OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT

Under heavy attack, the mighty black dragon falters, blood spilling from dozens of wounds. She staggers forward, raises
her wings, lets out an ear-piercing roar, and takes flight, headed for the harbor.

Map updated. Chars placed. Do deceide where you wish to go?
"Bottles" Lazuli |
Do deceide where you wish to go?
Based on what? The dragon gone. So what are we trying to do? Which way is the lodge? Our characters know this place, but to me it is a bunch of random rooms.
Professor Dario Westone |
"Now is our chance! Everyone get inside!" Dario races past the gates, headed for the doors of the Grand Lodge.

Dario is the first one of the group to break away and head for the open doors.
Natula Icosagon Thako |
Tries door.

I am guessing that the thinking is that aside from the dragon and the wave of goblins that there is a worry that there are more nasties about and that unless it is a trap or diversion that the mosoleum is the at the center of whatever it is the enemy is up to.
Fundir |
Fundir watches in awe as the seasoned veterans manage to fight off the dragon. He ducks and covers as the creatures scream washes over him, then follows Greyscales into the mausoleum, sword at the ready.
nightdeath |
The open courtyard is strewn with pools of acid and piled with rubble and other debris. Work of the dragon that was here.
Nacula tries the dor to discover that is is unlocked. Have palced you inside
These rooms contain large, steel surgical tables. Their perimeters are lined with additional work areas whose tables are covered with texts, surgical instruments and tools, alembics, scales, abacuses, and similar devices used in alchemical and biological tests. The rooms also hold barrels of wash water, along with bottles of various fluids and salts used in sterilization and embalming. The center of the floor contains a drain for run off, as well as a few waste buckets.
Professor Dario Westone |
Dario joins the others inside. He looks around at the surgical and alchemical tools. "Ah, it would seem this is an area for some experimentation work."
He glances at the others. "Where should we head?"
Not sure where we should we going. Is there a war council or battle room?

Perception Checks pleases.
This cavernous hallway is contains a number of elaborate skeletal displays. The reassembled creations consist of both accurate assemblies and imaginative creation built from the bones of multiple specimens. Several large, glass cylinders contain colonies of dermestid beetles for cleaning bones. Several have actively decaying specimens. Arches along the side lead to small workstations. Near the back sits another, larger work area filled with kilns, a hearth, and some large iron vats. In the middle of the floor, six corpses lie piled together is a pool of blood.

Bottle's prepared bottle arcs and hit the goblin, igniting its leathers and soon reducing small greenskin into a wreck.

Grayscales tries his best to intimidate the goblin but the wily creature uses the glass to block his strike.
Natula and Dario though take advantage of the creature's movement and their combined strikes of cold and blade puts it down.
The goblin though still tries to reach out and push the cylinders but falls short of his target as its eyes glazed over and it slumps in a heap to the ground.
Combat Over. Which room next? Just draw a random shape on which room the party wishes to go. Will check on it tonight.

Fundir |
Fundir grasps the bottle of insects from the goblin as Natula and Dario strike it down. With a shrug, he places it in his bag. "Beetlesssss... Thissss may come in handy..." he says to his companions. As he moves through the rest of the building into the room with the cage, Fundir stops short. "What magic issss thisssss??!!" he breathes in wonder, his head changing to that of a falcon as he peers around the room.

]Fundir, The cylinders are the ones containing the beetles, not hand held. Imagine one of those ant farms in a glass display. We are also behind time now.
Nacula doesn't find anything of use though she notices several specimens of beetles in their confined glass environment which could shatter if pushed.
From Overseer.
A strange, metal cage lies sprawled in the center of the room like a great, undulating, skeletal lotus. Long tendrils of translucent ether lash violently from the artifact, while crackles of eerie light dance across the metal frame and up into the ghostly pillar that erupts from the center of the device into the night sky. A dozen bodies surround the pulsating cage, flopping on the floor and convulsing madly.
This approach requires a run through the room, avoiding the wispy tendrils of ether—a reasonable task, as the ether isn’t intelligent. You have a 25% chance of being hit and will require a Fort Save.
Accomplishing this action requires some skill. If a group attempts to shut down the device, each player who can must make a Disable Device DC 18 check
Party decision time.
Fundir |
Ok, thanks for clarifying, Nightdeath. No portable beetle swarm :-( lol
I vote for running through. Fundir doesn't have disable device yet..

Professor Dario Westone |
"I'd like to try shutting the artifact down, but if we are to do it as a group, then I'll go with you to run past."
I'd vote for Disable Device, but looks like I'll likely get outvoted.
nightdeath |
Running past it is good. 25%
"Bottles" Lazuli 1d100 ⇒ 31
Fundir 1d100 ⇒ 89
Grayscales 1d100 ⇒ 46
Lumpii 1d100 ⇒ 62
Natula Icosagon Thako 1d100 ⇒ 95
Professor Dario Westone 1d100 ⇒ 45
Bottles zips across the room, a thin tendril narrowly missing him as it flies across the room and sputters out.
Dario and Grayscales end up leaping over theirs as they too managed to avoid the sputtering device.
Fundir seizes a point as the machine lapses into silence before it explodes again.
Natula by dint of simple calculation of each possible trajectory of each instance per ray, simply strolls through unscathed once her calculations are done.
Unfortunately, the way is barred by a locked door and it'll take some time.
3 Fort Saves vs Dc 15
Sucessful Saves, dmg halved.

2) 1d6 ⇒ 1

Natula Icosagon Thako |
Strolls are for prim, old people--Natula struts. ;) Here's a question: Are the far doors open?
Grayscales |

fort vs DC15: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (15) + 4 = 19 save take 2
Is the door assumed to be taken care of in the three rounds of saves, or do we need to do the taking care of.
Grayscales works on making the door into smaller chunks of door until the way is clear, meanwhile he manages to avoid most of the magical damage.
hp 14-2-2=10 / 14
Professor Dario Westone |
Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 5 dmg
Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 1 dmg
Fort Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 2 dmg
Disable Device: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14
Dario grits his teeth as he tries to unlock the door, but he seems to have trouble and relents to Grayscales bashing the door in.
"Bottles" Lazuli |
Once it is clear the door is locked Bottles runs back, out of range and waits for those who can to unlock it.
He'll ready his Wand of Cure Light Wounds to heal the damage taken in the cause.
Fundir |
Fundir reaches the far end, and realizes the door is locked. With all of the magic floating about, his body suddenly shifts and takes on a brown fur with a twitchy little nose. Aspect of the mouse, gain Evasion as the rogue feat
Fort 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Fort 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Fort 3: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
The magic bounces all over the room, but the nimble Nagaji is able to dodge all of it.
nightdeath |
Well Done Fundir.
Bottles, assumed as waiting for the rest of the tables to join us at the locked doors. Hence the Fort Saves to represent it. Still need those though.
Grayscales take 1 minimum.
Natula, doors are locked as far as you can see.
Note to all: Damage taken maybe reduced further due to actions from the other tables. Pending Overseer to push forward.
Despite the party's best efforts to avoid the rays, it's clear that the contraption's has gone haywire and is spitting out sparks everywhere. You can also see fellow pathfinders jinking out of the way of those sparks while some others run blindly in and others have taken all manner of tools and weapons to it.
nightdeath |
Good news. Any damage rolled for the tendrils of energy is halved.
Dmg is now
1) 2
2) 1
3) 2
Half of the above if you saved.

Okay not really getting any of that (aside from missing the line that says they're locked). If the doors are locked why not retreat once that becomes apparent have Natula enlarge someone already strong and have them batter them down and then we can all crash through? Basically I don't get how Natula wouldn't get that it's a good idea for like thirty Pathfinders to stand bunched up in a dangerous area making fortitude checks for three rounds, especially considering she's a wizard with a wizard's Fortitude and hit points. Why not let a single pounder pound? Was this something we were meant to go to another thread and kibitz about with the other tables?
