Hug is sullen but goes to filling buckets with water in case of fire. He takes a moment to offer a soft prayer.

"Besmara give us your blessing."

Hug tosses a gold coin overboard as tribute.

Marius shakes his head at the waste of gold, but keeps silently working at his station.

The order's ship slowly gains on you throughout the day, at the rate she is closing you will be run down sometime in the morning. As night falls the captain holds a meeting.

"We have two choices, option 1 we try to lose them in a series of small islands to the west during the night, or option 2 we stop running at dawn and let them board and question us. Each has its risks, the order might decide we are pirates without prof or we could hit a shoal not marked on our charts and sink."

Let them board. Running into barely charted waters at night is foolish and is likely to get us trapped within sight of them.An they might view us less favorably if we tried to run like that. We should come up with terms for their boarding though. No weapons and they need to be escorted by crew and limits on how many of them onboard at once.
That sort of thing.

Having agreed that you should let the order board your ship, at dawn anchor is dropped. The sail of the Order of the Sun vessel grows larger for an hour or so before it becomes clear that is a galley and maneuvering to place itself along your starboard side. The vessel is much lower to the water than yours, about 15 feet longer and a few feet narrower, the back quarter or so has a level above that of the rest of the galley. It has 1 very large bow cannon, several large cannons on each side and on the raised portion a pair of what appear to be large, gear operated crossbows look to have a magazine of some kind. an appropriate profession or knowledge check could provide more information

As you get close to vocal range a voice hails you from the galley using some kind of hailed that is enchanted to increase the volume of speach.

"My Name is Knight Commander Mortakek, commander of the Radiant Spear . I and 4 of my knights will board your vessel and inspect it for signs of smuggling or piracy. Resistance will be met with appropriate force."

The ship is holding a position within earshot to your aft and starboard.

Mouse just sits on some stairs, making herself small and watching the proceedings with suspicious interest. She tries to determine if perhaps the Order of the Sun is up to something sneaky or sinister.

Mouse has a -1 modifier to Cha; also, in-character she wouldn't be bold enough (yet) to speak up to a Knight Commander, so she'll stay quiet and let the other crew PCs Aid Another on Ulark's good roll if they'd like.

Hug stares blankly at the man observing his movements and how he bears himself. Drinking in every detail of the man and judging his intentions. Can this man swim or does his armor way to much? Does he carry himself as a sailor or is he barely keeping his lunch down.

Marius identifies that the crossbows do similar damage to a large, heavy crossbow, but can fire six shots before they need to be reloaded.

The Knight Commander and 4 of his knights get into a longboat rowed by several of their crew. They climb up a rope ladder that you have thrown over the side.

"We don't mean to alarm anyone, but these waters are safer without smugglers and pirates. And someone stole a dragon egg on Tortagor and is trying to smuggle it somewhere. Not that any of you know anything about that." The knight commander pauses in front of Churchmouse. "Do you?"

While the knight commander is talking to everyone, one of his knights goes over to your passenger. "Cade, what are the chances of finding you here, heading away from Tortagor and a dragon egg missing at the same time no less. Still up to your old tricks?"

Female Human Unchained Rogue (Sniper) 1 | hp 10/10 | AC 17, t 15, ff 12 | Fort +1, Ref +7, Will -1 | Init +7 | Perc +3

Mouse squirms uncomfortably when the Knight Commander picks out her to question about the stolen egg. The rest of the crew know that this is the way Mouse acts when anyone besides Ashes tries to talk to her...but the Knight Commander's unlikely to know this.

"Ain't seen no dragon egg," the scrawny sailor replies, technically telling the truth.

The knights wander around for about 30 minutes, even taking a quick look below. Eventually the knight commander calls them back and they load up into their longboat and go back to their ship.

You get underway again rather quickly, the captain and mates not wanting to waste anymore time.

Salt walks over towards Cade, the gnome passenger. Quite the coincidence, that as we leave Tortagor someone makes off with a dragon egg. Who ever could pull off such an audacious caper would have to be unbalanced and reckless. Good thing we like unbalanced and reckless. The half-elf gives a smile and pulls a belaying pin giving one of the sails the slack it needs to unfurl so that the ship can get under way again.

Hug thanks Besmara once more. He then continues down into the hold and begins casting purify food and drink on the food. If those boarders did anything it must be stopped. Also shouldn't hurt to keep the meat "fresh". Besmara's curses come to those who are unprepared.

Mouse is pleased to see the sails of the Order of the Sun's ship diminishing in the distance. Overhearing Salt's comment to the gnome smuggler, Churchmouse goes about her business without comment, not wanting to give away that she's aware of the gnome's subterfuge as well.
She breaks into song.

"There she sails away, my love
O'er the shining sea.
Can't help but feel I'm better off
With her so far from me."

Several hours after noon you see that you are approaching a small island and the Captain calls all of the crew onto the deck. He points to the island, [b]"For those of you who haven't been hear before, welcome to Lastwater. This island is the last source of freshwater before we reach the dwarven kingdom. There is a spring island that we will resupply from. The locals here aren't terribly friendly and they can live in shallow water so we will be anchoring well offshore and sending a large party to get the water.

The Captain starts calling out names of the shore party and they include all of you. You have about an hour to prepare before you reach the island.

Marius, happy for some action, gets all the things together he might need for the shore party, including his bow, the Alchemist's Fire he picked up at last port, and most importantly, his sword.

He spends the remainder of the time anxiously sharpening both blades, eager for the adventure.

Ulark gladly prepares to join the shore party. "Lastwater, eh? What exactly do we need from here? I can make all of the fresh water that we'll ever need, as well as plenty of alcohol. Are our food supplies low, or is there something else that we are in need of?"

I assume that he has cast "read weather" for the captain earlier in the day. What kind of weather can we presume to have? As such, he has 3x cure light wound spells that he can cast today.

Still not brave enough to speak with the captain himself (other than to answer when he addresses her), Mouse immediately scurries over to Ashes to make an inquiry.

{Orc} "Hey, Ashes--What'd the cap'n mean 'bout the Lastwater natives bein' able to live in the shallows? They merfolk or somethin'?"

Mouse also hits the galley to fill her waterskin and pick up a couple days' rations to be safe. Then she wanders the ship briefly, an annoyed expression on her face. Finally, she works up her courage and approaches Ulark.

{Orc} "You seem plenty strong. Would ya carry my food an' waterskins fer me? They slow me down an' get in my way when I try to fire an arrow. I'll pay ya a couple silvers...an' I'll give watchin' yer back priority with my snipin' if things get dicey."

{orc}"Of course I'll carry your food and waterskins for you." The large half-orc sounded hurt as he said that. {Orc}"Keep the silver. We're mates, that means we look out for each other. A few more pounds isn't going to mean much to me, and I'd much rather have you at your best out there."

Female Human Unchained Rogue (Sniper) 1 | hp 10/10 | AC 17, t 15, ff 12 | Fort +1, Ref +7, Will -1 | Init +7 | Perc +3

Mouse offers Ularks a rare smile (It ain't pretty) and tries to make a muscle where her bicep should be. Alas, nothing. Handing the big half-orc her food and water, she scurries to a sunny part of the deck and examines the fletching on her arrows to make sure they're serviceable.

{Orc}"And I'm as slow as two snails ****ing. Anyways, smile more. It suits you."

Bluff: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

With that, he leaves the small rogue to her tasks and continues preparing his own gear for the shore excursion.

"Something like that churchmouse," Ashes says as he checks over some things in the armoury before you head out.

----

The captain speaks to Ulark, "Spells that can create things like fresh water are great, until they don't work for some reason. I would rather have freshwater I don't need than suddenly regret that easy chance to stock up. And some fresh fruits to add to our stocks before a week at sea never hurt anyone."

----

Once you have anchored about a half a mile offshore, the longboats are loaded. The players and 10 other crew are going ashore, the long boats are returning to the ship rather than saying. The beach is about 100ft of gently sloping sand, before reaching the treeline. There is an obvious trail cutting into the treeline.

One of the other crew members points to the trail, "The spring is about 2 miles up the trail. Fruit grows downstream of the spring. As long as we don't take too much or stay too long we shouldn't have any trouble. Just whatever you do, don't hurt the monkeys."

How are you traveling while on the island?

Female Human Unchained Rogue (Sniper) 1 | hp 10/10 | AC 17, t 15, ff 12 | Fort +1, Ref +7, Will -1 | Init +7 | Perc +3

If the trail's wide enough, I'd suggest going two abreast with maybe a 10-foot space between ranks. Since Mouse is a ranged combatant, I'd prefer to have her in the middle of the party. She's also kinda so-so in terms of Perception (+3).

Quick Question: Are the NPC pirates accompanying us inland or staying on the beach?

As the group of sailors meander and no one seems to be taking charge "Salt decides to step up.

Hug, can you and flappy take point and make sure we don't stumble into any trouble. Ulark why don't you and Marius take second rank. Then Churchmouse and I will take the third rank.

Salt looks thoughtful for a moment.

You should prolly take another body or two. Hug needed to find some plants as well, and he's prolly the best of us in the jungle, no t to mention he'll have the best chance of calming down an angry monkey or two. Sorry, I thought I updated before the weekend.

The group filling water gets a half dozen casks filled with the fresh spring water without any difficulty. However as they finish, they hear something large moving in the treeline past the spring. It is not in sight yet.

Hug identifies several plants that could be used to make anti-toxin, probably enough for 2 doses while his comrades collect several tropical fruits, probably enough for each crew member to get some fruit for a week or more.

But as the fruit team is about to finish they are approached by a curious monkey that wanders towards some gear that they stacked at the base of a tree.
