Brom follows the same procedures with the door to the next room as he did with the first. carefully listening at the door and checking to see if the door is locked. If it is locked he moves back so skully can work her magic on the door.

Brom puts his ear to the door, but hears nothing as he checks the door. With a slow turn of the handle, the door begins to open.

Lifting a hand he gestures to Brom to enter and go right while he will enter and go left. Then raises three fingers - he count's down.

Unless interrupted, on 0 Fenn opens the door for Brom and enters after him to the left longsword and shortsword in hand.

The room you enter is a library...a surprisingly intact library. Books fill the shelves on three sides of the room. There is a small table sitting in the middle of the room with a few books lying open upon it. There is even a rather looking comfortable chair sitting beside the table. The chair is presently occupied, however, by a very dead goblin.

Fenn:
You notice that some books have been taken or knocked from the top shelf (6-7 ft off the floor) of the case on the eastern wall. You see the books laying in a heap on the floor.

I've posted a spot to try and fill Skully's place.

Fenn taps Brom on the shoulder lightly to get his attention and points with his shortsowrd at the books shelves and the pile of books on the floor leading his gaze up to the section of missing books from the top shelf.

Fenn keeps his eyes on the books but steps over to the goblin, trying to figure out how the goblin died.. and what killed him?

Healing: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

But his examination seems to be inconclusive.

Whispering to the party, "Fan out. Search tha' room."

DM: Are there any obvious injuries on the goblin corpse?

After giving our friend here a look over, I will move to looking through the open books. Perhaps they will give us a clue what transpired here. Do we intend to stay here for a small while to investigate or are we going to press on?
*Walks over to the dead goblin and begins unceremoniously prodding it*

long enough to find anything of value and make sure the item we were sent for isn't here. Brom says as he move over to the bookcase Fenn pointed at. What am I supposed to be looking for over here Fenn?

Though Fenn can not discern any obvious wounds on the goblin, he does notice that the creature is completely desiccated. Quolamin's spell lights up the room making it easier for the group look around.

Most of the room is covered in dust. However, the area around where the goblin lies shows obvious signs of a struggle.

Quolamin:
You detect no magic in this room.

Jeseare:
Once Quolamin's spell lights up, you are able to make out several puncture wounds on the back and neck of the goblin.

Brom pokes his Bastard Sword into the space where the books that were knocked off the shelf should be.


When Brom shoves the tip of his sword into the void left by the books on the floor, a flurry of movement from the top of the case sends more of the volumes dropping to the floor.

Three creatures burst out and dive at the companions.

Quolamin, mouthing in an arcane tongue, gathers specific ingredients from his pouches and lashes his hands forward at the quickly approaching creatures.

Casting sleep on the three flying creatures. DC 16. 10' radius burst.

The stirges screech and dive at the adventurers. Once the mage releases his spell, the creatures begin to fly drunkenly around the room before crashing to the floor.

Fenn walks calmly over to the nearest Stirge on the floor and with a careful pause to aim - delivers a coup de grace with his longsword...

Thanks to Jeseare for pointing out the casting time on sleep. So the stirges will get to attack.

The stirges dip and dive around the room, splitting up to attack Fenn, Quolamin, and Brom.

Fenn:

Each of the stirges latches onto its victim and begins to feed from them.

Brom lays the edge of his bastard sword across the Stirge's neck and carefully cuts the things head from its body. He pulls the dead creature from his body and goes to help Qualomin and Jeseare deal with the one that attacked the wizard.

Bringor pulls out his rapier and carefully stabs at the creature who attacked Quolamin.

The stirges still attached to Quolamin and Fenn suddenly stop moving and fall to the floor, the mage's spell finally taking effect.

Fenn grabs looks at the shelves of books reading the titles briefly and grabs a Adventure/Romance Fiction off the shelf and a book of poetry if there is one to be found quickly. He hefts his swords and follows Brom from the room heading for the next nearest room.

The books on the table are mostly on wine making, there is, however, one book that stands out...a book on potions and potion making.

Brom:
As you peek out the door, you see three gobins that were doing there best to sneak down the hall towards the room you and your party.

how far away are the goblins when Brom spots them. Does Brom get spotted by them when he looks out.

Brom steps to oneside of the open door. Raising his bastard sword in front of him ready to strike down the goblins as they come through the door.


Brom, they were around 12 feet and they did not react as if they spotted you.


You see a creature run passed the doorway as it flings a stone into the room. When the stone hits the floor it releases a deafening bang.
