LOL, You guys couldn't have spread the attacks around any worse. currently there is 1 gargoyle with 1hp remaining, another with 2 hp remaining and a third with 14hp remaining. The last has barely been touched though.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

As Maelchar blocks the gargoyles attack he smashes into it with his hammer partially caving the chest in but not enough to put the creature down for good. You still get this rounds action Maelchar just don't forget. Another hit like that and it will be down.

Garith swings with his sword but clearly the toll of the fight is causing him some fatigue as neither attacks hit the gargoyle in front of him.

Zeriax fires 3 arrows at the gargoyle targeting Garith but only 2 of them manage to hit the resilient pest. It remains standing but there are cracks all through its stony skin as blood pours out.

Reiko hits her lone assailant again with Radiance but can't seem to find the sweet spot to put it down. Both wings are clipped and the horns are smashed but it is still up and ready to strike back.

Maelchar, Nasira and Pakak up still.

I'm hopeful that Pakak just finished off two of them. Are P2 and P3 still upright? If both are, which one looks the worse for wear? That's who Nasira will target.

Nasira glances at her allies and decides that they all appear to be in relatively good health. She will concentrate on being a threat to divide the monsters' attention, then. Sometimes, it's not how hard you hit or how often, just that you may. She does not move, maintaining a presence in front of the mage.

Attacking defensively, +1 scimitar: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 4 = 16
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

As you noted, her AC remains 25 thanks to Pakak's ward.

Maelchar continues to whittle down the gargoyle threatening him. As like Reiko and Garith before him the gargoyle is left standing with barely breathe left in his stony skin. I mentioned there is one gargoyle with 14 hp and you hit it for 13, nice.

Luckily Pakak takes advantage of the damage everyone else was doing and targets three of the gargoyles before him with mythical blasts of force from his hand. Two of the bolts slam into the gargoyels causing them to collapse in heaps while the third bolt its the gargoyle on Nasira.

Nasira continues her defensive posture yet still manages to hit the gargoyle keeping its attention on her.

BAH!

A little bit of ad lib here with the pbp group init format, hope it works ok for you all...

Reiko bides her time waiting for the opportunity to get a flank on her opponent. As she is waiting Garith steps up and delivers the final blow to her gargoyle with his second swing ending that threat. Freed from her position she leaps across the way to engage in the last gargoyle. As she moves forward a pair of arrows comes whistling over head from Zeriax trying to add to the destruction of their foes. The arrows go wide and sail down into the valley. the effect was enough though as with Nasira present to engage the gargoyle its attention was elsewhere. Coming from behind as she was the gargoyle never noticed her until Radiance jutted through its chest. Twisting the blade to free it, the last gargoyle perished.

Although the group was taken by surprise and ambushed they were victorious once again. Bloody but not beaten they can only wonder what else might be in the ruin of a chapel. Hopefully Aron's history proved correct and there is a cache of healing potions to be found secreted away.

Congrats all, you just went through your first real combat using mythic points in this pbp anyways. Definitely some nice abilities there that you used. The interesting thing to find out is should you have spent them now or saved them for later...

He nods at Reiko's plan, and follows close on her heels, bow at the ready.

As you search through the stables you find that most of the stuff in here has long ago been destroyed. There is the broken pile of weapons that you sort through in the hopes that something of value can be found. The mound of weapons are leftovers from victims snatched up by the gargoyles. Most of the weapons are broken beyond repair, but a few still remain serviceable, including a magical katana, three cold iron daggers, and a +1 cold iron longspear.

To the east end of the building a broken section of the wall lets in the waning light of day. The treacherous footing makes it quite obvious that this is a pathway that should not be attempted when the outside is clear and easily traversed.

Now lets see Radiance on the hands of a Paladin = We WIN? Though Reiko was causing enough havoc as it is :D

Satisfied that his companions seem better armed to brave the dangers ahead, Zeriax takes a first approach to the main building, observing it from a distance, and trying to spot any movement.

Garith graciously accepts the sword as it behind to glow once again in his hands. He takes a moment to adjust his weapons, sheathing the radiance at his hip and Irabeth's blade at his back for easy access.

"Perhaps Pakak can use the longspear from the second rank when he doesn't feel it necessary to use a spell?"

Any plans for the cold iron daggers? Does everyone have cold iron weapons available?

We tend to play fast and loose with the items when they are discovered and then sort it all out when we are 'safe' (relatively speaking). So feel free to grab a CI dagger. With three of them, I can't imagine anyone would object.

Can anyone try to ID the katana, or shall I find out it is a cursed backbiter at the start of the next combat? XD I've done that once, it made for an interesting shift in the tactical situation.

I suspect Pakak is stronger at this particular skill...

The cleric holds out her hands to Reiko. "May I examine your new blade?"

Reiko hands over the blade, curious at the strange capabilities of magic wielders.

Seeing the query in the samurai's eyes, Nasira tries to explain. "When I was first taking my lessons, there were others that could almost feel the nature of the dweomer in a sword. Any magic at all, of course, is precious and it can be difficult to enchant anything, so most weapons have a relatively minor enchantment, but some have quite a bit more."

She sinks into a seated position and examines the sword as she continues, "I once held a weapon that was supposed to be that of one of Sarenrae's holiest paladins. Just holding it, I could feel a tingle. My instructors told me that was the goddess' touch. I don't know, maybe it was." She frowns, "Let me try again. It's like experiencing the bazaar. There are sights, sounds, smells, even tastes and touches. The combination of these tells you something about the stalls you are near and possibly the quality of their wares. This is similar - I open my mind to the sensations of the sword and compare them to those I have sensed before. It's not a science, though, and I have certainly misunderstood or overlooked a clue before."

She takes her eyes off the sword and looks up at Reiko. "Does that make sense?"

"I'd have no ability with a long spear, better to use weapons I know, which are admittedly few," Pakak says, and looks over at the blade too while Nasira handles it.
