Karethas stares at gate in the wall. "I think we should be a little more cautious than that. A man who worships a goddess of thieves and spies is likely to protect his privacy in many ways, including magic and traps."

Karethas casts detect magic and examines the walls and gate.

Male Elf Bard - 1

'I am very sorry but climbing is not one of my strong points. Maybe I shouldn't have spent so long reading books and actually done some physical training? I am open for any other suggestions though, I would like to take those windows back to the house of Shelyn, IF we have enough time.'

HP 94 | AC/Touch/Flat 21/15/18 | Fort/Ref/Will +7/+8/+5 | Init +3 | CMB +9; CMD 23 Acrobatics (15) Bluff (14) Diplomacy (7) Kno:Local (6) Perception (13*) Stealth (17) FIRE: 5

Though quite dextrous my ability to climb is lacking. Tumble through a cord of vipers? Absolutely! Grasp the succulent fig from the top branch? I'll wait for it to fall! Amir chuckles to himself at his jest.

As Karethas begins to cast Amir looks at the gate I assume we are at the back one examining it for traps. Perception 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24

Beyond the distracting ringing on the Street of Chimes, Karethas is better able to concentrate and quickly detects a faint aura of abjuration on the garden gate. After the warning, Amir finds an alarm spell has been cast on the gate.

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

Whelp, iff'n the only alarm is on the gate - we should go over the wall like I recommended in the first place. But the choice is yours to make as a group.

HP 94 | AC/Touch/Flat 21/15/18 | Fort/Ref/Will +7/+8/+5 | Init +3 | CMB +9; CMD 23 Acrobatics (15) Bluff (14) Diplomacy (7) Kno:Local (6) Perception (13*) Stealth (17) FIRE: 5

Ah magic that would cause an alarm to be raised... Amir will turn to the others. We certainly run the risk of setting the spell off if we attempt to open or manipulate the gate. I could try to disarm the effect but magic is such a tricky thing and my training, though good, would still require that I am quite lucky. Our other option would seem to be scaling the wall here as Kzrira says. I am willing to try but if I fail we most certainly will be detected...or at least I would be...

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

Although I may appear small, I have some training in climbing. Let me see how hard this is. Did anyone bring some rope so that I can help the rest of you climb up?

Climb:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20

Like a cat, Kzrira scales the wall in a more concealed area well away from the warded gate.

Male Elf Bard - 1

'Well it would appear climbing is the only option, I would rather not be noticed just because of some bad luck.' I also try to give climbing the wall a go.

Climb 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

I follow Kzrira exactly, as she knows where is good to climb.

The wall is only 6 feet tall so you can pull yourself over with a DC 15 Climb check. You can take 10 for both the attempt and the assist.

Once Kzrira and Faelar are up everyone can boost Karethas over and they pull Amir over as well.

The garden at dusk is beautiful. The scents are amplified in the dim light. White stepping stones wander beneath citrus trees and through arbors covered in jasmine and other beautiful sweet smelling vines. Toward the house you hear the trinkling song of a fountain.

perception DC 10:
A pair of polished boots project toes up from under one of the arbors.

Male Elf Bard - 1

'Well, that took me by surprise, I did not think I would make that so easily. I was sure I would need assistance. That is a lovely sound, a lovely sound amongst a beautiful view.'

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

'Is that a pair of toes, or may be some-ones boots from under that arbor? Over there, can you see them or am I just imagining things?'

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

I stare at the elf wondering if he is insane and put my finger to my lips in the universal sign of Shut Up:

I then whisper to Amir: Are you stealthy enough to see what is there? If it is someone, I will surprise him with a bolt.

Male Human Wizard (Conjurer)/ Level: 9 |HP: 53 of 53/ NL| F=6 R=7 W=10 |Initiative +5| Perception +11(+13 w/ Gen)|AC 13(16 w/ Mage Armor)|Active Effect:Planar Adaptation (Fire Resist 20)

Karethas' pride seems very damaged as he lands on the inside of the wall. He takes a moment to adjust his robes and brush the dust and leaves off of his robes. When the toes are pointed out to Amir, Karethas pushes up the sleeves of his robes and raises his hands, as if ready to cast a spell at a moments notice.

Karethas will ready an action: If the owner of the boots shows any signs that he is going to raise an alarm, Karethas will cast Daze on him.

Wow I'm really sorry but I literally could not see the posts in this thread until this morning. Looking at the time stamps I have no idea how I didn't see other posts.

Amir looks to the boots and the intervening terrain. There are many long shadows and trees. I will attempt to make my way there

Stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24

With trained precisions Amir creeps towards the arbor.

Perception 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

no worries. probably a glitch.

Amir:
Nothing stirs as you approach. The boots are definitely attached to someone half buried beneath the vines. You doubt very much that someone is still living.

HP 94 | AC/Touch/Flat 21/15/18 | Fort/Ref/Will +7/+8/+5 | Init +3 | CMB +9; CMD 23 Acrobatics (15) Bluff (14) Diplomacy (7) Kno:Local (6) Perception (13*) Stealth (17) FIRE: 5

Sheik Voodoo:
Amir moves to the body trying to keep himself out of sight of other angles of approach and uses his knife as best he can to cut away at the vines. My young merchant or perhaps the young lady from the Sand Dragon...

Amir:
You begin to cut at the vines and a cloud of pollen suddenly drifts around you. DC 14 Will save or sleep.

HP 94 | AC/Touch/Flat 21/15/18 | Fort/Ref/Will +7/+8/+5 | Init +3 | CMB +9; CMD 23 Acrobatics (15) Bluff (14) Diplomacy (7) Kno:Local (6) Perception (13*) Stealth (17) FIRE: 5

Voodoo:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Ooffff cccourse!

While the others watch, Amir creeps forward to inspect the boots. After a moment he draws a blade to begin cutting away the vines and promptly collapses to the ground!

Male Elf Bard - 1

I briskly but quietly walk over to Amir to see what is wrong.

Stealth 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

I get to him, place my hand on his should and shake him slightly. I quietly mutter some strange words and perform a couple of hand gestures {Casting "Message"}. I start to whisper something, 'Amir, you all right, what happened? Amir? Amir, wake up!'

I'll go ahead and roll initiative.

Initiative rolls:

Amir 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Karethas 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Faelar 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Kzrira 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
?? 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

Round 1
Faelar
Amir
??
Kzrira
Karethas

Faelar:
Amir is unresponsive and as you shake him, you notice that the vines have begun to creep over his body. There is a burst of pollen from the purple and red flowers. Give me a DC 14 Will save or sleep.

Male Elf Bard - 1

Knowledge (Nature) do I recognise this vine? 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Will Save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18 (If it is a magical sleep effect, Elves are immune)

I draw out my weapon and attack it:
Rapier Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Rapier Damage 1d6 ⇒ 1

HP 94 | AC/Touch/Flat 21/15/18 | Fort/Ref/Will +7/+8/+5 | Init +3 | CMB +9; CMD 23 Acrobatics (15) Bluff (14) Diplomacy (7) Kno:Local (6) Perception (13*) Stealth (17) FIRE: 5

Oooooohh! Ooohh! I know it might be a bold move, controversial even, but on MY initiative I would like to sleep. :-p

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

Seeing Faelar draw his rapier, I loosen mine and move toward them with my crossbow drawn.

Perception:1d20 ⇒ 4 --> And I see plants, pretty plants.

Amir:
As you sleep tiny rootlets invade your skin draining blood. DC 14 Fort save or take 1 Con damage.

Kzrira approaches as Faelar pokes at the something in the vines. She cannot make out any attackers.

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

Faelar, what do you see? Is Amir ok?

Male Human Wizard (Conjurer)/ Level: 9 |HP: 53 of 53/ NL| F=6 R=7 W=10 |Initiative +5| Perception +11(+13 w/ Gen)|AC 13(16 w/ Mage Armor)|Active Effect:Planar Adaptation (Fire Resist 20)

Karethas casts detect magic, hoping to seethe source of an enchantment spell. If he sees no evidence of a spell, he will examine the plant from a distance. NATURE CHECK: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

Neither Faelar nor Karethas can quite identify the vines. They are definitely exotic and Faelar can almost see skulls in the mottled red and purple blossoms.

No magic to be found- sleep spell or otherwise.

Round 2
Faelar
Amir
??
Kzrira
Karethas

Male Elf Bard - 1

Still using my message, I whisper to Kzrira, 'A vine or plant is crawling over Amir, it has skulls in it and can burst pollen onto people.'

I thrust my blade at one of the vines, hoping to draw it to me instead of Amir.

Rapier Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Rapier Damage 1d6 ⇒ 5

Knowledge (Arcana) 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

Hearing Faelar's whisper, I grab Amir's foot and pull him away from the vine while holding my breath.

Strength Check if necessary: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

Faelar pierces the main stem near the root severely injuring it. The plant retaliates with a pair of barbed vines that flick toward the elf slashing and burning him with toxic thorns. Faelar -3 slash damage and -2 acid.

Kzrira is able to grab Amir and pull him away from the plant during the distraction. There is a tiny spray of blood as tendrils are yanked from his skin.

arcane knowledge doesn't help.
Round 2
Karethas
Round 3
Faelar

Kzrira
Karethas

Male Human Wizard (Conjurer)/ Level: 9 |HP: 53 of 53/ NL| F=6 R=7 W=10 |Initiative +5| Perception +11(+13 w/ Gen)|AC 13(16 w/ Mage Armor)|Active Effect:Planar Adaptation (Fire Resist 20)

Karethas finally identifies the plant itself as the foe and attempts to cover Kzrira's withdrawal of Amir. He pulls his arm back like he is winding up for a pitch and as he finishes his incantation a fist size glob of green liquid appears hovering in his cupped hand which he quickly throws at the the vines trailing from Amir.

ACID DART (7 of 7/day) 30ft Ranged Touch Attack:1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Damage:1d6 ⇒ 2 Acid Damage.

Karethas' conjuration flies right past Faelar's leg and strikes the heart of the damaged vine which writhes as it withers and dies.

Amir revives after a minute.

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

Once I have Amir away from danger, I shake him. Amir? Are you ok? what happened?

Male Elf Bard - 1

My message still active I whisper to both my friends, 'Well, that was rather painful. Good job on getting him to safety though; my dear lady. Also good shot from yourself; my intellectual friend. I think from now on, I shall remain near the back of the group if any more encounters show themselves. I do not think that I can take much more pain before I pass out, but I can still quietly assist you. How is Amir?'

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

He seems to be coming too. Karethas, any clue what that plant was?

As Amir comes around, you hear a door open and shut over the sounds of the fountain.

Listen DC 12:
A familiar voice says, "I told you, Omar, I heard someone near the door on the Street of Chimes a moment ago. Let's just make sure no one is hanging around. I already had one close call today."

Male Elf Bard - 1

Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18

'We should hide, people are coming over hear. One of them sounds familiar and another called Omar.'

Male Elf Bard - 1

I am going to ready an action. As soon as I see the people coming towards us, I will cast "Ghost Sound". With the target beyond the wall. It will sound like 4 drunk humans talking quite loudly. They will be saying 'See...I told you there was a 'hic' funny statue! I don't care... lets go 'hic' back to the tavern 'hic'!' After that there will be sounds of people stumbling away. The range of this spell is 25 ft at the moment, but should be enough, but they will receive a Will save to disbelief the spell. DC = 13

Male Human Wizard (Conjurer)/ Level: 9 |HP: 53 of 53/ NL| F=6 R=7 W=10 |Initiative +5| Perception +11(+13 w/ Gen)|AC 13(16 w/ Mage Armor)|Active Effect:Planar Adaptation (Fire Resist 20)

Karethas buries himself in the shadows as deeply as possible, but readies himself to cast a spell if they are discovered.

STEALTH CHECK: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 and ready Color Spray if I see both enemies and they seem aware of us.

Female Human Fighter/6, Ranger/1, Wizard(Spirit Whisper)/1, Arcane Archer/1 - (HP: 64/98; AC27/30; FF21/24; T18; F+10, R+11, W+7/+9; Perc: +13, Init +5)

I try to drag Amir out of the way and then hide as best I can.

Stealth: 1d20 + 3 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 3 - 2 = 18 --> +3 dex, -2 armor

I ready my crossbow to fire if someone sees me or acts like they can see someone else.

evidently Amir is still sleeping :P

In the gloaming light you see two dark figures walking along the path toward you. As they near, you can recognize one as Katlan, the crafty rogue that nearly killed Faelar today. With a quick cantrip, Faelar creates a disturbance outside the gate. Omar turns to investigate, but Katlan grabs his sleeve.

"No, ignore that." He points to the burned vines, "Someone is here." They look around apprehensively, but fail to see you.

Initiative rolls:

Amir 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Karethas 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Faelar 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22

The rogues turn toward Faelar as he begins his battle song. Before they can react, however, Kzrira sends a bolt into Katlan's gut and a brilliant wave of coruscating light washes over them from Karethas' hand. Omar falls unconscious and Katlan teeters with his eyes fixed blindly ahead.

The uproar appear to have finally awakened Amir, who stands up muttering to himself.
