Chuffy, Stealth: 20, over the fence
Poog of Zarongel, Stealth: 22, through the gate
Reta Bigbad, Stealth: 31, (assuming through the gate)
Mogmurch, Stealth, 20, (assuming through the gate)
The two-masted ship lies mired in the mud in this clearing, its rigging thick with moss and decorated with lanterns and windchimes made from goblin skulls and bones. Strange writing is faintly visible along the ship’s prow, while the soggy, swampy “yard” that surrounds the wreck is encircled by a rickety wooden fence. A thin curl of smoke wafts up from a chimney that protrudes from an unusual
box-like structure near the ship's bow.
The mud is deeper than it looks, and is slow going. There is little cover, but the goblins manage to make good use of it.
Consider everything inside the fence difficult terrain, due to the churned mud.
A vine-choked gangplank with a mossy handrail descends sharply from the ship’s bow to the muddy ground below. One handrail seems to be encrusted with a large ball of dried mud.
I've moved you toward the gangplank, but not up it, assuming that's where you wanted to be...
I'll pick up in about 12 hours, and assume you've placed yourselves differently by that point, if you wish.

Reta Bigbad - End Girl |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Reta suddenly looks worried. she turns to the rest of the group and pantomimes something.
Bluff (convey secret message): 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (13) - 2 = 11
She tugs her ear (possibly mocking Poog), then pretends she's on a row boat where she gestures wildly at her fist. When no one figures that out she threatens you with it. Then she begins prancing around in circles shaking her head and snorting like a bull, but no one seems to get that either.

Some Random Goblin |

Survival: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21.
Chuffy gives Reta a blank look, before he puts two-and-two together, and miraculously, gets four.
"Ohh! There's a nasty big horsie here!"
He then cautiously tries to climb the side of the ship.
Climb: 1d20 + 3 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 5 = 21.

GM Crucible |

One more thing...
A vine-choked gangplank with a mossy handrail descends sharply from the ship’s bow to the muddy ground below. One handrail seems to be encrusted with a large ball of dried mud.

Reta Bigbad - End Girl |

Remembering the last time she encountered wasps. They were looking down their noses at her at an outdoor cotillion presuming she was there illegally and some how involved in drugs.
"WASPS STING HORSE!" She hisses as quietly as she can manage.

GM Crucible |

The wasp nest is marked by the red circle, on the map.
As you approach the derelict ship, the horse scented Reta, and comes around the corner, angry and pawing.
Reta: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Chuffy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Poog: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
Mogmurch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Horse: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Horse first moved in the "surprise" round".
---ROUND 1---
Horse
Mogmurch, Poog, Chuffy, Reta
Fate:Moggy, Reta: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Fortunately for the poor goblins, the horse cannot charge due to the thick mud. It moves quick toward Mogmurch and tries to step on him with its hooves, missing as the tricksy goblin bobs and weaves.
Horse, hooves: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 14
---ROUND 1---
Horse
Mogmurch, Poog, Chuffy, Reta
Those in bold may act.

GM Crucible |

Reta takes a 5' step toward the vicious horse, and swings mightily, but only grazes it.
(I moved you to a place closest to getting you flanking next round. My bad for not moving the horse on the map after its round 1 action.)
(Status: Horse: -2 | Moggy -2 hp (but not sick!) | Reta: -0 (an hour has passed since receiving the -1 non-lethal))

Mogmurch da goblin |

Moggy pulls the horse bane dog slicer the Chief allowed him to borrow and swings it at the awful horse.
Attack 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage 1d3 - 1 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) - 1 + 3 + (4, 3) = 11

GM Crucible |

@Moggy & Chuffy, the dogslicer is 1d4 base ... And Moggy needs to include the Str penalty. (The bane weapon is dogslicer +3 versus horses.) In Moggy's case it's a miss anyway, so no matter. (1d20-1+3) => (6)+2 = 8
Chuffy damage reroll: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Your roll on the 1d3 was better, so I'll leave it be.
Chuffy moves forward and slashes the horse for damage while Poog shoots fire, further enraging the already angry horse. Moggy swings the bane weapon, and misses, despite the magic.
(Status: Horse: -2 -2 -1 == -5 | Moggy -2 hp )
---ROUND 2---
Horse
Mogmurch, Poog, Chuffy, Reta
Split or focus horse attacks: 1d2 ⇒ 1 (Will attack those that have done the most damage.)
Hooves at Chuffy: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (9) - 2 = 7 Miss!
Hooves at Reta: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (19) - 2 = 17 Hit!
Dmg, Hooves to Reta: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The horse swings its hooves at Chuffy and Reta in terror, and connects a solid blow against the side of Reta's head. Fortunately, goblins have hard heads.
---ROUND 2---
Horse
Mogmurch, Poog, Chuffy, Reta
Those in bold may act.
(Status: Horse -5 | Moggy -2 hp | Reta -4 )

Mogmurch da goblin |

Moggy swings the horse bane dog slicer yet again. "Stop kicking! Stupid horse. Be still and get chopped!"
Attack 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 3 - 1 = 6
Damage 1d3 - 1 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) - 1 + 3 + (2, 5) = 11

GM Crucible |

Wowzer, you are having rotten luck with that thing.

Some Random Goblin |

Chuffy shifts to a potential flanking position, and calmly waits for a flank.
Dogslicer: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 2 = 26, for 1d4 - 1 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) - 1 + (6) = 8 damage.
Crit Confirmation: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 5 + 2 = 27, for 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (3) - 1 = 2 *ADDITIONAL* damage.

GM Crucible |

The description sounds like a readied action, to be fired when someone moves to a flanking position, so it hadn't quite happened yet...
Moggy can accomplish that with a 5' step ...
...so for convenience, let's assume it happens, ...
Chuffy's sneak attack brings down the horse, to the delight of the goblin heroes.
Fate, <25 is bad: 1d100 ⇒ 58
Combat over.
(Status: Horse: meat | Moggy -2 hp | Reta -4 )

Some Random Goblin |

"Yay! Big bad horse go bye-bye!"
Chuffy immediately heads for the ship, being careful to avoid the wasp nest...
...but then stops, with an evil grin on his face, when he remembers Reta's suggestion.
Disable Device (to harvest wasp nest?): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27.

GM Crucible |

Yes, that skill/roll will do nicely to harvest the nest.

Poog of Zarongel - The_Lake |

Poog pulls out his wand.
Reta stop. Reta come here let me heal stick you.
Cure light wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Good nows we have killed the horse by grace of Zarongel. Us burn house now. Also by grace of Zarongel.
Poog points his dogslicer up the ramp into the ship and scampers aboard.
And stay away from me with wasps Chuffy.

GM Crucible |

Chuffy was talking about climbing the side ... if you still wish to do this, move to where you want to be, describe your action (explain what you're going to do about the wasp's nest you're holding, or take a penalty on the climb for having a hand full), and give me a climb check. Otherwise, just follow along.
Poog climbs the surprisingly steep gangplank, and wait on the main deck for the others to catch up. Moggy attempts to follow.
Climbing the ramp requires a DC 10 Climb check, which everyone but Moggy can take 10 on and beat. If someone takes 10 on aid another, Moggy beats it too.
See slide #2 of the map.
The main deck of the shipwreck is cluttered with objects both natural and artificial. Thick swaths of leafy vines grow over the deck, and shiny green patches of algae and moss grow where the vines do not. The central cabin's (area #6) roof has a wide edge, creating a canopied walkway along the ship's sides (where Poog is now). A flight of steps leads up to the roof (area #3) of the ship's main cabin, the entrance to which (area #6)is blocked by a door decorated by a large number of rodent and bird skulls. A smoking stovepipe chimney extends up from the ship's highest point above. (area #5)
(Status: Moggy -2 hp | Reta, healed)

Some Random Goblin |

Since Chuffy has a wasp nest, climbing the gangplank is probably a more feasible idea then climbing the side of the ship with one hand ;-)
"Fireworks likely to be *in* ship, right? So we should check central cabin area, right?"

GM Crucible |

*Sigh* If you insist. Watching you drop the nest on yourself would have been sooo much fun.
Wind direction (starting at '12' and moving clockwise): 1d8 ⇒ 6
Slight wind from top-right to bottom-left.
I'll assume the goblins are taking 10 on Stealth unless told otherwise.
On further thought, I'll take Perception rolls as you step on deck, too, please.

GM Crucible |

Still waiting on Moggy's Climb check to get up the ramp. (He seems to post in the evenings.)
There is the smell of dog in the air. There is at least one close by.

Mogmurch da goblin |

Climb 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
Perception 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
Moggy surprisingly climbs right up after the others. He also smells the scent of the pup, and prepares to throw a bomb directly at the mongrel!

GM Crucible |

Reta: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Chuffy: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Poog: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Mogmurch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Arrange yourselves on the left side or the "Main Deck" (Slide #2, where Moggy and Poog are). We'll go from there in initiative order. Ignore the '?' character until it's introduced.

Can't map from work.

GM Crucible |

Can you at least see the map, Reta, or are Google apps all blocked? What can I do in the future to help you out?
Looks like everyone is arranged well enough for us to continue in initiative order:
---ROUND 1---
Reta
Poog
Chuffy, Mogmurch
???
Those in bold may act

Reta Bigbad - End Girl |

Can you at least see the map, Reta, or are Google apps all blocked? What can I do in the future to help you out?
Pay me a living wage to play. ;) Your maps are't that bad but I have been on google slides where part of the map is off the page and can't that potion. That and I might not be able to access to look at any more than the first slide. But I have yet to test that. Regardless I can't make notations or move my icon around on any google platform (I use th drawing one myself).
Anyhow, if Reta doesn't see anything from the position you had her in she steps back to her new position and readies an action to stab anything that comes around that corner.
Dogslicer (+1 to this if it's a dog for her Dog-Sniff-Hate trait): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Damage (+2 damage if it's a dog for her Dog-Sniff-Hate trait): 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

GM Crucible |

You see and hear nothing that is different from the previous round.
Rinse and repeat, nothing seems to have happened,.... yet. Round two, same order.

Poog of Zarongel - The_Lake |

"Alright Moggy lets go dog hunting then."
Poog runs around the north side of the cabin until he gets to the door.
He had to double move to get there. He will try to yank the door open on the next round if nothing else happens.

GM Crucible |

...aaand stuff happens. Give me some time to get off the airplane.

GM Crucible |

As Pooh reaches the corner (two up, one left from where he's at, he sees a mangey, scruffy dog tied to the mast with a long chain. The dog sees Poog as Poog sees the dog; and the mutt starts howling. It must not have scented you earlier because of the wind, but it knows your there now!
(Poog, you can restate your last two squares of movement, but your turn for the round is otherwise complete, as it took a double move to make it to the corner. )

Reta Bigbad - End Girl |

See Poog run.
Run Poog run.
Reta waits hoping Poog runs by chased by the dog. She amends her held action to stab the second thing that comes around that corner.

GM Crucible |

I've moved Poog back, based on his description, and placed the dog he saw.
As the first dog, which has what looks like a broken tail, starts barking, another dog joins in above you. (area #3)
Fate <25 is bad: 1d100 ⇒ 80 (Whew)
@Moggy, Please move on the map, if you can, or describe it well enough that I can move you, if you can't. Thanks for being patient as I got the dog on the map.
