Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Here is an area to discuss the Mystery Murder Tour. Have a dashingly charming time Ladies and Gents!

91/111hp Dark Reckoner Warlock

"Thank you, kind sir. Willst we be getting our roles in a pm?"

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

You will. There will be no Subverter or Trapper thanks to the very small group of people, and only one Investigator. Cycle begins when the first post goes up and ends in 72 hours after that. Please post a vote within the cycle and if you have a special role pm me with your choice of person to assassinate/protect/investigate.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Roles have been assigned. If you got no PM you may assume yourself to be an Aristocrat and act accordingly. Those of you who do have a role, remember to send me a message containing your choice within the cycle.

And, as I forgot to mention earlier, there are no University Chums right now either.

EDIT: A note on formatting. Please place votes and changes to votes in ooc text and bold, like so: Vote for Lord Fattykins. or Change Vote from Lord Fattykins to Duke Fancypants.

Would it be possible to post a list of players (living & deceased)? I'm ready to start throwing accusations around and am trying to figure where best to start.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Not a problem, let me get that up for you.

Spiffy!

Two questions: Is everyone in the game yet (Perhaps we should PM people)? Are we voting to hang someone in the first day cycle or do we gotta start waiting for bodies to drop?

Wheres all the posts people? I keep refreshing my browser to find out no progress has been made.

Aren't there supposed to be wild accusations being thrown all over the place?

FOR SCIENCE!

Bampf! Here's my Alias for the first few games.

Name
-Dr. Lugwaude Lächelnschiefe

Country
-East Germany

One or two lines about appearance.
-A pale effeminate doctor with dirty blond hair, blue eyes, sunken eyes that dart wildly about.

Recent family history–why do they need to take handouts? Are they poor, or merely shameless?*
-Dr. Lachelnschiefe grew up to a noble family's who's fortune was squandered away by his late father. He attended one of the best universities in Leipzig and became earned his degree in genetics at an astoundingly early age. He began working for the government and was lauded as a genius when he developed a method to weaponize pumpkins to produce a toxic gas. Over the years he began to develop a habit of huffing ether and became increasingly loony, shorty after losing his job with the government he opened a private research facility that was soon overrun with lawsuits due to various botched human clinical trials and dubious experiments involving strange things like genetically enhanced turnips, the reproduction habits of jellyfish, and coconuts that are filled with a yeasty ale rather than milk. He hopes this daring adventure will yield new funds to do more research and settle his many outstanding lawsuits.

Why would an assassin want to kill them?
-Dr. Lachelschiefe is a dubious man. He's performed many unsafe experiments and is constantly pushing the bounds of moral ethics. It's safe to say there are a few failed experiments that hang over his head like a dark cloud and many who'd want him dead for it. Conversely many of his successful experiments likely have resulted in adequate grievances that would lead one to murder as well.

I think we're meant to vote by pm to Ryuko?

In games of this sort that I have played in the past, the 'victims' all voted in public to lynch/hang/burn/etc. their target of choice. I assumed it was the same here, but upon review I don't see a definite statement either way.

91/111hp Dark Reckoner Warlock

Sorry, I have not played games like this before and wasn't sure of the protocol.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Votes arr meant to be public. The only people who need to do pms to me are those with roles.

:) My experience is similar to that of loimprevisto. I was unsure of if we're voting before bodies drop or not. I'll toss mine out anyways.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

We will be voting this first cycle, though because of the waiting so far I think I will extend it one more day. Cycle will end at 7pm Tuesday night Central Time (GMT-6)

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

One final thing, for those of you who haven't managed to get characters (Loimprevesto, Enlight_Bystand) Post those up as soon as possible. All characters not posted by Tuesday will not be joining.

Ummm, Ryuko? Loimprevesto is Prof Alessandra.

Ryuko wrote:

We're in the same time zone! This is awesome!

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Jesus my mistakes multiply unto infinity. Apologies Loimprevesto. You don't need another character.

Hamish Cunningham wrote:

I'd be inclined to agree with you, but Ryuko already stated that those without full profiles done by Tuesday won't be posting. I'm not sure if MTalarek qualifies since he posted up a partial, but if he gets booted from the game on Tuesday it's safe to bet he's not an assassin. As an assassin would be a fool to get booted from the game early.

I'm working off of 2 things currently:

  • Someone who's posted relatively early implying they got a PM for a role.
  • Someone who's been reluctant to post up a vote. As the safest method I can think of for an assassin is to be very conservative about voting to avoid others voting against him/her in spite and or draw any undue attention.

I'm actually torn between either Adrien, Hamish, and Wowbanger. I'm only keeping my vote on Adrien because I'm scared someone will ninja in a tie and kill me and I'm 100% certain about myself.

Questions @Ryuko:
-How many assassins are in play?
-What other roles are in play?
-Do you have a list of players that are in the game currently?

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

There are 2 assassins in play

1 Investigator and The Silver Fox

There is a player list on the Campaign Info page

I never though about it like that. Perhaps I will change my vote to Wowbagger. I feel bad doing so though. I just chose somebody to get the ball rolling. Had I not been the first post I would have probably chose somebody else. Lets hope he really is an Assasin.

I tried role playing to find out how many Assasins are in play. I'm not entirely surprised the answer has not come up yet since I kind of see knowing as a form of metagaming. If we are to know I'd prefer to do it through roleplaying and not have Ryuko just hand us the answer. The same can be applied to the other roles.

The list of in game players is in the Campaign Info tab.

Adrien Ampere XII wrote:
Vote for Hamish, seeing as he was the only one who was making accusations before Ampere left, which he saw as a sign of having something to hide.

I must say I'm shocked! As one of the very few here who hasn't accused you I'm surprised that I would be your first choice. Also, see my responce to Lugwaude thats just above this.

FOR SCIENCE!

Oh I was planning on applying heavy amounts of meta-gaming to this type of game. Paying attention to vote history, activity, and the like. Then simply justify it all through proper Roleplaying

I was mostly just curios to how much of the vote pool the assassins carry currently. At current it's 22%. If we don't get obscenely lucky it's 28% tomorrow.

A split vote with say 4 candidates means they can pile on votes to turn the tide and dominate relatively quickly. So I'm hesitant to open up a new front and prefer to just pick from whoever has gotten a vote who I speculate the most. The less concentrated we are the easier it is for them to swing it in their favor, which is a bit of a natural advantage.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Note that unless they happen to attempt to kill each other, the assassins are not aware of who the other assassin is. In other words if no-one is killed by assassins in a cycle it means one of three things

1: The assassins have discovered each other and know who they are.

2: The Silver Fox stopped the assassination

or 3: Neither of the assassins attempted to send me a target, and so I have no idea who they'd want to target. This is fairly unlikely.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Sorry Hamish... looks like you're gone.

Completely OOC & game; Doug hope you continue posting in here and will join the next game.

+1

Thank you everyone for such an exciting run.

I had a bit of a different idea walking into the game than what actually transpired, which is why my play style was a bit more aggressive. That being said, the way Hamish acted was how I wrote him. Just like playing Pathfinder I refuse to break character, even if it means writing myself into an early grave. I had a good feeling that I might be the first to die for these reasons so I'm not upset. You can't come out the gate swinging and not expect to take it in return.

I plan on following this game to the end. I like the concept. I'm dying to know who is actually playing the Assassins and which of the assassins successfully murdered Hamish. Think of me like the dead brothers from the movie Stardust, I'll be around even though you might not see or hear me.

Thanks to Ryuko especially. You noted in the Recruitment tab That you plan to make this a regular thing. I hope you do. If so please send me a PM when that time comes. I already have another character in mind that I think would be fun to play. If you ever need an NPC or similar to keep things moving around here you can also count me in.

I look forward to seeing whose next.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Since I have no PMs (from anyone) for this cycle and only three votes, I suppose I'll extend this cycle until Monday at 7. That's likely my fault as I just realized I missed the customary "Cycle 2 begins now" post.

So... Cycle 2 began Monday and ends Monday at 7PM Central Standard Time GMT-6

91/111hp Dark Reckoner Warlock

Sorry, I have been posting in the game thread & was meaning to cast my vote, but work got ahead of me.

Ryuko wrote:

Adrien Ampere XII was Lynched. He was an Aristocrat.

Welcome to the afterlife friend. I'm surprised you didn't arrive sooner.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Cycle 3 begins now and ends Friday at 7.

Human Eccentric Highland Toff / Lvl 20

Two Aristocrats in two cycles? Hmm... Things are heating up!

FOR SCIENCE!

Few Questions

Are they both 3 days long? Do the lynching/hangings happen at day then 3 days later an assassin strikes? Or do both things happen simultaneously? If that isn't the case then we're still waiting on a kill to come through in 3 days or did something weird happen?

Do you reveal roles of those who might have a special role along with if they're assassins? Would the investigator/silver fox be able to post their findings once dead or do they need to do so while they're still alive?

Sorry to see you where innocent Adrien Amprere. However if it's Kosher I highly recommend that both you and Hamish stick around and speculate via discussion with the rest of us as I know with 100% certainty I can trust both of you so your speculation holds far more weight when I can't decide who to vote for. (If this is Kosher)

Anyways can we try and format out votes in a similar manner to how Ryoko posts them? So post the person who's up to be hanged with their current vote count then afterwards a list of the characters voting for them in parentheses. Copy/Paste should work easily enough.

Example:
AA XII: 3 (Wowbanger, Red Robert, Dr. Lugwaude)
Sir James: 1 (Prof Alessandra)
Wowbagger: 1 (Adrien Amprere)

It might make tallying things up for Ryuko easier and clearer and make tracking suspicious voting patterns easier as well.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Something odd happened. The Lynchings and Assassinations happen at the same time, within the same cycle. I do reveal special roles once they die. Though investigators and the fox are not allowed to weigh in once they die. Adrien and Hamish are able to stick around but are not allowed to speculate on the game.

FOR SCIENCE!

*Dons Deerstalker hat and produces pipe*

My OOC speculations:

One of three things must have happened last cycle.
-Aristocrat got protected from death by SF.
-Assassins Met.
-Neither Assassin turned submitted a target via PM.

I've found this little clue to be quite interesting:

Ryuko wrote:

This seems to indicate that both of the assassins and perhaps those with other roles are relatively inactive. Granted I'm relatively inactive, but I prefer to watch things from the sidelines and have had considerably difficulty integrating my character RP wise.

In any circumstance this caught my eye from page 1:

Hamish Cunningham wrote:

The first player to be killed off conveniently was the one calling who held an inclination to cast a vote for MTalarek? Then again it would be awfully blunt way to go about it yet he's avoided the chopping block entirely since then without a single suspicion cast his way.

Then there's the fact that MTararek doesn't even have an alias up and merely a half hazard few sentences up in the recruitment section. However he somehow made it past the Tuesday cutoff deadline, I'm suspecting that it's because he has a role and possibly one of assassin.

So here are my Worst/Bad/Best case thoughts on if he's hanged:
-Worst: He's either the silver fox or investigator. Which case voting to hang him he might be prompted to reveal any info into the open he has which could help us.
-Bad: He has no roles and is simply an aristocrat. However he's one that doesn't vote and that could easily give the assassins massive voting control if they've met each other and he stays alive.
-Best: He's assassin and everyone's chances for survival increase greatly.

Either way in my personal opinion he's the most suitable to be targeted and "the assassins might be inactive" might hold some weight to it if he turns out guilty. Him having us chasing our own tail would be devilishly clever if he's guilty and that's his intent.

I see no downside to tossing the fellow off the boat.....now for some IC excuse to do so...hmmmmmm...

Human Eccentric Highland Toff / Lvl 20

OR, and this is just a theory, he is not playing! Could be as easy as that!

You convince me to change my vote away from MTalarek and then you come back with him as your prime suspect?!? I don't know how to feel about this...

As much as I'd like to cast my opinion on who is filling what role, Ryuko specifically requested dead characters do not speculate. Much like the doctor though, I have been gathering evidence.

In any case Doctor, you could consider integrating your character RP wise by posting said speculations such as the above statement in the Gameplay thread. There have been many similar posts like the one you made going on a lot this past week.

Human Eccentric Highland Toff / Lvl 20

Playing the game as the Red is taxing... I literally have no idea what is going on, as I am playing it so obliviously.

FOR SCIENCE!

He's in the game indicated by Ryuko having a vote for him stick in cycle 1. If the assassins have met and that's a feasible possibility they can run the table with a split decision amongst aristocrats. As is I've got no other information to work off of and I like the option that even if I'm incorrect the least valuable aristocrat dies. To that end I'll be voting for him and if there are no other takers I'll choose between whoever else is up for hanging that I suspect being guilty the most.

That's my personal ooc speculation and I felt it had some merit and should be shared. Though, I suppose it sets me up a the most viable scapegoat should it be incorrect.

@Hamish- I hardly say I convinced you of anything. I simply called for the blood of a Frenchman on a lark and assumed it would be foolish to hang someone who'd been culled by the Tuesday no character no play bit. If he's not in the game then it would be lovely for Ryuko to clear that up for me, however all the knowledge I have currently indicates he is. Note I said I'd be inclined to agree with you.

I'm currently working on posting it up IC and will have it up after my lunch break. Figured I should at least let it be known before it get's too close to zero hour as I found the thought pertinent.

The Exchange

Speculations abounding......

So who is left anyone feel like tallying up the players?

I think a Tally is in order since some people seem to be floating under tha radar, via lack of posts! :)

Isn't the Red Robert insane? I thought you were doing quite well with this character.

Dr. Lugwaude Lächelnschiefe wrote:

This was a good observation though. It was good enough for me to change my vote because it did in-fact make sense.

I just happen to notice it after you mentioned this. Sorry if I ame on strong.

Dr. Lugwaude Lächelnschiefe wrote:

Why not try calling him out in-game? if he is here then I'm sure the he's got to be monitoring posts. If you're looking for RP possibilities this would be a good one.

I will vote for the quiet one. If the Englishman does not change his vote from me, take it as further proof of culpability.

Human Eccentric Highland Toff / Lvl 20

Why thank you Hamish.

But that is what I mean... I am playing Robert so well, in so far as I am playing a Scots man who "played" the bagpipes with nout but his lips, for a fallen French man, that myself, as a player, have no idea what is actually going on in the game.

I vote on a whim, lead by what the Red thinks to be right. It is fun. I couldn't be more confused if I stuck my head in the sand. I have zero suspicions!

Lucky for you I have the day off work and a lot of time on my hands.

##/## will represent In-Game/Total-Posts with character Alias

Sir James Dunham-Fairfax: Very Active 36/41
Duke Leto Atredies: Very Active 21/25
Sir Robert McTavish "The Red Robert": Active 17/20
Wowbagger the Infinitely Prolonged: Active 13/15
Dr. Lugwaude Lächelnschiefe: Less Active 3/9
Dame-Professor Alessandra Devries: Less Active 3/3
Colin McBride (MTalarek): Inactive? 1/3 He also has only a total of only 4 posts listed in his profile with no Aliases.

Male Human Super Cruel DM 10

Mtalarek isn't in the game! Sorry, I'll clear that when I get off work.

Looks like you're starting back at square 1 Doctor.

FOR SCIENCE!

Well I'm glad I didn't do something rash like post about it IC considering his existence was questionable and that you didn't stick your vote to him in cycle 1 as per my original assessment even if it held no water in the end. Having Ryuko finally step in and clear that up for me is sublime.

As it was what I found the most logical choice from amongst worst/best case positions from the start of his inactivity.

Thanks for the compiled list of Inactive/Active players my dear Watson. It sort of mirrors what I was feeling anyways with hard fact. To that end I still place weight on activity due to Ryuko's OOC so I'll be going with Dervies as my prime backup.

However I'm still inclined to suggest we concentrate our vote so we don't split our votes among too many candidates the assassins have too much vote control with the possibility that they've met to make that a too appealing of an option. Regardless of who's picked I'm very leery of a lynch/hanging race between too many candidates it's too easy to tie and gives our killers an advantage.

I wouldn't say I'm back to square one as much as I'm still operating with my working theory, but have no eliminated one candidate instead. I didn't invest much stock in MT being the culprit as it's all conjecture and guesswork anyways. He was merely the best choice if he was on the table and worth clearing up in OOC if he wasn't.

Totally not a Werewolf

I got *absurdly* busy this week with some unexpected travel for work. Back now, the Professor should be pleading her case shortly...

FOR SCIENCE!

I would like to note that if we get the wrong person here and an aristocrat isn't saved by the SF the game is 2v2 and the aristocrats lose.

Good luck everyone!
