Quick note: I had a house fire on January 2nd and we were forced to move into a motel room while we searched for a new place to live. I'm signing the papers on it Saturday morning, so I will be moving over the weekend. The problem is that I won't have Internet at the house until Monday at the earliest, and more likely Tuesday.

This is rural Northeast Missouri (an oxymoron if you know this place) so there are no hotspots around. I have my phone and I will try to access the game with it a few times. I may still have the motel room into Sunday (almost certainly will) and may use the Internet here to keep in touch.

Don't hesitate to bot me. I hate that, but I also don't want to interfere with the gameplay. It's the Confirmation which I've played and ran a few times so I'm not going to miss any content. So again, bot me and keep it going. If all goes well, I will be able to keep up. If not, let the game keep going!

Got my wife and two dogs out fine. No damage to the house interior, but it will require a complete rewiring and the house isn't worth it. Landlord may just wreck the house.

My tropical fish on the other hand froze. I didn't have anywhere for a 55 gallon tank to go in -5 degree weather at midnight. No big loss as most were guppies and mollies, but two Gouranmi were fish I'd had for at least five years. It's a mixed deal as the tank had a major blue-green algae problem and so I think I'm going to throw everything but the tank out, clean it, pour algae killer into it and restart the tank this summer when I have more money and get the bills straightened out.

Ha. Yeah, Traianus is... interesting. Second level will be oracle and that 7 will become a 19 for purposes of AC. In the meantime, he's depending on his hit points to carry him through.

I wanted to build a hugely diplomacy-focused character and having already seen the full caster version, thought I'd try something unusual and different!

Nah, Traianus isn't going to be particularly healer-y. Diplomacy will be his forte; he's got a +18 now and he'll invest more into it over time.

Build stuff...:
He should have somewhere in the neighborhood of a +50ish to it by level 11. It sounds silly, but with DC 30 checks in higher subtiers and benefits that can only be gained if you beat those DCs by 5 or 10 (or 15...) the high bonus is useful in a surprising number of scenarios. Add in the human trait to let him shift attitudes by three steps, and he should be able to contribute to the party by bypassing combat encounters on a pretty regular basis. Hopefully that will make up for him not being a combat monster. And some of the stuff he won't be able to talk his way past will be smite-able, so the diplomatic approach might mean he can smite in more combats and keep up a little bit with some of the other martials.

Since I'm building him to be diplomacy-primary, combat's secondary at best. Two-handed weapon builds have the lowest investment so it's the obvious choice. That means he needs to be high-strength and high-charisma with some con--and I don't want to dump int so he can actually have skill points. That doesn't leave much for anything else. Since dipping Oracle doesn't hurt the primary objective, losing 1 point of bab is pretty forgivable if it means he can ignore his dexterity almost without penalty. Eventually he might be able to remember facts through story and apply his charisma bonus to knowledge skills instead of int, too. Although I'm less sure about whether he'll have the skill points to make that matter at all.

Combined with Celeste, it should be an interesting character!

I think my region adopted it as a time-saving measure, since we tend to run hard-stop 4-hour slots. It's a common houserule from what I've seen, so it's not that strange to me, it's just not something I see a lot of in PFS. Of course a lot of regions have moved to 5-hour slots where possible, which might have something to do with it.

But I have heard tell of weirder stuff. Supposedly (I haven't played with them myself) the Hong Kong PFS group rules that you can't use a reroll on rolls of natural 1 when that 1 would automatically fail--because as soon as you see that 1, you know what the result is, and you can only use a reroll before you know the result.

People are strange and interesting creatures.
