Twi'lek Mechaic [ WT: 11 | ST: 13/13 | DEF: 0 R / 0 M | SV: 2 | Ship Strain: 0 ]

Rae looks back at the Twi'lek, first with a look of surprise, and then a mixture of disappointment and offense. "I can't be sure what's been said about me, but I wouldn't ever turn in one of my own kind. Having tried to help our people is why I can never go home."

She sighs, and takes a deep breath, before beginning to tell a story that she does her best not to relive. "We, you know, we were being transported to some core world for sale, maybe a dozen of us. You know well as I, Empire hasn't been much use to us out here, s'pecially when we need it. Ship's Captain was an Imperial Officer, had hisself a sidegig sellin' our people. Mostly young girls. Hutts especially seem to like us." As a shudder goes through her body, Rae's face turns to a disgusted grimace.

"I ain't been one for servitude, don't reckon you are neither. I.. I killed the man, thinkin' those on that ship might be more, if given the chance." Tears began to well up in her eyes, and she smiles bitterly despite them. "Guess the Devaronian you know feels safer than the one you don't. Not a one wanted to be anything other than a slave. They'd just resigned themselves to it. Even with somethin' else starin' 'em in the face."

"I killed a man, and what's more is I did it for nothing. I failed them. I failed all of us." She takes a deep breath, wiping her eyes. "You can't tell anyone that we spoke. I'm finding a cabinet to hide in when we land. If they find out I'm here, that you tried to repair my ship." She shakes her head. "I won't have more deaths on my conscience."

Bu'ra B'an places a hand on Rae's shoulder, his remaining lekku sadly gesturing to support his words.

"For nothing? I wouldn't say that." He says softly."You fought to defend yourself, and you thought...to defend the freedom of others less able." He takes his hand down, and stands back from you. "There are those in the galaxy Rae'dalla, that would as soon sell their own as take a walk. Even on Ryloth. Our own oligarch's sell the land we work with our bare hands, sell it to outsiders. Thieves and killers. Those who would profit from our hard work."

He turns away, looking out as if he could see Ryloth from inside the ship. "I am no freedom fighter, Rae'dalla. The mines we work produce ryll spice, of which I'm sure you have heard. I fight to make sure that the people..our people, who put in the hard work, are the ones who profit from it. Not some outsider. And if the oligarch's will not help their own, then we will take matters into our own hands. Events have taken a turn for the worse for us. When you come to Ryloth, to the Nabat spaceport, you will see."

Bu'ra B'an turns back to you, his face stern. "That Imperial dog would have sold you into a fate worse than death. That the others did not follow is their problem, not yours. Freedom, Rae'dalla of Ryloth, is not free. Remember that always."

Searching about the rest of the ship, you discover that Trex wasn't very neat eater. Chunks of raw and rancid meat are dribbled all over the ship, especially around the holochess set, and in the ship's galley. The galley contains enough clean raw meat for several rather carnivorous meal, as well as six ration packs.

The crew quarters are fairly clean, and a large wampa-skin rug covers the floor. In a cabinet in the quarters you find 3 stimpacks, a medpac, a pair of electrobinoculars, and a hand scanner.

The second cargo hold contains what appears to be an ad-hoc workshop, with enough parts to build a workable astromech droid, given the time and some equipment. You also find an emergency repair kit read: Droid stimpack.

Note: As long as you have the Wookie skins, the smell gives everyone +1Bk from the smell. Except for '5'.

Valkyr wrinkles her nose

What are the odds we could cobble together a mouse droid or similar to clean the ship? Trex was not the most careful of owners it seems...

she continues

Those wookie skins are making me nauseous, I suggest we either sell or burn them when we land at Ryloth.

She adds
Are we going to send R5 outside to mess with that transponder or shall we wait till we land?

If no one minds me holding on to the medpac, it will add an extra blue die on any of my healing checks to help a lot. It also gives a free stimpac use a scene, which can be very cool.

Hargar makes his way back to the others from the cockpit, patting his hands together as if to clean them. He looks up at Valkyr, solemnly. "Don't worry, he'll be able to walk again before too long." He then flashes that toothy smile. "Don't worry, your pilot will be a little tender for a couple days, but he's all patched up. Told you, I'm pretty good at this."

He motions her over to a table that is slightly less likely to cause an infection than most of the surfaces in the room so he can work. "After that, first aid on you should be a breeze. I've actually worked on a Selonian before."

Rae smiles through tears at Bu'ra B'an, not knowing what to say. "I have some work to do to make sure we get there, first." She says, opening the cell.

Rae finds Valkyr as she's speaking with the others. "What's wrong with the Transponder?" She asks with a frown. "Far as a mouse droid, sure, I could do that. But reckon this might take priority."

Repairing the Transponder.

And building a cleaner droid from spare parts.

Mechanics (GGYY): 2d8 + 2d12 ⇒ (1, 2) + (2, 12) = 17 - (2 Success, 1 Triumph)

There's nothing wrong with the transponder, other than its sending signals of your position to Teemo. '5' altered the interval of the signal from every 5 minutes to every hour, but there's nothing you can do to stop it until you remove it. And R5 isn't going out there while you are in hyperspace.

Rae, spending a day or so in the workshop, whips up a small mouse-type cleaner droid that immediately sets to work.

What's the decision on the wookie pelts? I don't see a whole lot of extra Bk dice being rolled. To that end: always assume you know what the difficulty of a Skill check is - default is Average - and add your P dice. That will speed things up as well. I can add or subtract as necessary. Use your gut feeling on the Difficulty, that's all I am doing, anyway.

Well waste not want not, unless someone stringently objects then we're in need of credits so I suggest offloading them on the nearest buyer once we land. If someone does object then they're responsible for disposing of them, via burning or courier parcel back to Kashyyk ;)

Valkyr spends her time maintaining her blaster, fruitlessly looking through the ship's computer for Selonian literature and ribbing the Drall about not having shared his name yet. From this point on she's going to refer to him as 'doc' anyway ;p

I figure Hargar doesn't have a whole lot of vote in what gets done with the skins. He would probably be rather curious about them(How often do you get to look at the inside of a wookie?) but would leave them alone the first time there was any objection. Like the Selonian, he doesn't put any particular value on what they used to be, but he also isn't terribly concerned about their money making possibilities.

When he's praised, the Drall looks rather pleased with himself, nodding his head as he explains. "Name is Hargar, house Drusa." He pauses a beat as if expecting/hoping his name might bring some recognition, then when it doesn't he continues on. "Back home I was part of an, uh, envoy to spend some time with one of the Selonian settlements. They were nice enough folk, though the library in town wasn't all that impressive. I did a fair bit of medical work around there whenever there was an accident or something. Didn't last too long, but got a good feel. I've been away from the sector a few years now, on assignment, yeah? But it was always home."

He pauses after that and gives Rae a sympathetic look, not actually bringing it up with words but seeming to get the idea that going home can be tough.

Hargar would probably clean up a small section of the ship as much as he could and probably set about searching the holonet for as much information about trandoshans as he could so he wouldn't be tricked that way again.

Hargar can always weigh in on the subject of skins, as to whether anyone listens or not is another story, but you can always say something ;)

Pleased to meet you Doc Hargar

Valkyr pronounces it in two distinct syllables, seeming to have trouble rolling the exact pronunciation around in her mouth 'Haar-Gaar'

she nods

We're generally a nice species, but I agree, not big readers in general though! Glad you found it a nice place to work.

she gestures around, encompassing the ship and everyone in it

Seriously, I Can say from first hand experience, your skill set would be a valued asset to us on our continuing, er, journey

she stumbles somewhat verbally

It's not uncommon in our, ur, 'prospective' line of work that someone gets injured, you'd be well compensated with an equal share if you chose to stick around with us

she looks hopeful, evidently you've made a good impression.

Anyway, something to think about when we hit system in however many hours...

Selling the skins of sentient species is exclusively in the realm of a few 'special' individuals. You've got to be pretty hard core to do it. That said, to the right people, Wookie skins would fetch a fair price - say, 1500 credits? Your problem is that being what they are, only Trandoshans or Imperials have enough callousness to want them. And then only those with creds to burn. And you'll only find THOSE in the Core. You don't have the 'gas' right now, so you'd be stuck with half-cured Wookie skins for weeks.

You can always airlock them.

5, remember to throw in your Difficulty dice, usually Average, or 2P. There is nothing of note in the computers.

The ship rattles and shakes as you fly towards Ryloth, maintenance obviously not high on Trex's list of priorities. Combined with his outdated astrogation charts, it s wonder how he ever got anywhere.

Seems as though some of my posts were eaten.

There is a flash of white light and the tone of the ship's engines drops several octaves as you emerge from hyperspace. Below you lies the dusty baked surface of Ryloth. As you work out the best way to descend to the Nabat spaceport, the slim silhouette of starfighter bursts from hyperspace barely a kilometer from your position.

You've seen this craft before, it is a G1-M4-C Dunelizard, belonging to one Kubaz named Thweek - Teemo's prime errand boy. The craft banks around and begins to slow, cruising toward you on an attack vector.

Well I for one am fed up of talking, and Thweek owes me creds from the last card game we played, which makes me grumpy...

Valkyr takes off at a run, sliding down the corridor and hopping in to the under-turret, flipping console switches and shoving the headset on in as smooth a fashion as she can manage.

As soon as the orange-red light of the targeting grid pops up, she swings the chair around and opens fire.

The KRAYT FANG's laser cannons stitch a bright line across the hull of the Dunelizard as it flashes by. The hits cause Thweek to jink side to side, and his shots burn wide of your ship.

One more than Hard, I rolled another 1P and got 2F, so no dice. Very difficult to jack another ship from the outside. Great idea! Now if you had specialist gear...

Tok, Hargus, and Rae; then new round.

As the ship shifts into full combat mode, Hargar immediately prepares to explain just why it isn't his fault, but then the surprising happens and everyone runs off to their stations without blaming him.

He has to assume someone is going to do better on the other gun than he is, but if there is one thing he is good at its math, and banging pupil's heads together so they follow along with his math. With that in mind he dashes to the cockpit and grabs a comm, calling back to the gunners as he tries to help them pick their shots in this life or death geometry.

I figure this falls under leadership, not sure if there is a better skill for it. Just trying to add blue dice/take away black dice for our gunners. If this counts as assistance I add another blue based on being a drall. Also, just rolling 2purple, if it should be more or less, feel free to modify.

The ship had 3 Strain on it before. Val you get another 2B, 1 for Tok's 'Stay on Target', and 1 for Thweek's 'Stay on Target'.

Tok works the freighter into a tight flight pattern, trying to hold Thweek's ship in Val's sights. For his part, Thweek is making a run for it and guns it. The little Dunelizard jinks side to side and begins to pull away from the KRAYT FANG.

Thweek is taking Evasive Action. That means Tok has to roll against his piloting of 3G to gain the advantage. The roll will look like this: 1G 1Y 3P, or, Tok's skill vs Thweek's skill as the difficulty. So the Dunelizard adds to the range, now Medium, and with another 1Bk for the Evasive Action, Val's next shot (barring her mods) becomes 3P, 1Bk.

Twi'lek Mechaic [ WT: 11 | ST: 13/13 | DEF: 0 R / 0 M | SV: 2 | Ship Strain: 0 ]

Mechanics (GGYY) vs (PP): 2d8 + 2d12 - 2d8 ⇒ (4, 3) + (7, 9) - (4, 3) = 16 = 5S / 2A vs 2F / 1 T

Rae curses as the ship starts shaking, and jumps up from the shield generator, making a move for the ship's stabilizers.

Strain reduction +3, which leaves us at -1.

I've been losing one of every 5 of mine. We'll wait until later today.
