Quick Q

Tanglefoot bomb, says DC to avoid is your std bomb DC, however doesn't say antyhing about the glued DC to break free.

is it just a flat DC17 always to break free with a Strength Check or is the DC your normal bomb DC too ?

bump for 0 post from yesterday

still looking for an answer if anyone knows

thanks

It's a class feature so it would follow the same DC as the normal bomb DC.

That could result in some pretty high Break DC's I just finished putting together a MindChemist with a potenital max INT of 38 which is a +14 mod

So would result in a DC34 Strength check to break meaning a Tarrasque hit by a Tanglefoot bomb from this lv20 alch would need to roll a 19 or 20 to break free even with their 41 STR

It also doesn't address the issue of do the number of hit points of the glue change ? since its also a flat 15HP to cut through.

the Bomb and Discovery features only increase the DC based on the Alchemist level. So although DC 34 is nothing to scoff at even at level 20, the said Tarrasque can happily chew the tanglefoot bomb to escape- making the Tanglefoot Bomb a suboptimal choice at higher levels.

Tanglefoot Bomb (Su): A creature that takes a direct hit from a tanglefoot bomb must save against the bomb’s DC or be entangled and glued to the floor as if it had failed its save against a tanglefoot bag. Creatures in the splash area that fail their saves are entangled but not glued to the floor; those who make this save are not entangled at all. Source: Ultimate Magic

Since it says if you fail your save, you are entangled and glued to the floor as if you failed to save against a tanglefoot bag, I would say the effect would be the same as a tanglefoot bag. DC 17 strength check, or 15 points of damage.

I'm inclined to agree but it dose make it a suboptimal choice long term

Ugh, I hope this isn't the case; my bounty hunter alchemist relies on the tanglefoot bomb *alot*, and it would be a shame to have to stop using it.
