Karethas' softly crooned syllables soon have the cubs curled in a tight carnivorous ball where they can be quickly secured for their sacrifice.

Unless someone wants to carry one of these back for the princess to coo over, I say we kill one and then take the second as snake food.
I take a gnoll's battleaxe and do a non-lethal coup de gras on the smaller pup.
Non-lethal coup de gras damage: 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 4) + 3 = 12
Baring an objection, I then pull back an arrow and shoot the bigger cub.
Coup de gras damage: 3d8 + 15 ⇒ (7, 8, 7) + 15 = 37
I would rather this thing did not wake up while I was carrying it. We can use the wand, or Faelar can cast a spell to wake it up so that the snake has something to play with.
I then tie up the cub's mouth and tie its paws together.
Male Elf Bard - 1
I silently follow along with what everyone is doing, but when my name is mentioned to wake this cub up I look to everyone, "I could either go in and heal it, that would wake it up ... or Aurichalcum could go in with the wand, heal the poor cub and then fly away. I am more than happy to go and heal it, but I would like to tread carefully now, lest I fall unconscious again. I am sure that Aurichalcum, being such a great and majestic creature, will be more suited to this task especially since he can retreat from danger quicker than I, due to those magnificent wings of his."

Either way works for me. I plan on hobbling it so that the cub cannot run away. That way the snake and the cub can fight it out for a while before the snake wins, or at least I assume the snake will win.
Auri, Karethas and Amir - if any of you disagree, with my plan, post it so the Sheik can move us to snake land. Or more likely to the next set of unperceptive gnolls which will see us anyway because we are incapable of getting over like a 3 on our stealth rolls.
I don't foresee any objections and posting will be light on the weekend anyway so...
Kzrira efficiently kills one cub and trusses the other and you make your way carefully down to the riverside near the ruined mill to await nightfall and the serpent.

Isn't it in a building? I figured we could hobble the cub and toss it in and let the two of them fight it out. Then we get an injured (hopefully) snake that has just eaten.

I thought we wanted to draw it out of the building so we could attack it at a distance.
Karethas looks at the others, "I do not have any particularly useful spells here. I will be able to fling some more acid balls and I can maybe daze it for a few seconds, but that will be it. A Grease spell will not be useful against something that already crawls on it's belly."

Hey, a skill I am at least half decent in.
Survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
We look and find a place where the snake can get out of the building - a hole or something that looks like it has a snake path leading from it. We stake the pup there and then sit back and wait. I would prefer that we position ourselves so that we are on the opposite side of the building from the town. Thus causing the building to block us from the town as much as possible.

I was thinking that you could load the cub up with your nap nap poison, but then it dawned on me we want the pup active, so much for that idea.
Kzrira quickly finds the hunter's trail starting from a hole at the base of the mill. The giant cobra has worn a passage through the brush along the river's edge where the snake can always find prey lured to the flowing water. She figures a commotion right outside its lair might spook the reclusive beast and perhaps attract the attention of the gnolls so she looks for a less conspicuous spot near the river.
Downriver you find a likely site where an old cut bank gives an unobstructed view of a small silty beach. Staking down the dire hyena cub, you retreat into the brush to wait for the great snake's appearance.

Time drags on as you crouch in the scrub and weeds above the river. Near sunset the cub awakes and begins plaintively calling in an eery voice. Biting gnats soon add to your discomfort as the light fades.
Just when Kzrira can't take it anymore Faelar jumps up with a yell of surprise as a tall hooded form about as big as the elf himself rises from the shadows below and strikes the hyena cub. The cub gives a loud yelp of pain and the great cobra turns toward Faelar.

I take it my image dissapears? Did it roll its Will save?
"Light ... oh right, of course!" I clasp my hands together and whisper some words into them, finally opening my hands. Four small balls of light float out and hover towards the snake, once over the snake they stay where they are shedding enough light for everyone to see clearly.

A glob of acid flies through the darkening sky to land burning on the cobra's scales. Auri crouches ready to spring should the reptile approach.

I continue to concentrate on the image, which will just stand there in front of the snake looking like he is about to strike, but never actually striking.

Peering through the dimness at Faelar concentrating on his illusion, Karethas decides that he will have to light up the area. He pulls out a cooper coin, casts Light on it, and holds it cupped in his hand so the light shines towards the snake. "I hope this does not draw more gnolls."
