Welcome to the Confirmation.
Please make a brief post introducing yourself so that I know you are here and others can get to know you.

An exotic looking woman of Varisian decent appears to glide into the Pigs Paunch. She wears traveling leathers that are newer and cleaner than someone who has traveled the island of Absalom. Heading to the bar anyone listening can hear the clinking of vials, clanking of jars and tinkling of metal as she walks past.
As she opens her mouth to talk, many expect the woman to speak with a voice befitting a noble but then she says
"Hey, might I be'in the right place? Heard the master o' scrolls I'd looking fer some help." looking to the barkeep she continues "I'd have Whad ya got that cu'd knock the stink of a skunk." she finishes by sitting very unlady like on the stool

A frog-like creature enters the Pig's Paunch tavern, walking around on two legs, but still slightly shorter than any adult halfling. He's wearing light armor, with a halfling sized longbow and quiver strapped to his back, and a warhammer and dagger sheathed on his belt.
"Is it ok to tie my mule to the post outside?" he asks aloud, addressing nobody in particular. "I'm not sure how things are typically done in a big city like this."

A woman passing by with mugs of ale turns to Kubbup as his question.
Sure, tie him up there. He'll be just fine.
She continues on her way to deliver drinks to a table in the middle of the tavern.

Strolling into the bar comes a woman of exotic beauty, flawless porcelain skin and long flowing black hair neatly combed in order to frame her face. Her face holds no blemish but it is not hard to notice her eyes, for they are different colour; One is a bright sapphire blue, whilst the other is a deep emerald green, a fact she accents with a turquoise shade of lipstick. She wears flowing robes made of the finest Tien silk which hug her figure, but her demeanour marks her out as a local to Absalom.
Hearing Amethyst's questions, Fialka smiles sweetly and carries on her leisurely saunter, her hips swaying as she walks.
"Oh I do hope so my dear, for I am here for that very purpose myself." Fialka says softly, holding out a slender hand in greeting. "My Name is Fialka, I grew up in the Arcanarium here in Absalom, who might I have the pleasure of addressing?"

Hayali slips into the Pig's Paunch with wide eyes, curious to see what new adventure has had her name writ to it. "Hello," she greets those already there, her voice quite clear and, well. It's not authoritative, but more measured. As though she's comfortable with herself. "I am here for the Master of Scrolls." Looking around, the sylph can tell the crowd she'll be traveling with will be interesting at the least - there's a Grippli there at least, and the last one had been an interesting one - a lord, with his own sleigh and camel, a porter, and some other interesting odds and ends.
She carefully moves some hair out of her eyes. The other person was... a woman. Human, as far as she could tell - but then again, most thought the same about her. At least until they got a closer look at the gentle blue swirls in her skin.
The woman was interesting - despite her appearance, she sat about more casually than a typical commoner might. The other woman that had just slipped in was strangely beautiful, too. This would be interesting.
"I'm Hayali. Hayali Avino, an illusionist of some small skill." Grinning, perhaps a bit cheekily, she adds, "Want to see some tricks while we wait?" Using prestidigitation, she changes the features of some of the things those gathered thus far are interacting with. This includes some small odds and ends - temporarily changing the color of mugs and drawing pictures on the counter, ferrying coin for the drinks to the counter and then ferrying the assigned drink back. "My most popular is changing the taste of drinks, though," she says thoughtfully. "Even with some of the most interestingly brewed beverages before them, some of the young lads I've entertained have asked for 'something stronger'." The corner of her mouth turned up in amusement. "Of course, the actual drink wasn't affected, but, well. One tastes what one desires, no?"
She doesn't do this without paying attention to the others there, however, doing her best to keep involved in the conversation by adding the usual sounds and nods involved with acknowledging what someone has said.

An older looking hardend male walks through the door and looks around. Hes wearing a dark green cloak and peaking out from underneath it you see a hint of hide armor. He notices the table where the other are already sitti g and heads that way. At the table he reaches up and takes the bow off his back and leans it against the table and sits down.
"I assume we all here for the same reason. I'm Alic. Y'all forks new here too?" he says as he waves over the maid and orders a water with a touch of honey.

"They appear to be serving mule today, I will have to take advantage of the freshness." Her voice precedes her into the tavern, muddled by the typical lisp one hears when a Nagaji speaks. The woman who enters is tall, likely standing head and shoulders above most of the tavern's patrons, and this makes it obvious what her heritage is despite the limply hanging robes covering everything but her smooth-scaled head.
Her features are a touch more prominent than many nagaji, with hints of actual lips and a nose. It allows for people to notice the vaguely satisfied expression on her face as she approaches the gathered group. Her steps are sinewy, mimicking a snake's slide across the across. She appears to be unarmed, but there are flashes of metal beneath her robes that suggest she has at least protected herself with armor. "I believe... that you are an odd enough group that I would fit in, and thus must be those I have been brought here to meet with." This is her offered greeting before sliding into a seat beside Hayali. A pause. "Zilona."
The sylph is given more consideration than the rest, her stare lingering. "You can change the taste of things? I think we shall become good friends."

"So is this everyone's first real adventure, or have ya'll done this sort of thing before?" He takes a sip of his water and nods with approval as he glances around taking everyone in. His eyes land on the othe bow and its owner... Some professional competition he things to himself. With one final glance around the table he states "This is going to be fun and interesting!"

The Pig’s Paunch is a run-down building with a faded sign of a large pig standing on its hind legs, arms folded above a corpulent belly. Inside, the air is thick with the scents of human sweat, stale tobacco, and leftover food. In the center of the room, surrounded by inebriates sleeping off their revelries, a familiar elven man stands high upon top of a large round table.
“Welcome! Welcome, my students! Please, have a seat!” With that, Kreighton Shaine, the Pathfinder Society’s Master of Scrolls, nimbly drops down to sit cross-legged on the table before looking about the tavern with a sense of reverent wonder. “Can you believe it? It all started here years ago—well, over four hundred of them at least. Under this very roof the Pathfinder Society was born.
“But today! Today you will begin your Confirmation! Master Farabellus, Master Zey, and I all agree you each have shown your worth and dedication to the Society, so there’s no better time to see if you can handle becoming full field operatives. Allow me to introduce you to Janira Gavix,” he says as he motions for an excitable halfling woman to approach. She wears a large backpack and carries all manner of tools, pouches, and scroll cases around her waist. Shaine continues, saying, “Janira here will be going with you on your Confirmation. She was one of my brightest pupils and will no doubt be an invaluable resource on your journey, for she discovered the caves you are about to explore during her own Confirmation.”
Janira speaks up in an enthusiastic and cheerful voice, “Greetings, aspiring Pathfinders! Six months ago, while I was mapping cave entrances in the foothills of the Kortos Mounts, I witnessed a lone gillman entering a concealed cave. I thought little of it at the time, but I saw another one enter the cave again a month later as my Confirmation stretched on. A few days later, after I completed my assigned task, I entered the cave system, but was unable to find the gillmen.”
Master Shaine hops to his feet. “Initiates, for your Confirmation, you will travel to these caves to explore and document its many passages. Additionally, and most importantly, you are to learn what the gillmen are up to in there. Oh, and you need to come back alive as well.” With these parting words, the Master of Scrolls jumps off the table and strolls out of the building while humming to himself.
With the Master of Scrolls gone Janira takes charge. Before we set out I think we should take a minute to assess where we are going and what we should take along. Does anyone have any questions about the mission?
Ask any questions you have of Janira and also feel free to attempt the below knowledge checks

Knowledge Geography: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15
Alic looks around and then speaks up first drawing on his limited but well earned knowledge as hunter and tracker. "Well anybody that can read a map can see that the center of the island is the Kortos Mounts, and places like that there are usally centaurs, harpies, and minotaurs. The good thing is they have their own form of population control because they are constantly fighting amongst themselves for territory. Harpies like those high peaks and centaurs keep to lower middle and lower portions. Its most likely we are in for a fight at any level we reach." He then ask Janira "What sort of creatures did you run into during your conformation, Ma'am. Nothing you couldn't handle obviously, but its still nice to know what all may be out there.

Taking the hand presented to her Amethyst, rather than shaking it in an unlady like manner expected she pulls it up to her lips and kisses gently across the top.
"Enchanté madam." Amethyst let's go of Fialka's hand "I do say you have the most purdy eyes I have ever seen. I am Amethyst, an alchemist beset by a wanderlust to explore." she says moving with a jingling of her pack to emphasize her alchemy gear.
Looking to the sylph Amethyst bows slightly. "Hayali Avino you be say'n. I do like a good show and I may'n hav to try tha' taste changing thing." Amethyst holds out her pint glass.
Seeing Alic walk up and order water with honey Amethyst is a bit taken aback "You'n sure that's all you want? I know of a Dwarven mead tha' taste better than tha' hun'ee water ya got'n there; Better bees I be assum'n." she trails of speaking to herself.
"We are the oddest bunch are'n we, Zilona you say?" commenting towards the rather tall woman
"Alic i do'n be leave'n my lab very much but I hav' a feel'n I jus need ta be traveling."
After listen to the master of scrolls invigorating speech Amethyst claps as he leaves.
"Alic you are knowledgeable and I defer to you, I'm more trained in the magical areas and know a little abou' nature."
Turning to Janira "This does soun' like fun. Thank you for tak'n us along. I plan to be com'n back alive."
Wow woke up to a wall of text. Sorry for my own :)

Hayali smiles a bit, pleased to have an audience, and changes the flavor of Amethyst's glass to whatever the woman requests. "And voila!"
When Master Shane and Janira begin speaking, she pauses in her activities and listens attentively. Seeing as she's not so aware of the geography or the history of the place, she's suitably impressed by what the man has to say. Still, she has some questions of her own. "What, exactly, is a gill...man if it's singular? Are they local to that area? Just to be sure, our task is to sort out what the gillmen are doing there and why as well as survive, right?"
Hayali taps her chin thoughtfully. "That doesn't sound as though it's too difficult a task. The last bit of adventure I went on - they were tapping all available resources - had us out in the freezing cold, so this sounds like it'll be a nice, normal adventure."

![]() |

Fialka blushes slightly at Amethyst's treatment and gives the alchemist a smile as she slowly takes her hand back, softly stroking her hand as she does so. Watchinh Hayali's performance, Fialka applauses politely with a soft smile. Interesting trick she thinks whilst pondering her own experiences with magic, not much she had was so flashy. As Hayali finishes her performance, Fialka smiles and sits on the table by Amethyst, crossing her legs demurely.
"I too dabble with the forces of the world, though mine comes from my own thoughts rather than Arcane words and sigils. I look forward to working with you all." She says as they get to know one another. "I have been party to a few adventures, though I am not officially an Agent as yet."
As the Master of Scrolls enters, Fialka leans back against the tabletop and lets the enigmatic Elf explain their next venture into the unknown. Fialka was disappointed, it all seemed so...normal, such a plain adventure into a cave? How droll.
history: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
"Yes, very quaint. Though the Gillmen might be interesting! They are the product of Aboleth sorceries on the Ancient cousins of the Azlanti. Though, the Aboleth bit is pure conjecture!"

Zilona nods to Amethyst to confirm her name, then slides her bright eyes to consider Alic. "Yes, this is my first official action for the society. But I helped...mmm" She pauses to seek out the word she's after. "Clean up after the escapades of another team recently. It's how I found myself here. They saw my potential."
She quiets for Shane and Janira, listening politely until the others have added in their additional bits of information with her hands clasped on the table. "Harpies, Gillmen, and Minotaur. I'm new to Kortos... I hadn't expected it to be so... rustic." This has seemed to draw her attention more than exploring an old cave.
"I was going to question why I was chosen for this confirmation... I don't know the area like you all seem to. But I should be able to at least help with any forceful negotiations we find ourselves in." The nagaji woman glances to where Shaine left before giving Janira her attention. "You see to be our de facto leader, so how far is this cave?"

GM Ietsuna |

We aren't leaving the Pigs Paunch quite yet, so I'll move forward and any questions the Yubbup has we can deal with in our way-back machine. Sorry for the walls of text. I am pushing through to give you things to react to rather than slowly drip feeding the intro stuff.
Janira settles herself a little more comfortable on her chair, sips her drink and watches as you talk among yourselves, answering each others questions. This is good. You seem to have knowledge that will help each other. I can see you will form a nice tight unit. Cooperation is very important to the Pathfinder Society. It is one of the duties of a Pathfinder agent and that is what you are trying to do on this Confirmation mission isn't it? You all want to be agents so show the Society how you Explore, Report, Cooperate.
She takes another draft of her drink and bigins to speak again.
My name is Janira Gavix and I completed my own Confirmation about 4 years ago now. she smiles as she has fond memories.
On to the details of the mission at hand, Janira says with an eager grin. After reviewing my mission reports personally, Master Shaine believes it is no coincidence that each time they entered the caves it was during a full moon, so it is also no coincidence that you have been called here now, just a day before the moon is full again. We both believe that tomorrow night is our best chance to find out why these caves are important and what exactly the gillmen are doing in there.
The caves we’ll be travelling to lie under the base of the Kortos Mounts. We’ll need to spend every minute of daylight today and most of tomorrow possible to reach the caves by foot, crossing over the Cairnlands, taking the paths to Diobel, and finally making our way through the wilderness. With any luck we won’t run into any of the local inhabitants. Once in the caves, we’ll need to work together to explore and determine whether any gillman are present or have been recently. Keep an eye out for any other clues that might hint at the caves’ significance, too.
Now, if anyone has any last minute questions they can ask them while you check your provisions. You would be amazed how often common things are forgotten. Things like rope and light sources and food and a way to make fire. You might need some way to heal and it can sometimes be advantageous to have a flask of alchemist's fire or anti-toxin although those can be expensive for those just beginning their careers so maybe not. I'll leave the decision up to you.
Having spoken for what feels like an age she raises her mug and realizes it is empty. While you ask any further questions and take stock of your gear she'll happily drink.

The grippli observes the others, but doesn't say much. After hearing the mission, and the others talking about it, he finally speaks up.
"I'll be glad to be out in the wilderness again. I don't like being stuck in a city like this. I don't know the geography of this island, but I know nature, so I'm sure I can help with exploring. And fighting any hazardous animals or other enemies we run across."
He gestures to his bow as he says this last part.

![]() |

Alic looks around the table again and not hearing anything else being said at the moment calls over the maid and asks where the nearest traders shop is. Hearing her answer he downs the last of his honey water and with a show of forcefully putting his mug back down on the table he states "Well fellow adventurers, I for one need a few things to fill my pack before we leave so I'm headed over to the traders. I'll be back in a few." Alic stands up grab his bow and in one swift motion slings it over his shoulder like it belongs there while at the same time turn and heading towards the door.
Entering the shop, the musty smell of leathers, oils, fabric and wood all come together to form the stanch strong smell that most trader shops have. Alic walks up to the counter and says "Hello, Im here for a few items." The shop keepers looks at him with an agitated look and repiles "That obvious or you wouldn't be here." Ignoring the big city abrutness Alic asks "I'm going to need 10 torches, 50' hemp rope not that exspensive silks stuff, thats just a waste of my hard earned gold, and 2 water skins, mine where old so I figured time for some new ones any ways." The shop keeper rolls his eye at all the extra chatter from Alic, walks around the shop gathering the items and places them on the counter. "That'll be 10 copper for the torches, 2 gold for the waterskins and another 1 gold for your "hard earned" rope." he states sarcastically rolling his eyes at the same time. Alic reaches down into his coin purse and retrieves the coins and places them on the counter. "Thank you fine gentleman, I shall hope to be seeing more of you in the future." Alic grabs the torches and stuffs them into his pack along with one of the water skins. The rope he secures to the outside of the pack and the last waterskin he slings over his shoulder by the strap. He heads for the door and back toward the tavern.
Across the street he sees a weapons shop and decides to head over there first. Again the distinct smell of the shop hits his nostrels as he walks through the door. The shop keep greets him with a welcome as he enters and Alic nods back in acknowledgment. He walks over to a weapons rack and takes a moment to find and pick out a studry short sword. Taking it over to the counter he places it down. "I've never had much use for one of these but where im going it couldnt hurt to have. How much?" The shopkeep picks up the blade looking at it. "A fine piece. A fine piece indeed! That'll be the standard 10 gold my friend." Again Alic reaches into his coin purse and digs out the coin and hands it to the keeper. He takes his sword holding it out and looking it over one more time before securing it to his belt. "Thank you!" Alic states as he turns and heads to the door. "No, Thank you! replies the shopkeep as Alic exits the door and heads back to the Pigs Paunch to rejoin his new found companions.
Sorry if this is too long let me know and I'll cut it back next time. Admin note I started out with 68gp so if my math is correct I should now have 54gp and 90cp now.

Taking in what Janira says, Hayali nods thoughtfully, taking a mental inventory of what she's got readily available. "I can cast dancing lights for light easily enough and I've two flasks of alchemist's fire. I have flint and steel for fire and four days' worth of rations, which ought to be enough for two days' march there and another two days' march back. Hopefully, it doesn't take longer than that, though I assume we can find some other sustenance if it becomes necessary." She rubs at her chin and adds, "I don't think I've got any rope, though. Or a way of healing for that matter." Hayali frowns when she realizes this, her eyebrows drawing together in dissatisfaction. "Or antitoxins, for that matter."
She waits to hear what the others have before taking advantage of the funds she'd obtained from her last bit of work. If they haven't any of the other things the woman had mentioned, she'd see if she could stop by the market on their way out. Seeing as the halfling woman had already traveled to the Kortos Mounts, she could only assume Janira knew what she was talking about. If those were the things that she thought they ought to have, well. She'd bow to the wisdom of someone with more experience than her.

"I am well supplied in food. I'm not one for having an empty belly." She slips a thin, white wand out of a sleeve and sets it on the table in front of her. [b]"I can provide us with healing, I used some of my clout with the archives to pick it up on my way here... for safety. I have rope as well mixed in my my usual traveling gear." She gives Hayali a small smile and flags down a barmaid for a tankard of something smooth. "It looks like a few people are going to shop before we depart anyways."
"I will be waiting here with our hostess Janira, as I feel reasonably prepared and wish to enjoy sitting in a chair one more time before we hike." She'll raise her new drink to the halfling and watch Amethyst and Alic leave the Pig.
"I hope no one snores."She adds as an afterthought to herself.

With the party reassembled after their various shopping errands Janira stands, hefts her own pack onto her back and leads you through the city.
The trip is not overly arduous and Janira spends most of the time talking. When not pointing out significant landmarks such as abandoned siege towers and interesting plants and animals she is telling tales of the Master of Scrolls.
As nightfall approaches you find a good spot to rest for the night and set up camp. The evening is again passed with talk and the sharing of a meal supplemented by a rabbit that Janira managed to catch. As night falls you set up a watch rotation aided by the almost full moon and all get a good nights sleep.
Awakening you break your fasts, strike camp and set off for a second day of walking. Janira pipes up again Today we should reach the cave, and that is as it must be because tonight is a full moon. I really do wonder what they do in there, but I guess we'll all know soon enough She again passes the day pointing out things of interest and telling stories about the greats of the Pathfinder Society.
By mid morning the forest is getting thicker and just after lunch the trees towering overhead begin to shield most of what remains of the day’s sun and the vegetation beneath grows denser. Janira pauses a moment and pulls out an intricate silver compass emblazoned with the Pathfinder Society logo: the Glyph of the Open Road. “I received this wayfinder when I successfully completed my Confirmation. Should we be successful on our journey, you will get your own as well.”
She flips open the device and holds it in front of her; the initials J. L. are engraved into the inside of the device’s lid. After studying the compass inside for a moment, she remarks, “We’re on the right path. We need to keep heading northwest past those large rocks up ahead.”
But before you can start moving again, a large tree falls to the forest floor, startling all sorts of creatures. In their fear, some start to attack your party.

On the march out Alic listens to the woman tell stories and smiles at the chatter telling himself they would make awful hunting partners with all the noise they make. The stories are interesting though, of new places and experiences he's never been or seen. He remains quite most of the trip watching Kubbup at the beginning to get a read on him then turning his attention out to the surroundings.
At camp he helps get everyone comfortable and laughs to himself as the bard does the hunting instead of asking one of the teo hunters to do it. He leaves the rabbit she caught for the others as he's used to eating meager while out. He watches and notices who's done this sort of thing and who hasn't. Its not hard to tell. He finds the base of a tree and curls up under it till his gaurd shift.
They next morning he helps break camp and get the party moving again barely saying anything. His mind is focused on the hunt, even if the goal is something other than a creature. They head down the path and then the tree falls...
Not sure how combat works, do we all just make our moves and then the GM puts them in order? Im going to post like that this first time and if I'm wrong please let me know.
Alic turns toward the sounds and being a hunter by trade stands his ground because he is used to this sort of thing happening. Out of the undergrowth three giant flees come tearing out. Alic shouts "Giant Fleas! Use bladed weapons because they'll be more effective." Alic himself has never faced a giant flea let alone three but he's heard from those who have and he's confident that his group can handle them.

Back at the Pig
"Oh, you need all of that?" Fialka asks sweetly as Janira finishes, "I have most of it, but I don't carry a weapon, such physical violence is horrid! I do have a Wand to soothe wounds, but I cannot activate it."
Waiting for the others to shop, Fialka follows them out into the wilderness, staying close to Amethyst and Hayali and sharing stories of her youth in Absalom's Magic institution. It was clear she did not do camping often, if at all, but she at least tries to be helpful around their campsite. As they rest, she begins to Paint a countryside scene and also asks if her fellows wish a portrait to commemorate the expedition.
Ambushed!
"What are those?!" Fialka exclaims as the bugs rush towards them, startled by the Tree. "They don't look like they will be very intelligent."
Backing away from the creatures, Fialka pulls out a vial of greenish acid and holds it in her hands, obviously unsure about it.

![]() |

"Excellent," Hayali responds smoothly. "Between the lot of us, we ought to have most of it covered." She smiles at Zilona. Seeing as they now had access to rope and healing, well. The only other things that Janira had mentioned were antitoxins and acid. She had to flasks of alchemist's fire and she didn't want to risk carrying acid as well - there was no telling when something might shove into her and accidentally break a vial. Keeping too many together was almost like asking for an explosion. She had heaps of respect for the many alchemists that managed it.
But that did leave antitoxins. She paused briefly to pick up two on their way out. 2 antitoxins at 100gp - better safe than sorry!
Also, I assume I subtract a ration for the first day's march?
As they travel, she tries to embellish Janira's stories with prestidigitation by adding little flourishes and the occasional ghost sound and silent image when they stop for the night. The rabbit's meat is juicy and turns the trail rations into an actual meal - all in all, a fortune find. "Well caught," she compliments the bard.
In the morning, she takes the time to study her tome, Illusory Intimations, which she'd received early in her studies. She considers what spells she wants to take for the day. Once she's decided, she helps to pack up anything that needs packing and assembles her kit for the day.
The resumed march is almost as wonderful as the day before, though the trees are... a bit intimidating, really. It was one thing to read about trees whose trunks couldn't be spanned by three grown men and another thing entirely to see them for herself.
When the pause so Janira can regain her bearings, Hayali can't help but be a bit envious of the wayfinder the woman pulls out. It looks very useful - and it's nice, besides. She's eager to get one of her own!
And of, course, that's when the trouble starts. She takes a step back to prepare, pulls out her crossbow and loads it, unsure of how best to harm their enemies.
"Are, they, uh... Weak to anything other than flyswatters? I haven't got a giant one of those on hand at the moment!"
Used Standard Action to draw weapon so I could use my movement action to load a bolt and a 5-ft step back.

Amethyst attempts to listen to the tales Janira spins but she is to distracted by all the sights of Absalom.
Amethyst takes her watch rather unseriously yawning many times eyes dropping until she is startled by another who is ready to take over. In the morning she helps break up camp as best she can. Not the strongest she is great at packing though able to think 20 steps ahead to repack everyone's back packs to give a little ease when the carry them.
Amethyst jumps when the trees come falling down. As the dust and moss settles she looks to the creatures attacking the group and thinks briefly...

Zilona pauses only to guzzle up the rest of her drink before gathering her things to follow after the much smaller halfling. As they slip away from the city and into the more rustic parts of the island she seems distracted by her thoughts, her eyes seeming to miss everything being pointed out.
Ever so slowly, a clear slime easily recognizable as ectoplasm leaks from one of her sleeves, coalescing and thickening into a strand that drags along behind her. This carries on only briefly as the mass grows and hardens, shifting into the shape of a scythe gripped loosely in her scaled fingers, shaft dragging a shallow track behind her as it finally gains a dark color suggestive of real wood and metal.
With a sigh of relief she finally begins to listen to the conversation around her, interjecting where appropriate with her own questions and thoughts. Come dinner she lets the others handle the food, but shows no shame in taking her share and enjoying it. She even takes care to regularly nudge Amethyst awake during their watch shift more to have someone to talk to than really caring about her dedication.
======
Come the next morning she is standing placidly with the group as Janira plots their course, only to be startled into action by the falling tree and the fleas everyone starts screaming about.
She rolls her shoulders and lifts her scythe up into a proper grip. "Pardon me, ladies and gentlemen. I think I shall be horrid." She marches forward to place herself between most of the group and a flea, weapon at the ready to slice down on anything that comes close.
Move action to new position, standard to ready to attack a flea that gets close enough.

On the way out, Kubbup seems quite at ease in the natural surroundings. He has his longbow in hand the whole time, occasionally leaning on it as a walking stick. He watches the others curiously, especially Zilona, but doesn't say much, unless discussion turns to their natural surroundings. In those times, he'll point out features of nature, accurately identifying many of the plants and animals we pass along the way.

Heeding the others, and not having any sort of bladed arrows for his bow, Kubbup moves closer, hoping to make himself a target for the purple one. As he moves, he draws a net, then readies to throw it at any flea that comes within 10 feet of him.

The red flea sees the group and moves toward them on foot. As it heads for Zilona she swings her scythe and slices right through it. The red flea falls.

Hayali, save your arrow
The fleas dealt with Janira gathers you together and you begin your walk again. Well, that was exciting. Let's hope for no more surprises while we are travelling.
Several hours pass uneventfully, but then you start running into problems: first a recent landslide that blocks the trail, then a shortcut overgrown since a month ago. ”I’m afraid we’ll need to find a different path. If we don’t get there by dusk, we may have to wait a whole month for another chance! Is anybody well trained at tracking or navigating the wilderness?”
You’ll have to perform a forced march unless someone successfully rolls Survival.

Alic smiles as this is a forrest and he grew up in forrests! He notices Amethyst ask for the compass and adds his recomemdations to the direction she points out. "It shouldn't be to difficult that way. We're hardy bunch as we just proved. We should be fine going that way. Unless some other obstacle is out there, we should make it in time."

I hit with an 11 total? I figured they were wimpy, but I didn't think they were THAT wimpy. LOL
Kubbup carefully folds up his net and stows it. As the group continues marching, he cleans the flea guts off his dagger and puts that back in its sheathe.
When Janira tells us that we'll have to search for another path, the little frog man pulls a mapmaking kit out if his mule's saddle pack, and makes some notes as he tries to find the best way to go.

The negative dex from the net helped.
Alic and Kubbup find an old, dried out stream bed that quickly takes you higher into the mounts, and from there it is an easy task to backtrack downhill.
The dense forest opens to a wide clearing at the base of a sheer cliff. Thick vines cover the surface of the cliff stretching 30 feet overhead. “Here! The cave entrance is behind those vines,” Janira says with a broad smile as she walks to the cliff’s face. She pulls back several layers of vegetation to reveal a narrow crack in the cliff’s surface. “This is where I saw the gillmen enter.”
As she motions toward the aperture, the surrounding woods come alive with the sound of small animals fleeing some unseen danger and a large creature crashing through the undergrowth. The halfling worriedly remarks, “Quick, take cover before whatever it is spots us!” As if she’d summoned the creature with her words, a massive horned monstrosity emerges from the trees. Standing eight feet tall on a pair of cloven hooves and wielding a tremendous axe, the bull-headed creature roars with unbridled anger when it spots you.
Wisely assessing that a minotaur is beyond her charges’ capabilities, Janira screams, “A minotaur! There’s little chance we can stand against it. Take this bag,” she continues, pulling off her backpack, “and head deeper into the caves. Finish your mission. I’ll lead it away from the caves, lose it in the forest, and join you as soon as I can. Now go! GO!” She heaves her backpack into the cave, casts a spell, and darts off toward the minotaur before turning to lure it away.
If you roll 24 or higher, you may ask for more information.
The minotaur is far enough away that everybody has 1 round to flee or buff up.

Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 ⇒ 4
Alic has only ever heard of Minotaurs, but has no knowledge other than they are big and mean! He listens to Janira and is torn... "I'm not one to run from a fight but I'm also not sure if we can defeat him without some sort of close ranged support! I'm usually a long range person myself, and none of you look like you can soak up too much damage. No offense to anyone here. I'll leave the call up to you guys. Do we stay and fight with our companion or flee and leave her to the mercy of this beast like she wants?
With that Alic ready's his bow and notches an arrow just in case...
I'm always up for a good challenge but I have truly never faced a minotaur before so you guys let me know and I'll do what I can

A sheer look of terror briefly flashes across Amethyst's face. Then she pulls up her composure and says "I don' know 'bout you but I don' wan' ta be skewered by tha... tha thing an' I think it has plenty ah room to do it. Also I'm not sure how she is doin' it but she is movin' faster thank my uncle runs from me auntee. For a halflin' tha is." Amethyst finishs by heading straight into the cave picking up Janira's pack. Kubbup watches the others to see how they'll respond to Janira's instructions. Seeing them heading for the cave, he backs slowly into it, as well, readying an arrow and eyeing the minotaur the whole time. Once the others are all inside, he follows.

Seeing her allies defeat the Giant vermin, Fialka sighs with relief and , with shaking hands, returns the vial to her pack, glad she didn''t have to throw it. Brushing off leaves she saunters back to the group with a smile. "Well done all! Those looked like nasty critters!" The psychic praises before following them through the woods, stumbling along the uneven ground. As the forest begins to rumble, Fialka turns in surprise as Janira shouts her warning and starts to leave.
"Be safe Janira!" she prays as she rushes after the others towards the cave, panting heavily.

![]() |

Zilona is more lackadaisical about the whole large bull person trying to crush them all. As Janira darts off she frowns in thought and then shrugs. "She's either really brave, or really stupid. I suppose it's her funeral, though." With that said, she slings her weapon over her shoulder and darts towards the cave entrance with the others.
As she passes Alic and his holding position she tries to grab him by the collar and drag him in after the rest. "Come along, dead eye. We don't want to just get its attention back now." And into the relative safety of the narrow passage she goes.

![]() |

Alic feels the tug on his neck and looks back to see who it is. Never really having anybody that concearned about him since the "old man". He listens to Zilona and nods, turns back to see if his arrow strikes true before stepping into the caves entrance right before Kubbup.

Once you are safely around the first bend out of sight with the sounds of the fight fading you open the backpack. There is luminous fungus on the walls providing light.

The caves are damp and slippery, and usually about 7 feet wide and high. Some tunnels are tighter or more spacious though. The walls are covered with patches of blue-green luminescent fungi that provide dim light.
Petroglyphs periodically decorate the walls, mostly with marine animals and spiraling shapes. The deeper you travel, the more of these wall paintings that you find.
A copy of Janira's backpack is on the campaign tab, including who is currently carrying each item. Please let me know if any changes need to be made to the list.
The narrow tunnel twists and turns for several hundred feet before slowly opening to a wider passage. A large hole spans the cave’s width and stretches ten feet down the path. About 10 feet down the pit is filled with water and at bottom of the water lies a small bundle of cloth. The corners of the pit are rounded, and the tunnel walls don’t look easy to climb either.
How does everyone cross the pit?

Alic says "Let me swim across and see whats on the other side." He notices the bag at the botttom but knows hes a poor swimmer. "Kubbup, you any good at swimming? Think you could reach whatever that is, it could be an important clue." Alic turns and and is about to get in the water, then stops. He unties the rope and hands one end to Zilona. "You lady's hold onto this so we can get back out easier. Please." Tying the other end to his belt he then starts to lower himself in sliding more than lowering. Once in the water Alic is glad he gave them the rope end because he wouldnt be able to make it out easily without it. The other side is going to be tough to climb...if he makes it to the other side...

"This pit looks artificial. Perhaps a trap of some sort?"
Kubbup ties one end of a rope around his waist, and anchors the to the ground somehow on the side with the party. He climbs down to the water level, and tries to reach the cloth in the water from where he is. Assuming he can get it, he then climbs up to the other side of the pit, so his rope is spanning the distance, and can be used by the other party members. He'll then anchor it on this side.
