I know Pam is still struggling with her motivation for staying on with the group - which is the reason for her silence these last couple days. For my own part, I'm leery of over-steering here. I want this to be everyone's game.
I've floated the divine inspiration angle, and I think she's noodling that. But right now I think she's thinking her character would take the prisoners back to shore and go about figuring out her own business. I need to help her out here I think, but am drawing a blank.
Lawson Gerrard |
She follows Saranrae I think right? I can see she would be concerned with taking the prisoners back or possibly the whole redemption option.
Thinking a bit more on Lawson's perspective, he'd suggest to take the Tower Girls back to the city with the bare essentials and tell them to go make a life somewhere else, much like the other group. With the warning that if they come back at them with a blade in hand for revenge it will quite literally be the last thing they do.
Now that everything has calmed down, I think as a group we'd have enough simple chit-chat behind-the-scenes for Hema to know that we're looking into the shards and trying to get them accounted for. Valai's experience with how a shard can affect a personality could be a good motivator to be involved. Ensuring that the shards don't fall into the wrong hands.
I looked back and I didn't see how long it took us to get to the Irespan, though with all of our walking around, combat and everything. It can't have been that long of a day. Maybe a few tens of minutes to an hour since we arrived?
Amadia Tien-Mu |
Damn, forums ate my post.
Anyway yes, I see Sarenrae giving the Tower Girls the option to reform, or live better lives than the one they used to lead. She doesn't have to force them to succeed, but as a character, its worth giving it a try.
In regards to finding other shards, if we rest my abilities recharge and I can assist on knowledge checks again.

I'm inclined to say several hours have passed. There have been places where you did thorough searches, etc - but still not enough to have made it a long day. It's early afternoon at latest.
So the group has rallied around a plan to return to town with the goal of sending word to Sheila, gathering camping supplies and releasing the tower girls into the wild. Of course, Afli volunteers to carry status back to Sheila. Anything else while in town?
Without roleplaying a long conversation between the players, I think Pam wasn't sure how much of the background thread her character should know - how much reserve the party might have in filling her in. She needs to post her background so the other players can make assumptions of knowing something about her as well. This was something we talked through but she never finished typing up.
Lawson Gerrard |
Offhand I can't think of anything particular while in town. We can arrange selling of loot and things afterwards. I think we still have a box and things we can drop the shard into if/when we find it.
I think we'd be more intent in doing a quick back and forth between town and the span rather than lingering in town.
Valai Blackrune |
Well, I'd like to put some of the loot to good use, especially if we're going to level up soon. ;) I'm thinking of Craft wondrous item; that way, I can use the cash to at least craft us one useful item.
That said, I'd like to hold off on fully returning to town until we've actually got the second shard in hand -- er, in the box. Afli can certainly take the Tower Girls back to town, but they shouldn't just be released. Hand them over to the Guard, instead. That, or hand them over to the local temple of Sarenrae so the priests can guide their reformation, rather than just let them walk.

What I have found through the list is:
Ten days of rations
100' of coiled rope and a grappling hook
Two Cure light wounds Potions
Two of lesser restoration Potions
climber's kit,
Second-story harness
Hooded lamp and oil
assortment of leather armor pieces (Could not figure out how many)
short swords (Could not figure out how many)
Two hand crossbows + bolts
2 smokesticks
2 tanglefoot bags
dozen bedrolls
chest of tools
ancient amphorae filled with old Thassilonean coins
ornate statue of a humanoid covered in tattoos
bloodstained masterwork studded leather
Set of nice earrings - Ayala's
Bladed scarf
Loose papers written in Varisian
2 doses bloodroot poison
mwk composite short bow
grappling hook
50' silk rope
mwk thieves tools
wide collection of odd and very ancient looking jewellery - 850 gp
274 gp
175 sp
Things of Note:
Various Muraled walls - We should probably document/etch/draw this for the Pathfinders. I don't think they'd give us money for it, but we'd be doing our "Pathfinderly Duty".
Looking through the list there are a number of things we don't have the value on so in random order...
Set of nice earrings:Appraise: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
ornate statue of a humanoid covered in tattoos: Appraise: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
ancient amphorae filled with old Thassilonean coins: Appraise: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Those appraise rolls probably doesn't help as much as I thought they would.
Considering now that we have food and bedrolls the majority of us probably don't need to go back for supplies. More of an FYI to our superiors and dropping the prisoners off and that sort of thing. We can use the rest of the down time for background stuff, such as documenting the murals and combing over the place.
If someone wants something off that list, please feel free to call dibs. The only thing Lawson would be interested in is the Masterwork studded leather, which he'd spend some time cleaning himself personally over night. But I'll float that to the group before he just takes it. The same goes for the Masterwork Comp. Shortbow, as it'd be nice for Lawson to have some ranged capacity (and he's proficient!), but I don't want to be greedy.
DM Luke |
Lawson, I bow to your thread-fu. At my table, you sir would get a Margarita.
Hema |
What's my motivation? I feel like a whiny actress that can't come to grips with my character. I've stayed out of the discussion thus far because of migraines and because I couldn't figure out what to do logically to stay with the party. There is no Temple of Saranrae. Father Darienne and I were here because it has been desecrated and the last priest murdered by the Tower Girls. One of the keys that Ayala had goes to chests that had items for the new temple that we were trying to resurrect. It would seem to me that I have no skin in your game and would take the key and just go back to see if I can find our stuff after being tortured for whoever knows how long and go along my little priestess way. However, that wasn't the point behind rolling up a character, so I'm going to buy the "divine vision" for $300, Pat. I'm going to persuade Afli to take the key and find the good Father's and my stuff back at the rooms we had rented and see that they are kept safe. This will allow me to stay with the party and provide a healing aspect to all. Now, who's willing to share "camping supplies" with the newbie? It seems all mine got gone in the torture sessions. I'm just glad I got my armor and divine focus back!!!
DM Luke |
Boom! DM continues, wiping gunpowder blast marks off his face.
Yeah, Afli is a great solution to one side of these issues. Looking at the character that was created, he fits fine as an NPC willing to keep the group connected to the town by running errands back and forth to shore and taking notes, making sketches reproducing the things the party uncovers. As he listens to the party discuss the tactics of sending the ladies to shore he suggests this role for himself. He asks in this case that Lawson help him get to shore safely with the two girls and the unclaimed loot.
He listens with growing concern as the story tumbles out of the priestess. He takes the name of the place where she and the Father had rooms and promises to recover the items.
And seriously!? For $300 you can get a gold-plated divine intervention and complimentary John the Baptist Steak Knives.
DM Luke |
I'll put a post together on the gamethread to move us along.
DM Luke |
Sorry, I guess I should have called it out. You all owe initiative - a team member has initiated combat.
Also the cleric and I are taking our children on vacation until thursday PM so please forgive any awkward silences. :D
DM Luke |
Ok, was just giving Valai a chance to express the revelation in her own snooty way. :) I'll move along down the left passage.
DM Luke |
No worries on the delay Lawson - I was going to post the same thing. Real life's been kicking our arses lately (meaning Pam and I). So sorry that the frequency hasn't been the promised daily post lately.
Lawson Gerrard |
No worries about that on my end for sure! I'm actually ramping up to my up and coming wedding on June 6th! Trying to chase down things here and there, and getting ready for my Bachelor party this weekend too.
Sometimes there just isn't enough time in the day!
DM Luke |
Congratulations! That's a great distraction to have. And on the anniversary of d-day too. Very apropos. :)
I'm sure that one won't come back to haunt me.
Lawson Gerrard |
Haha. We said the same thing while we were planning it. Oddly enough we've run into quite a few people with the same day! So hopefully it'll be easy to remember! :)
Lawson Gerrard |
Heyo everyone, I am going to be away for the next few days in a mix of birthdays/retirement party/family/wedding planning. I should hopefully be back up to speed Monday! If needed, please feel free to DMPC me!
Lawson Gerrard |
Hi everyone!
As I may have mentioned before my wedding is just a few days away and I'm in the middle of chasing loose ends and getting everything sorted for the big day!
That being said I'm going to be superly crunched for time at this point! Please feel free to DMPC me for the time being if needed!
If I have a moment in the next few days to drop a post I will try!
Between the wedding and honeymoon I am going to be in limbo until June 23rd, but I promise you all, I will be back!
DM Luke |
Hey gang. Once a year my family gets inundated with work associated with a strings institute and that time of year is now. I think the bulk of the work is behind us (schedules are made and soon to be printed) and I should be able to move us along this afternoon. Thanks for your patience.

Hey everyone! I'm back, alive and married now!
I've gotten Lawson leveled up and sorted out! He's a little tougher now, with the toughness feat!
I don't suppose anyone has managed to pick up the new Unchained book? They have a new take on the rogue there that have me drooling quite a bit!
Rommin Hawkridge |
Congratulations!
I haven't looked at the unchained classes yet. I need to give a look at the unchained barbarian and see if it would maybe be a good fit.

Hey everyone. So what are we looking to be our battle plan? Are we heading back to town for a spell to get ourselves fixed up and resupply? Or are we resting and pressing on?
Lawson is good either way, he'll hit a little weaker due to the poison, but I also have an extra sneak attack dice too...
DM Luke |
Hey gang. Sorry about the long hiatus - summer vacation, work changes, etc, etc. Seems like every time I have the time to post, I don't have the energy, and when I have the energy I don't have the time. So I want to close the thread here or leave it for someone else to continue.
It's been a pleasure gaming with all of you and I'd welcome the chance to do it again in this or any other format - sometime when my online self gets more of my time I suppose :).
You all have my email address, please feel free to use it to contact me directly. And if you're ever in Tampa Bay...
