Where to set Kingmaker in Greyhawk?

Kingmaker

I would like to run the Kingmaker AP in the Greyhawk campaign setting. Does anybody have any suggestions on where to set it?

Bone March coming from Ratik jumps to mind. Wild Coast at any time also would work. After the Greyhawk Wars the Sheldomar area looks good. All of these but the Wild Coast would involve much more army level combat than Kingmaker.

I think the Prelacy of Almor would be perfect, actually. It used to be a nation unto itself but collapsed during the Greyhawk Wars. That is a land ripe for re-establishing, in my opinion.

Shoot, why not the Bandit Kingdoms?

Brevoy might be the Shield Lands, if you want to recast those guys as being a bit more fractious. In that case, you'd basically flip the Kingmaker map upside down. The Nyr Dyv in the south would stand in for the Lake of Mists and Veils to the north. The remnants of the Horned Society could be overrun by Wolf Nomads and Rovers of the Barrens as stand-ins for Numeria and the Iobarian steppes. The other Bandit Kingdoms would be Pitax, Mivon, and the rest of the River Kingdoms.

It could work!

I like the Almor idea, also, border areas of Nyrond would work. It is also possible to use a portion of the map previously unseen. Further south (like a colony on a new continent) or further east past the Sea of Dust. Still, if you want to use all the banditry to the hilt them maybe using a contended section of the Bandit Kingdoms near Ulek or even parts of Tenh.

Since the River Kingdoms was most directly inspired by Greyhawk's Bandit Kingdoms... that's my vote! :-)

I'm mulling this over myself in another thread. If I were to convert it to Greyhawk, I'd say the Bandit Kingdoms too. Thematically, they function the same between the two settings. As to a specific location, I think placing the action (and soon to be built new kingdom) between the Artonsamay River and Rift Canyon could work, with the Tangles replacing the Narlmarches.

What about having Urnst or Nyrond sending the players to stablize Tenh. You'll have to adapt a bit the adventures, but you got interesting protagonist with Pale, Iuz, Bandit Kingdoms, Stonefist...

Hm... I think the only way that could get more authoritative is if Erik himself weighed in :-)

I'd agree, with the initial tract probably located in the eastern area of the BK, between the Rift Canyon and the Nutherwood/Phostwood.

Other locations that would work, IMO, include the area SW of Nyrond, including the Gnatmarsh and portions of the Celadon Forest (perhaps the Kingdom wishes a buffer between it and the possible expansionism of Rary from the Bright Lands?); the Burneal Forest and Cold Marshes in the region of Blackmoor (who wouldn't want a buffer against Iuz?); or perhaps even the Lords of Greyhawk, dispatching you to claim back the lands of the Wild Coast, into the Gnarley and Welkwood?
