My group pointed this out to me the last gaming session. To take a Hell Knight Prestige Class you need +5 BAB, Heavy Armor Proficiency and be proficient in all martial weapons.
Not a problem really till we noticed a that the Leader of the Hell Knight Order of the Chain leader is an 11 level wizard and 2nd level Hell Knight which by the rules is impossible since wizards can't be proficient in all martial weapons. Again with Order of the Rack you have a Sorcerer 8 Hell knight 1. The issue show s up again with Order of the scourge with a Cleric 7 and Hell Knight 2.
So 3 of the orders have leaders who technically don't qualify to be Hell Knights but are. So is there a mistake in the requirements where it should proficient with a martial weapon vs proficient with all martial weapons?

That'll happen when we foolishly list an NPC's level before we know how said NPC can qualify for its classes. And it's a BIG reason why we've shied away from giving a lot of NPCs in our core books levels (such as the queen of Cheliax).
Of course, here that's more of a just-plain editorial problem, I suspect, since we DID have the prerequisites for the prestige class. The solution is simple, but not one keepers of canon will like. The classes will need to change. The leader of the Order of the Chain needs to replace enough wizard levels that she'll qualify.

Would it not be better to simply say proficiency in a martial weapon? as a prerequisite or proficient with the orders weapon?
