With the wildly spinning speeder, Val's hail of blaster fire simply kicks up a ton of dust and stone shrapnel around the area. Val hopes it is enough to distract the enemy whilst the team gets to cover.

Darn it, just realised I forgot to ask Rae to upgrade my forearm grip accessory! Will try and remember the next time we have a quiet moment and access to a toolbench!

Thanks Rae! Valkyr did buy the parts when we were at the market, but as you say we'll wait for our kindly GM to advise whether we can retcon an hour or so of our combined time last night to do the mod so you could make the roll! :)

Rae can do it over last night, but the roll will be 2P, 1Bk for not having a tool bench or such. (yes I know you can remove that Bk for your Talent, I wanted you to see it.)

Rae:
The creature is a Gand, an insectile species from the ammonia-gas planet by the same name. Most likely a bounty hunter.

It takes of all of '5's strength and skill to keep the speeder from flipping over. The craft comes to a sudden and jolting stop, burying its nose in a meter of sandy soil.

Combat start: round 1, 3 PCs, bounty hunters, 2x PCs. GO!

There is the sound of jeering voices from behind a pile of rubble slag (M range). The pile partially blocks the opening to a large cave. Four heads pop up over the rubble, aiming blasters at you. M range = 2P, plus cover = 1Bk. Keep in mind, you have no cover from them as of now. Don't be caught in the open!

"5" exits the speeder as best he can and tries to scrabble for cover before the firing starts, deploying his modest stun blaster from his arm as he moves...

Blaster bolts rip out from the rocks as the bounty hunters fire their heavy pistols. Three of the shots miss, but one connects with '5' as he scrambles over the side. 7 DMG - 3 Soak = 4 Wounds '5'. The Gand with the heavy blaster rifle is nowhere to be seen...yet.

Valkyr vaults over the side of the speeder, crouching down as she uses the hot metal chassis to steady her weapon, even though it earns her a nasty burn. Gritting her teeth and swearing at the odds, she flips her weapon to autofire, concentrating her bursts on each enemy one ofter the other

Two maneuvers, one aim one to get to cover

The bolts from the heavy blaster chew up the area the bounty hunters are using as cover, mercilessly stitching across the torsos of the first two who stuck their heads up to shoot at the party they take 13 damage each - soak

Nodding in satisfaction, Val squeezes the newly modified grip of her gun with pleasure as the bounty hunters reel from her sudden onslaught.

Next character to act gets a boost die!!

Hargar tumbles headfirst out over the speeder, landing with a thump next to the rest of you.

Curses are heard from the rocks as Valkyr's blasts chew up rocks and flesh. Wounded, but not out, the bounty hunters steady themselves. There is still no sign of the Gand who shot the speeder.

I'll keep this group pinned down, someone needs to watch for that Gand, it may be trying to flank us!

Valkyr opens fire again, aiming to keep the enemy somewhat suppressed and fearful to poke their heads up to take a shot.

This time the bounty hunters are better prepared and for the most part manage to evade her fire. Unfortunately for one of their number, caught moving towards a position with better cover, the entirety of her barrage strikes him full force doing 16 damage

Partially to distract herself from the sounds of death, and the awkwardly comforting feeling that she might die on her homeworld, and partially to make herself useful, Rae rolls over in the sand and begins to investigate the damage to the crashed speeder, trying to see what repairs she can make, if any, without putting herself into harms way.

Damage = Weapon damage + number of successes. Light blaster is 7(?) +3S = 10 damage. Your attack will come after the bandits.


'5' spots the Gand, too late to call a warning. The creature crawled up on a rubble pile to your left, taking aim on your position. His shot hits '5' right in the chest as the droid tries to shout. The force of the blast knocks the droid prone with a CLANG. 13 points, 5. With a crit. You are prone and take 2 Strain from the impact.

The Gand shakes his fist at you. Unfortunately, this unbalances him the rubble, exposing his position. He loses cover bonus for the next person to shoot at him. The other shots from the hunters are too high, or impact the speeder, rocking to and fro.

Tok's shot takes another of the bounty hunters down. Rae is struggling to fix the speeder. She knows it will take time - too much time, as the first shot did a number on the right hand motivator and the main grav-lift drive. Hargar works frantically to hand Rae tools, but his chatter and 'advice' are distracting - to say the least.

Eyebrows raising in delight at just how exposed the Gand has made himself, Valkyr wrenches her weapon around, bracing it against her knees as she lies back against the rock she is using as cover, lining up the shot and pulling the trigger in one fluid move.

Not quite able to get all the autofire bursts on target, Valkyr still manages to place several concentrated bursts across the Gand's torso doing 16 damage

As 5 drops, Rae stops muttering to herself about the speeder and nearly leaps up, wide-eyed, rushing to his side as quickly as she can, while still staying low to the ground. Getting to him, she immediately plunges her hands into the hole in his chest, ignoring the heat from the blast, and begins checking wires and rerouting systems. "Systems diagnostic?" she asks with a lump in her throat.


D4 lets out a low, rolling 'wooooo' as '5' lies there, his chest cavity smoking. Rae's quick action restores some of his functions - repair 3 Wounds - and gets him rolled over back to cover.

Val, I think you cheated yourself. The range is Medium - 2P, and he has no cover. Cover = +1Bk, not +1P. You rolled 3P, and I'm not sure if that's for the autofire because I don't have a book in front of me. In any case...

The Selonian assassin's blaster rifle spits orange energy, the bolts splashing against the Gand's armor, leaving smoking holes in it. He's still moving, but barely.

1 more PC, then BHs, then 2 PCs. Don't know where Hargar is, so we'll give him a bit more time to post.

Sorry the "5" was your name. You took 13, minus your Soak of 3, for 10. Putting you at 1. Then Rae performed a Mechanics check to "heal" you for 3, and a new total of 4. Did anyone bring repair kits? Same as a Stimpack, but for droids.

The droid offers in his deep baritone, By the way, we are being flanked. Looking down at his chest the droid offers a whirring pan of his head over Rae, Thank you my friend.

Thr droid moves to pull out a repair patch and apply it. Again I a ppear to be book less. If someone knows the roll let me know or I will update later today to apply the effects...


No roll, first application of pack/kit = 5 Wounds healed. Second = 4, and so on. This represents your system becoming more and more 'resistant' to the effects. The whole thing resets the in next 24 hour period: 5, then 4, then 3, and so on. Long story short, you repair 5 wounds.

The remaining bounty hunters at the cave entrance have had enough. Laying down fire that is more to keep your heads down than anything, they fall back into the cave entrance.

The Gand though, is out for blood. He fires at Valkyr, deeming - rightly so - that she is the bigger threat. His shot hits, searing flesh. 13-3=10 Wounds Val. But something has gone wrong. The insectile creature begins shaking his rifle in disgust, then slings it, limping his way back behind the rocks out of sight.

Hargar takes a stimpack from his belt and jabs Val with it. "There you go! Now get over there and do your thing, I'll wait here..to help Rae, that is..." +5 Wounds healed, Val

OGGM, I copy-pasted my last attack and forgot to remove the cover description I use for shorthand keeping track of stuff, but I didn't roll the setback die, also trying autofire adds a P so roll was right sadly! Thanks for checking though :)

By 'circle around' do you mean all the way around the large mesa? Or around the debris to the cave entrance? The first choice may take hours, the second will take a round or so.

I meant 'move up to the cave entrance in an indirect fashion such that they can't just stick their heads up and shoot us as we approach!'. So think flanking the cave rather than going all the way around it :)


B'ura B'an holds up his blaster pistol as you set off. "I'll wait here while Rae works on the speeder. Someone needs to keep watch." He looks down ruefully at Hargar, who appears to be wrapped in some contemplation of the Ryloth sky.

Unless Rae wants to move with you...

You move towards the cave in a roundabout fashion, avoiding the direct line to the entrance. There are no signs of the bounty hunters. The opening leads to a tunnel, winding to the left back into the side of the mesa.

I'm for finding where they went and ending them, less chance to be ambushed later, and for whoever sent them to get any intel. Plus, we may need their speeder!

Valkyr takes off down the tunnel in a ground-eating jog, weapon muzzle held in front of her.

Nope, I'm good with staying with the Speeder.

Once the others have left earshot, Rae speaks aloud, though quietly, without raising her eyes from what she's working on. "Please tell me they're here for local trouble, or at least for the ship we stole. They aren't after me, are they, B'ura B'an?"

Also, rolling Mechanics as needed for repairs.

The tunnel floor is covered in rubble and sand, with a footworn path along the middle. After thirty feet or so, you come to an opening in the right side of the passage. It looks like a small cave off to the side of the main tunnel.

Back at the speeder, B'ura B'an looks at Rae sternly. "Why you alone? You and your friends must have stirred up quite hornet's nest leaving Tatooine. Teemo is a Hutt with a long reach."

Rae, you are about half way to fixing the speeder, another ten minutes, perhaps. Barring any unforeseen event...

Valkyr pulls up short of the side tunnel, back to the wall and holding her weapon downwards so as not to reveal her location. She risks a peek around the corner to see what's there.

Rae stares at B'ura B'an with a bit of embarrassment. She tosses a quick glare at Hargar to see if he's paying attention, and looks back at the Twi'lek. "The Hutt may not be the only one interested in me, is all I meant. I'd hate for the others to be in danger on my account. Ugh. We never should have come here." Throwing a wrench onto the ground, she drops back under the speeder, resuming her work.

Val sees that the small cave has been set up with a hasty camp. You can see bedrolls, a small fusion stove, some supplies. Whoever was in here, they were prepared to wait a couple of days or so. Currently, it is unoccupied.

"I know what you meant, Rae'dalla." B'ura B'an says with some sympathy. He bends down and retrieves the wrench from the ground, kneeling to hand it to her under the speeder. "You've made decisions in your past that weigh heavily on you, I see." He says quietly. "You are young. There are many more decisions to be made in your life."

Well I hope we can either grab the enemy vehicle or Rae gets ours fixed, otherwise we'll be using this camp ourselves...

Seeing the camp unoccupied, Val makes an obscure hand-gesture at '5', darting across the gap and recommencing her jog down the tunnel, continuing pursuit of the bounty hunters.

Dredging his databanks '5' determines the gesture was a variation of non-verbal military shorthand for 'Nothing here, move on'.

I have been having problems accessing the site but it looks like I might be the only one as others are posting? Just an FYI if I have been too quiet.

Tok finds 2 stimpacks in the piles at the camp. There may have been more, but it looks like they were taken in haste.

Don't wait for me to ask about a Skill check you think is useful. Just roll it and assume Average (2P) Difficulty.
