Karethas finishes his spell and a silvery beagle appears over the body of the fallen baboon. It charges the remaining visible baboon with a baying yelp.

Round 3
Yup, lets take it to them.
Seeing Karethas' puppy take out the only Baboon I can see, I move to -A/9 and fire at the first Baboon I can see, or at the pug if I see it.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 16
Attack-pug roll: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 11
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9
Unfortunately her shot goes wide(I assume).
Amir Awad Hajjir |
I'm slightly confused about positioning but assuming I can do so without issue I will come out and break to the left (A12)
Or is the dog in -B9 and attacking the monkey? If so I can't really move because they block my path...which means I will set a readied action to move if the monkey dis before my next init.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Amir, you should post your attack rolls and state that you attack the closest monkey. I am not sure whether we killed the monkey in the doorway last round or not. VooDoo I assume will move you to the most advantageous opponent.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
You guys killed the baboon in the doorway. I placed the pooch there to get the 10ft necessary to charge the baboon further in the room. Pooch is now at B8 attacking baboon at C8. I made a mistake in my post and said pooch was at -B8, sorry.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
I should if that is what I wanted to do...but I want to move to a12 if there is nothing in my way. I suppose if there is a baboon within arms reach I will smack it...
Attack 1;2 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 101d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 6
YYeeeaaahhhh
Sheik Voodoo |
The fallen baboon scrambles back onto all fours and snaps at the beatific beagle. AoO for Karethas' little friend.
Amir swings into the kitchen to find himself in the company of three more of the brutes leaping back and forth across the counters and cabinets. Two throw pans at him while the last jumps at him. Amir dodges the monkey up in his face, but is hit by flying crockery. Amir -4 and 2 hp.
In the back corner, crouched behind a jar, Amir spots the pugwampi ring leader.

Round 4
I think I should have moved to -A/9 last Round.
Seeing the culprit dog fey in the back(B/16), I take a shot at it.
Attack Pug at B15.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 20
Attack retry: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 5 + 1 = 13
I am really starting to hate these dog fey things.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
The wonder pooch snaps at the monkey as it tries to regain it's footing. It bites it's neck and shakes it violently for a moment before letting it drop. The beagle turns and sees Amir being attacked and throws itself into the fray.
Meanwhile, Karethas moves behind Amir and casts another spell. A golden glow surrounds the baboon's head.
Summoned riding dog 3 of 4 rounds remaining, 13/13hp.
AOO Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 3 + 1 = 23 Damage:1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 1 = 8
I presume that hits and downs the baboon. I love the pic you used for him on the map btw!
On my turn:
Move Action: Move to A12, Accrobatics to avoid provoking AOO from baboon in A11: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Standard Action: Attack baboon in A11 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 + 1 = 8(flanking, song) Damage: 1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 = 6 (song)
Karethas' Action:
Move Action: Step to -A9
Standard Action: Cast Daze (DC 14) at Baboon in A11 or if it is already dead, the one in B13
Faelar Braegen |
I move into the kitchen where I head for the Baboon in the far corner and thrust my blade towards it. All the while continuing to sing and inspire courage in my allies. (Moving to -A, 14)
Acrobatics (To avoid Attack of Opportunity) : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Acrobatics (To avoid Attack of Opportunity) : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Rapier Attack : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Rapier Attack : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
But my blade goes wide.
Inspire Courage + 1 Round : 3 / 9
Kzrira Maiwith |
wow. you guys are on it. unfortunately, no time to post atm. recap tonight.
Strange how that works when you have good and active players and a good DM.
In my last post, I should have started in -A/9 and then moved to A/9 to take out the pug. Sorry, was running earlier and forgot the move. I assume that I can hit the pug from there.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Amir presses on his baboon, hoping to clear the way as the pugwampi is off in the distance.
Attack! 1;2 1d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (20) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 231d20 + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 3 + 1 + 1 - 2 = 17
OOhh maybe! Damage 1d6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
Sheik Voodoo |
A'ight. let's see where we're at..I had meant to require a perception to spot pugly, but y'all are rolling to put misfortune to shame so SCRU'T.
Kzrira is right behind Amir and quickly lets fly an arrow right into the little gremlin. It yelps in pain and ducks out of sight.
Karethas celestial ally harries the baboon biting at its throat and the monkey rears up looking like it's about to fall over. Then the little dog is off, nimbly dodging around another baboon and nipping at it from behind. Faelar tumbles past the overrun monkey and assaults another one in the back. It doesn't know who to attack next and its confusion leaves it open to Amir's killing blow.
Aurichalcum has flown over the monastery and reenters from the cloister to find two mercenaries engaged with a pair of baboons. He whizzes past to strike a final blow to the staggered monkey.
The remaining kitchen monkeys vent their rage at the bounding hound and one manages to hit it with a bowl. -3 hp

Round 5
Seeing the annoyance disappear, Kzrira continues to shoot anything that looks like a monkey (trying to avoid her companions and the caravan guards.).
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 28
Attack2(if necessary): 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 5 + 1 = 9
Would give a baboon, but not sure which ones are still alive. Will aim for any one that is flanking someone first, then for which ever one looks most dangerous.
Here little pug pug, come and meet Mr. Arrow.
Sheik Voodoo |
I don't expect this to last long enough for another map :P
Kzrira fires another maiming arrow into the monkey on the conjured hound and Aurichalcum swoops in for the killing blow leaving one infuriated baboon dancing a jig on the countertop and baring its sizable fangs while the pug remains cowering under a bowl.
Faelar Braegen |
Noticing the Pugwampis hiding under a bowl I call out to the others, "The Pugwampis is hiding under a bowl here!" I then turn my attention to the threatening Baboon. I move to the Baboon and thrust my blade towards it.
Rapier Attack : 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Seeing my thrust go wide again I sigh, "I am really unlucky today, I can't seem to aim straight! Stop that embarrassing dance, you are giving dancers a bad image!"
Kzrira Maiwith |
Lets see how he dances with an arrow in his head.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 25
Attack rereoll: 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 7 + 1 + 1 = 24
Damage: 1d8 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 = 8
Someone get the bowl off the pug, I doubt even the caravan's fine cooks will be able to get the stench of pugwampi out of it.
Faelar Braegen |
"I wonder what Pugwampis tastes like ... ?"
Diplomacy : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Karethas ibn Faradin |
Karethas calls out to the celestial beagle,
The beagle leaps at any remaining baboons.
Round 3 of 4
Attack: 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 3 + 1 = 13 Damage:1d6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 3 + 1 = 10
Karethas prepares himself to impede the ugly little fey if it attempts to attack or run.
Readied Action: Cast Daze (DC 14) if the pugwampi looks to attack or flee
Sheik Voodoo |
Gravely injured by Kzrira's arrow, the last baboon tumbles from its perch and is immediately mauled by the fierce silver beagle. The way now clear, Faelar gingerly steps over broken pottery to upend the bowl and address the gremlin beneath.
The pitiful creature howls in frustration at the sight of all its dead troops and bares its little fangs at Faelar.
Amir Awad Hajjir |
Amir stays his mace in shock that the ugly litle dog creature would utter such a proposal.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Sorry, didn't realize the round was not done. Posting on the run this morning.
If you and your type ever return. There will be no next time. I will have arrows of cold iron. Very painful. Tell the other pugwampis that if any come here, we will go to the hills and kill you all.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
Karethas huffs to himself at all the talk that he doesn't understand. And I thought I was the linguist here. He manages to keep silent though as he waits for an end to the conversation. He looks over at the beagle and gives it a short bow as it disapates and returns to its plane.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Although I do not think that this thing deserves to live, it has now surrendered - or at least hidden under a bowl. It has promised to not attack again and to make sure that its pug friends will also not attack. I have told it that should we see any more pugwampis or pugwampi lackeys, then we will take the war to them and I will take them out one by one.
Now, someone get this thing out of here before I change my mind about putting an arrow through its ugly skull.
Kzrira Maiwith |
Seeing the pug flee, I turn to the rest of the party and the camp.
I hope that nobody is injured. While our group is quite skilled at seeking out and eliminating threats. We have not been employed to act as guards for this caravan. While I do not expect the pugwampis to return in the near future, there are many other predators out there which would love a snack of human flesh. If you all wish to be safe, you need to increase your guards and guard rotations.
Faelar Braegen |
I have a big smile on my face, "We managed to make a deal with a Pugwampis and a peaceful one, that has put me in a good mood"
I look around to Kzrira, "Should we spend a day scouting around this monastery to make sure there is nothing else around that could fall upon them, before heading back into Kelmarane? It would be intelligent to make sure they only have to look for danger from one direction, instead of all directions."
Karethas ibn Faradin |
"I'm sure the caravan will be shoring up the walls here. Our purpose is to scout Kelmarane, and I think we should focus on that."
Kzrira Maiwith |
Agreed Karethas, the caravan has to protect itself. We were not hired to protect them. We were asked to get into Kelmarane. That is our objective.
Now, where is breakfast? I am starving and we have a long day ahead of us.
Sheik Voodoo |
Your conversation is interrupted at this point by a shriek, "What was that ugly little thing?!" Almah appears at the door to the kitchen flanked by the four pactmaster guards.
Garavel calmly responds following behind, "Another pugwampi I believe. It appears to have entered through the fallen roof of the mess with the baboons. Only a slave and a mercenary were injured. Zataran is tending to them."
"Put the guards to work blocking up that room. No one is using it anyway. This entrance to the nave as well." She glances at the party annoyed. "Why did you let it go?"
Faelar Braegen |
"We struck a deal with the little creature, it would not come back here and we would not kill him or any of his friends. He is the new leader and they should listen to him. If they do come back we will take the fight to them and they will regret it. Please do not worry Your Highness."
Diplomacy : 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Sheik Voodoo |
Almah sighs shaking her in disbelief, "Well, I guess you're supposed to know what you're doing. I didn't think they actually talked." She looks down and notices her slipper has been stained with blood. "That's disgusting! Garavel! Get these damned monkeys cleaned up!" Spinning she heads back to her chambers.
Garavel serenely nods and goes to direct the clean up.
Karethas ibn Faradin |
Karethas looks at the leaving princess with a wry smile. Once she has left the room he turns back to the party, "Well, isn't she just a pleasure to deal with. Shall we go?"
Kzrira Maiwith |
Before the princess leaves: You highness, we fought these ugly pugly's here before, and now this one came. Although it promised to stay away, and considering how we slaughtered its monkeys, I assume it will, there are many more in the hills. We do not plan on going after them unless we absolutely must. For your own safety, I think that making a request with the next resupply wagon to get some cold iron weapons and ammunition would be most beneficial. I personally would like at least 2 quivers of cold iron arrows, and would pay for more. I would wager that just having weapons made of cold iron would cause these gremlins to stay away as the cold iron causes them great pain.
You do not need to heed my warning and advice, but you are responsible for the safety of your caravan. If your group is picked off one by one before even seeing Kelmarane, then I doubt you will succeed in your goal of reclaiming the city.
With this I go back to checking my bow and searching for breakfast.
___________
Once we are alone:
We start with outbuildings and patrols, weaken the force little by little. I think that the tannery would be a good starting place. Also, if we could get into it, taking out the group of gnolls who were bringing food to our kill of last night would be good. Every dead gnoll is one less we must face further up the hill.
