Traits in Season 1

Pathfinder Society

Liberty's Edge

I have a question regarding traits in Season 1. All traits in the Character Traits PDF are allowed, right? Why, exactly, would anyone NOT take Rich Parents?

I'm just trying to figure out how that trait balances with gameplay. I'm converting my season 0 character, and I'm taking Rich Parents, so I have 1250gp (500 after 1 session+750 EXTRA starting gold), since I only played 1 scenario with my guy, right? I know I can't buy a piece of magic armor, but I can certainly have a couple masterwork items...

Someone, ANYONE, please let me know if this trait is disallowed...'cause I don't want to cheat.

If you take a look at Chapter 13 of the Player's Guide, you'll see:

Pathfinder Character Traits Web EnhancementAvailable at paizo.com/traits; all traits in this document are allowed except for the following: Adopted, Focused Mind, Hedge Magician, Magical Knack, Natural-Born Leader, Rich Parents, and Sacred Touch; Feat: Additional Traits

So, it's not allowed in Pathfinder Society play.

Rich Parents is one of the few traits from that document which is not allowed in PFS play. Most of the other traits from the traits enhancement and other sourcebooks are available, though, and all the exceptions are listed in chapter 13 (pg. 27-29) of the v2.0 Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play.

Must have missed that when I read through the Guide. Thanks, Chris!

(nods) I missed it, too. As a matter of fact, it was yoda8myhead who pointed out to me that the list of acceptable traits was more complicated than I'd presumed..

Can I choose the same level 1 spell (say Chill Touch) for the Precocious Spellcaster trait (Regional trait from Taldor) and the Gifted Adept trait (Basic-Magic trait), thus casting it at caster level +2 ?

Nope; trait bonuses don't stack.

Understood (and thanks for the quick answer BTW), but neither traits' description mentions a trait bonus.

The trait is balanced because the others have long term worth while rich parents does not. Sure it will kick ass for the first few levels, but after that things start costing a lot more and the gain becomes more negligible. Personally I would not be inclined to take it.

Rich Parents is not allowed on Pathfinder Society. This is noted in the final table in the Guide to Pathfinder Society Organized Play.

2017, rich parents trait still not allowed for PFS play?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yep. Anything that unbalances wealth is not allowed.

Besides, the trait sucks. By the time you're fourth level, the extra money is not that exciting. Far better to get a class skill or some other cool trait bonus.

Hmm

Oh, which country? I hope your launch goes well!
