Weapon Focus and Natural Attacks

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

If I take the Weapon Focus feat could I choose natural attacks as a weapon type or does it have to be specified as claw or bite ect.?

Reason why I am asking is I would like to take Weapon Focus and have it be usable while I am wild shaped into something as a druid. What would be the best way to do this?

Thanks for the advice, answers

My understanding is it has to be bite or claw or something of the like. Weapon focus natural attack would be akin to weapon focus swords which isnt allowed.

In terms of wild shapping. Look at the forms you might wild shape into. See which are your favorites. Use that to pick which attack to use. My personal preference is for claw, since most animals have a claw attack. But if you like (either for flavor or mechanical reasons) animals that have bite as their main attack use that instead.

While this has already been answered (correctly, as far as I can tell), I just thought I would put in my own two coppers and say that Weapon Focus (Claw) usually has twice the bang for the buck as Weapon Focus (Bite) since most creatures that have a bite attack only have a single bite attack while those with claws usually get a pair of claw attacks.

Also, if you plan to be a wildshaping, claw/bite attacking druid, I highly recommend checking out Treantmonk's Guide. It is well worth the read, especially if you are moving to Pathfinder from DnD 3.5 and haven't fully adjusted to Paizo's take on how druids should work.
