Exemplar of Taldan Superiority,
I am thrilled to hear the Society is sending so many of you to distant Varisia, for there is vast potential for our great empire in this largely untamed land. While the Armies of Exploration never reached the Varisian Gulf and the people of Varisia never knew life under the protection of the empire, they also hold no grudges against us as many nations nearer our homeland do, the results of conflicts and misunderstandings now generations past.
The people of Varisia are practically crying out for Taldor’s guidance. After all, perhaps the greatest quality of our culture and the one most emulated by those we once ruled is our nobility. And in the burgeoning cities of Varisia, the citizens are ever reaching to recreate that which only we can give. Korvosa has been ostracized by Cheliax—its motherland—just as Cheliax turned its back on us so many centuries ago. Despite being cut off from the greater nation, however, the Korvosan people have established their own rudimentary form of nobility, an aristocracy that wants so badly to be part of something larger than a single city on a frontier populated by barbarians and vagabonds. We can give them this structure and sense of belonging!
And in Magnimar, a city founded by dissidents who wanted to break free from the “tyranny” of Korvosa’s aristocracy, the merchants and politically influential families who run the city are slowly forming their own nobility in all but name. All they need is an example of what their lives could be, and they will soon adopt the titles of true nobles and know what it means to be Taldan.
For that’s what we can do by fostering these fledgling aristocracies. We can expand Taldor in a way that hasn’t been accomplished in millennia. The world is too populous now for armies to march forth into the wilderness and tame them. But in the Varisian frontier, the taming has already been done by both Magnimar and Korvosa, and like little mice on the edge of the jungle, they will crawl under our lion’s paw for protection. Taldor’s future and our return to glory will come in Varisia, and you can be the catalyst for this revival! Show the mighty and influential of Varisia Taldor’s puissance, and teach them that with us, they too can rule.
For the glory of the Empire,
Lady Gloriana Morilla

Should the Decemvirate require my services in the future, know that Baronet Hernando Ruiz, Taldan Knight of Shield shall proudly bear the banner in glory of the Crown and my Baron. I shall give my all in the act of bolstering our already grand machinations that I am sure are already in play and beyond the scope of my understanding.

If Taldor was a flower, it would be a rose,
it's beauty admired by all.
If it were a beast, it would be a lion,
the embodiment of courage and pride.
If it were an emotion, it would be passion,
no feeling so potent or compelling.
But a rose has thorns,
and a lion has claws,
and passion can be savage.
Rise men and women of Taldor - your time is now!
For the glory of the Empire
Viscount Ottavio Emilior

Work work, that’s all Taldor ever gives poor Krunch. So not fair… when all Krunch want to do is smash and make friends. And get more shrunken heads for nice necklace. Sigh.
Maybe Krunch should get title, so Krunch can be like Mr Fancy Pants Dalsine and order friends to get stuff for parties. Where Dalsine? Krunch no hear from Fancy Pants… which is kind of nice.
Krunch be nice dipomat for Taldor. Krunch not best at talkie-talkie, but Krunch show them Taldor powerful and if you mess with Taldor, Krunch chop off your arms! And ears too if you elfie. Krunch hates elfies. Shhhh, you no tell anyone! Krunch like Pathfinders, hardly any cute Elfies to love, but too many Stunties (dwarves).
Well, Krunch say enough already, hopefully Krunch make it into Lion Guard soon. Krunch real sneaky so Krunch fit in nice. No one ever know what Krunch thinking. Yay Krunch!

Dear Lady Morilla,
I must admit that I admire your cleverness. The surest way for Varisia to align itself with the Empire is to ensure that their most influential citizens to want to be a part of it. As a matter of fact, there is one particular piece of Taldan culture which is ripe for export. The 17th of Arodus marks the premiere of The Fangs of Ambition, an epic for the stage which deals with the tragic tale of Queen Ileosa Arabasti of Korvosa.
The work could be very well-translated to fit a Varisian audience, and I suspect that the premise of a Taldan epic which deals with their home would be quite a hit, and it would also give us an opportunity to showcase our own aristocratic culture though the presentation itself.
To maximize the chances of success, I must ask a favor of you. If you could spread word of the premiere, and perhaps encourage favorable reviews, it would go a long way toward building Varisian anticipation of a production in Magnimar, or even a Korvosan one. I appreciate the assistance, and I hope to see the work's translation underway within the month. The more-renowned the premiere, the better. As I anticipate your attendance at the House of the Immortal Son on the 17th, I have taken the liberty of reserving a box for you and your party. Just give the staff your name and they will show you in.
For the Empire,
Lady Gabrielle d'Apcher

Krunch? Thinking?
Yeah, and no one ever knows what Sazzle's singing. 'CAUSE I CAN'T SING!!And I don't like elfies either. And they don't much like me. Elfs don't like me 'cause I'm half human and humans don't like me 'cause I'm half elf. Others just don't like me.

Really? I find certain, attributes of my half elven heritage makes me more desirable to humans. Then again, I've never had to interact with any elves besides my mother.

Maybe I just pretend that they don't like me because it helps me be angry. I fight better when I get angry.

Why, oh, why did I enable that joke?

I take it anger makes you clench your cheeks?
I much perfer the fighting to be about 10 feet away. she gestures to the whip on her hip. Much easier to work at range.

The speech is nice and all, madam, but why don't you just nod your head towards the people you want beat up, and I'll get that done for you. Now these... ari... aristo.... arocatal kinda things just are just too darn fancy for my Ulfen blood. I mean, I don't think I get what you're asking here... do you want me to knock the living daylights out of someone in Magnimar, or Korvosa? If you want me to knock one out in both, that's fine too, I like to travel. And if you want me to smack down an entire town or two? Even I might need backup for that, Gorum forgive me.

I am as curious to see Varisia as I have been in the past to see whatever far-flung part of Golarion that the Pathfinder Society has seen fit to send me.
I will of course keep the interests of the mighty Taldan nation at the forefront of all of my actions. Through our deeds, the oppressed peoples of fair Varisia, long denied the fruits of justice, will come soon see the benefit of becoming part of a renewed and noble Taldan empire.
Lady Gloriana, your will be done.

No one has ever mentioned it, my lady. And I shall not ask.

Building an Aristocracy would require settling down, collecting taxes, protecting the common people, making civic improvements, and eventually getting married and having children. Is there room for a halfling settlement among the good folk of Varisia? Do the Vsrisians even want to be a part of the Empire?
I am an entertainer. I enjoy travel. I enjoy my dalliances with certain Gnomish bards. If I could find just the right husband, I would consider settling down and planting roots someplace. The way I can play a Lyre of Building would certainly be of great use to a community.

My Lady Gloriana we've never been in synch before....tis oddly pleasent.
I do so love Varisia. Well all I've seen is Riddleport...like a second home to me. And the temple of Callistira, there is no finer estbalishment to raise a Paladin. The look on his face was well worth the small fortune expended to return him to life.
Oh yes Varisia, mmm mmm I can almast smell it now. *cough* *cough* hard to take it all in at once. I'll need a boat, and food, and a new set of "special" dice. A few pointy disposables... Some extra parchment, never know when you need a quick letter of marque. Some seed coins to start the games... My favorite scarf, it gets cold sometimes. A few vials of oil. A few vials of alchemists fire... Oh a smokestick, always fun at parties.
Hmm maybe a spare valet to carry the extra shoes. Its often muddy there. So much to do, so much to do.

GREETINGS FROM AN ANDORAN PATRIOT. How unfortunate that the Taldan empire, along with its self styled aristocracy, is slowly sinking beneath the rising tide of freedom. Your old ways rot, and free men rise up to overthrow despots. Your ways are the ways of the past- history will be written by free men, not slaves.
Lady Gabrielle d'Apcher |
Greetings, "Patriot."
This "rising tide of freedom" you refer to, could you inform us as to what it is, exactly? Is it like our northern neighbor Galt, whose guillotines have beheaded so many undeserving victims that they might as well be the finest followers of the gods of slaughter? Or is it like your People's Council, the very one which harbored a slaver until just over a year ago?
And what about Cheliax to your west? Will your "free men" be able to repel the waxing influence of House Thrune, or will your armies crumble for lack of a chain of command? Deny it if you wish, but they are coming for you, and if you wish to survive, you will need the practiced hands of the Empire.
But I digress. Your nation is young and passionate, like an adolescent having tasted the first drops of love. In time, you will grow, you will mature, your social structure will form itself, your pyramid of wealth and influence will settle as it does in every single nation, and in two centuries, maybe three...
Your nation will look just like ours.
Sincerely,
Lady Gabrielle d'Apcher

*benrill nods and listens to Gloriana and nods* "I agree with your Lady we should find new ways to further the reach of our emperor" as he brings in his penguin Frobisher which slides on his belly to the main room as he is wearing his nicest bow tie " my lady, i hope you will think of the world which we live in as magical as your self" " i feel maybe, we should make allies of some of factions we deem worthy of the honor i have a feeling trouble is coming in the mist and we should prepare for the worst"
