know if this game starts up again, for now I am withdrawing due to new work issues and changes in schedule. None the less it has been a great time and I hope to play Bein again once all our RL situations calm down! :D

Its a little better now, downgraded from multiple breaks to just a shoulder fracture and lots of swelling. So far Ice is more useful then aspirin/ibuprofen but on the mend~ :D

Apologies,. Was injured at work and am recovering from a swinging load/pinned under heavy load and crushing incident. Luckily it wasn't a direct hit, but I have nine broken ribs and a fractured shoulder and rotor cuff.

Still able to post just one handed for now ha!

Yep still doing good. Working on Building an Iobaria campaign! Its tough but with what info I have I am fleshing out the rulers and pressing forward.

Its gonna be a very open play style, using Kingmaker in some of its aspects. However the party can play races across the spectrum just about.

Half-Giant (Being Built) Is a possibility.

Centaurs.

Goblinoids (Practically all types)

Good and Evil sided campaigns possible.

Lots of work though, focusing on the good guy side right now.

Still working on some builds for Danath's progression. Probably will delve into Two Handed Fighter for some damage dealing goodness! That way he isn't useless while dismounted/in a dungeon!

The only thing that I can really say to a new GM is like what has already been said above."

1) Take your time, learn the basics and move up from there.
1a) Sometimes creating houserules when You discover a potential conflict, can mitigate it before/when it happens.
1b) Don't be afraid to go to the Advice thread and ask questions. I've had to many, many times.
1c) Build a rapport with your players. It helps.

2)Expect your players to do the unexpected.
2a) Set up alternate routes in situations, they don't need to be extensive but they need to be there. Like combat changes, the morale text for NPC's in paizo adventures is a good resource to look at and start thinking. Will BBEG really fight to the death or does he have an escape route? That sort of thing.
2b) I find it easier for players to post the following info in...

I find it way easier as a quick reference in a fight, all the major things are there. You can use my character here as a reference.
2c) Some may disagree but posting the enemies basic AC and even HP can help limit confusion as well.

Granted this means a lot of trust needed between you and the party but it saves the group from having to redo posts because they did 55 dmg to a 19 hp creature.

It also allows them to write the story for you some and limit having to Recap the round of combat every time.

2d)Having a standard posting style is good for players too.

Current Effects: Active Resistances, Haste (10/10 rounds left), -2 to Dex based skills, Etc.

3) If using an adventure path.
3a) Stick to the path as written until you get good enough with making Alternative routes that make sense to spice it up.

4) Homebrew settings.
4a) Start small and build up. It becomes overwhelming when you try to build the universe and the world and the continents and everything that lives there all at once. Build around a central place, village, woods, whatever. As the players progress through the beginning, decide how the world takes shape. Is the starting place in a valley? On an island? W/ an (in)active Volcano? :O

5) Party Size. Pick what you are comfortable with. Normally I use five players. I have done up to 14 and its a mess... 5 leaves wiggle room and allows for the possibility that RL overwhelms one of your players. Minimizing the downtime the group suffers.
5A) A four person party is optimal, just have some NPC's on standby to step in if someone leaves. Then you can recruit and keep moving forward~

6) Races: I suggest you go through the races and select some that won't conflict to badly. Make a standard list and stick too it. Sometimes allowing things like ARG can make some terribly powerful stuff.

Bein nods in agreement. Sickness hadn't been something he considered. However he wasnt going to be convinced until he was sure this wasb over.

Patrol the bridge, check the den and protect the streets. Every guard moves in pairs, each has a horn to call for help. They couldn't make a mistake. No one else was going to die. Not under his vigil.

Bein nods at Finnabar. "Also of note was the description of the pigs that were slaughtered. They were 'brutally' slaughtered, which doesn't sound like normal predator behavior. If there is a male I will endeavor to bring it down Milord, once it is found I will see it added to the menagerie per the Teachers instructions. As for why they left the bodies I too thought it was strange."

He pauses for a moment clearly embarrassed by the coming morbidness of his suggestions. " Which leads to what was discussed earlier, I volunteered to view the bodies in case there were other clues that were missed. Jack and Xarafine offered to come along as well. I hope the pigs aren't disposed of yet either as I wish to see it first hand... Will you join us as well Milord?"

Remembering his new rotation he added. "Also until this danger is past I will work at night with the guard to protect the streets and the outlying areas where possible."

"I believe an early curfew is in order and those wandering at night not go alone. I wish to have your approval so it can be announced before nightfall today sir. Lest we have another body on our hands. But I dont wish to cause a panic either..." Bein didnt hide his unease, despite capturing the female and her pup he was certain the danger wasnt past them yet. The entirety time he spoke he kept his hand on his sword hilt.

Glad your okay! Sorta, ^.^;. Glad you are on the mend, Hymen had some hospital stuff happen and hasn't been back in a week or so, but I am sure he will return sometime soonish~

Bein is going to patrol on nights for as long as it takes to ensure the danger is passed. Putting the nightly patrols on high alert and armed with horns (probably already are) (Characters involved: Bein only so far)

Bein will start his patrols at the new bridge where the people were killed recently.

Beins first night will likely leave him fatigue part way through the night. But he will make good on his word, night patrols either with soldiers or alone. He has too much confidence that Arundel and him can handle whatever comes at them. But honestly I hope its over. Never got this far in Kingmaker yet and since it is a home-brew I am really looking forward scared of what are brilliant GM can come up with. :3

Bein pulls off the helm and grimaces as the clarity is robbed from him temporarily, he was coming to rely on the magical helm more then he liked to admit.

He nods to the Teachers suggestion. "It was your wisdom why I didn't put the large dame down Milady. If this studying doesn't harm them then I see no harm in giving them a sort of protection in Stagwatch. However such past times are beyond my grasp and I will leave it to my betters to decide on one condition. If they are to be put to death then I will relocate them personally as I didn't shed my blood only to see them die anyway... We also need to make sure she is the real culprit and not just a happy coincidence."

He looks to Jack then. "Not intending insult to you my friend but we don't know if she just happened by the remains and did what came natural. I'll leave nothing to chance and unless you have a better idea I will institute a curfew in the waning hours. Best people are in there homes and let the soldiers and myself do the fighting. Is there any problems with this comrades?" He intended to accompany the patrols for the next few nights to ensure that if she wasn't the culprit then the real one would fall beneath the Staglords blade.

Unless we get sidetracked Bein will do the following once things are concluded with the discussion here, thought I would let you be prepared. ;) He also will share what he plans to do with the group.:
Visited the farm and see what became of the pigs corpses, he wants to see how they were torn up. especially as it was deemed Brutal which seems uncharacteristic of an animal attack.
Bein is going to want to view the bodies if they are not buried yet.
He will spend his first few patrol nights around the New Bridge. The first night he will do it alone save for his Horse Arundel.

For those reading this as a player I felt this was too easy and I can't help but feel that way with Bein as well. However I will be more then happy to be wrong it just feels like something is off... DARN YOU HYMEN FOR BEING SNEAKY. Possibly. BUT YEAH! xD

Bein nods and pulls his sword from the ground without protest, he straps it back across his backside before turning to the heavier task. He helps drag the large dam back over to the cave entrance then and leaves his rations with jack as a way to keep the pup busy. After everything appears settled he turns to begin returning to the horses. He speaks aloud then, more to himself then anyone else, he couldn't help but feel ill at ease for some reason. "I hope this is where it ends my friend..."

Once he reached the horses he urged Arundel into a swift gallop, not wanting Jack to remain out there alone for too long. When he reached town he was surprised to find Xarafine with the girls at the stable. He dismounted quickly and approached her first. Blood streaked his armor where the beast had bit him. Unable to hide his worry completely as he spoke quickly. "Teacher, we found what we believed to be the creature attacking the citizens and brought it down alive. It's bound and under Jacks watchful eye along with its pup. I plan to return with a cage and some men to secure it while possibly moving it further away from the town later when we have time. I thought you should know Milady." He then shares his plan with her before trying to make it happen. He didn't want Jack up there alone for too long...

Bein plans on two things of course. 1. Getting a cage, preferably on a wagon for ease of transport. 2. Some men, guards preferably. 3. Herbs to make the animals drowsy, will pay whatever it takes so long as its from someone reputable.

He tests the bonds on the mothers mouth and legs ensuring they would possibly hold the big dame as he spoke aloud. "We can use herbs to keep them under when its time to move them and do the same when we release them. Safer that way."

Bein gives a heavy sigh before he lifts his greatblade off his shoulder and spins it point down, leaving it hovering above the unconscious dam's side. He aims to kill her in one stroke as he looks to Jack for confirmation first. "She still lives Jack, hence why I have tied her up... If she is the one hunting people then we end this here and now, yes? If the cub has learned to kill humans then it dies as well, shouldn't it?" He was trying not to sound cold hearted, he'd taken the hard route to follow one of the Teachers belief's and now regretted what he would have to possibly do next. Bein knew some domestic animals could be saved death through being trained but wild ones would do as nature demand, survive. It was the sad truth that he faced.
