Kingmaker you build your own magic mart. Really, the best economy buildings are those that produce magic items. You do need to be able to use a certain type of item, but you know what types of items are culturally appropriate for the area. I haven't read the AP (just played through it) so I don't know what they say about potentially adjusting the McGuffin in it -- seems there is one item you get that the group needs to be able to use or it is TPK.

Rise of the Runelords you go through Magnimar multiple times. Population 16,428.

If we are going by GM Guide settlements, that would make them both large cities, so limit of 50K.

Those are the APs I've seen so far.

Now all that said, you are being kinder than the normal rules by allowing the upgrade dust. Still, it is incorrect to say that APs don't have a magical marketplace.

I suspect that Tiny Coffee Golem didn't quite know what he was talking about with regards to the ethereal plane:

Ethereal plane:

No Gravity
Alterable Morphic: The plane contains little to alter, however.
Mildly Neutral-Aligned
Normal Magic: Spells function normally on the Ethereal Plane, though they do not cross into the Material Plane. The only exceptions are spells and spell-like abilities that have the force descriptor and abjuration spells that affect ethereal beings; these can cross from the Material Plane to the Ethereal Plane. Spellcasters on the Material Plane must have some way to detect foes on the Ethereal Plane before targeting them with force-based spells. Zilvazaraat is the equivalent of a large city. 8k base value, 50k purchase limit, same as the towns you listed.

Base Value and Purchase Limit: This section lists the community's base value for available magic items in gp. There is a 75% chance that any item of this value or lower can be found for sale in the community with little effort. If an item is not available, a new check to determine if the item has become available can be made in 1 week. A settlement's purchase limit is the most money a shop in the settlement can spend to purchase any single item from the PCs. If the PCs wish to sell an item worth more than a settlement's purchase limit, they'll either need to settle for a lower price, travel to a larger city, or (with the GM's permission) search for a specific buyer in the city with deeper pockets. A settlement's type sets its purchase limit.

Alright, I totally misunderstood how magic items and settlements work.

Given that, Z's limits don't seem that bad. Still strange that the limit is 8K for finding magical items to buy. This means the rules as written don't allow you to buy a +2 weapon (based 8300 plus cost of weapon). Guess it is a matter of too much PFS and never having to worry about this sort of problem.

Guess I will need to think about how badly I want some items.

Opuline vault (earth plane) is likely to get us a better deal.

The upgrade dust is your rules, not the rules as written.

Rules as written you can't get to the +2 weapon because it is the total value of the item. Costs +300 to get a masterwork weapon which is required for enchanting. From there, you need another 8000 to enchant it to +2.

That means it is automatically over 8K.

Still need to decide on my last feat, but I'm going to give up on the idea of a staff.

Amusing thought: A wizard can cast Form of the Dragon on their familiar and then Transformation. Since only one of them is a Polymorph spell, they would both work.

I'm not going to be doing this -- I don't want my familiar killed. Still, I do find it an amusing thought experiment.

Do you have the city stats for Opuline vaults? Crummock did send me the stats for city of brass.

Form of the dragon and transformation work. I know people who turn their imps(one of the best improved familiars) into dragons via form of the dragon. They don't even bother about transformation. 4 armed gargoyles are still better for beatsticking(all primary attacks) until you get to the last few forms.

Seriously though, Mr Z is the only merchant you get, AP as written. So anything else is a deviation.

It looks like the Opaline Vault is defined in two different places. I know that there is a level 1-5 PFS Scenario also set there -- I've played it.

This is the season for elemental stuff.

BTW, Mr. Whiskers eyes are going to turn blue soon. He will also be buying a lot of diamond dust. I believe you've not placed a limit on it, if you want to please let me know soon.

Unfortunately, Paizo have not actually *published* the 'City' stats for many place that are not on the prime material plane (for some bizarre reason, they assume that most APs take place on Golarion!).

The following is the complete list that I am aware of (and these were only published within the last year):

Armun Kelisk (Plane of Air, CG) - Base Value 29600, Purchase Limit 170,000
Opaline Vault (Plane of Earth, LN) - BV and Purchase Limit as above
City of Brass (Plane of Fire, LE) - BV and PL as above (note, this is different to the originally published stats, which were much higher)
Vialesk (Plane of Water, N) - BV 34,400, PL 220,000.

Out of all of those options, I would recommend only visiting Armun Kelisk - since Plane Shift has you arriving 5d100 miles off target...

Regarding purchasing and crafting, it definitely varies from one AP to another.

For example, Serpent's Skull mostly takes place in the middle of the jungle, away from markets, whilst Jade Regent quite literally involves a year or so of just traveling, providing a ridiculous amount of crafting time...

@Einar: RAW, there is no limit.

One of my PFS characters has what I affectionately refer to as an 'oort cloud' of ioun stones (all of the +1 skill cracked ioun stones, as well as a few more).

Some don't stack, but they are slotless items and there is no limit on the number you can have up at one time.

Generally bonuses of the same type do not stack, except for dodge bonuses(but they are rare as heck, and don't think dodge bonuses apply to anything else except AC).

Cracked Pale Green Prism - + 1 COMPETENCE bonus to saves
Cloak of resistance + 3 RESISTANCE bonus to saves

The only other item for saves you can get is luck...this, or this(but clashes with your charisma headband) or an actual luckstone.

Crummock might know more, but I'm not him.

Based on gameplay and this comment, I think we are skipping it.

If you are crafting the incense, just report how much you can craft. If you are buying it, just report how much you bought. Based on what I've seen of Mort's style it is better to just report and they will correct you if any changes are needed.

Total 4,900 for 2 blocks crafting

After crafting I'm left with 24,530
Buying in bulk is 4900 each

I should be able to buy 5 more in addition to the two I craft giving me 7 blocks of Incense.

Now I rolled once for the individual item last page, unsure if Mort wants me to roll again for how much of the item he has in stock.

What happened was that since the only answer I got from the party re: elemental plane was that Crummock said he was happy with his purchases, so we skipped it.

So you did not manage to buy anything from Mr Z, as per this roll. After crafting for a week, you get 3 blocks more incense from Mr Z. Once the roll for the item fails, it fails, you don't get to retry.

Total number of blocks of incense: 5

If you were going to the Plane of Air, it wouldn't be as simple as I go there, buy my stuff. I'd be doing you a disfavour if it was - that's why I had given the traits of the plane of air and actually requested for the buff list.
